Forget if I shared or not, but N1 in the library I found a silver and white medal shaped like a Maltese Asterisk with a wreath behind it, attached to a red ribbon. The description perfectly matches the French Legion of Honour. No idea what that actually means in context though

That definitely looks like new information - valuable information - provided we can figure out how it fits into everything.
I've got two names that are coming together, yet neither of them feel like they fit quite right.
Three names, actually, but two are closely linked, and one might be worthless.
First, we've got Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. However, apparently he's Belgian. But he might be world renowned and successful enough that his nationality wouldn't matter.
Second, there's Arsène Lupin, but he's less detective, more criminal, so I'm not sure how the French Legion of Honour would fit into things.
Then there's the closely linked Lupin III, which is likewise a criminal, and I'm not sure if there's legitimate reason to mention him or if he's just on my mind because of the CGI movie with him that finally came to the US last month.
Anyone have more knowledge on these guys so we can determine if there's something there worth considering or if we should rule out anything in that direction entirely?
Provided none of the players in this game took any of those roles.
Alternatively, if we're looking at hieroglyphics, French Metals, and a broken pipe, the word "Casablanca" comes to mind, but I'm not sure how a Squash Ball might fit into that picture.
And in the interests of cooperation to solve this mystery, I found a black rubber ball with two yellow dots on it. I have no idea how that fits in with any of this, but maybe it means something to one of you.
