The county fair is held about 3 minutes drive from my house. Besides eating lots of food truck meals this week, we took in the spectacle of Mexican Midget Wrestlers or somesuch organization. Short Sleeve Sampson was the big crowd favorite, so I cheered loudly for the obvious heel he went up against. A couple of the matches were decent, but overall it was kinda dull. Missed the lady midget wrestlers who came on later.
I have always liked the the cult classic movie and the soundtrack for Repo Man, mostly because it embraced punk rock in the 80's. One of my favorite songs off of it is Pablo Picaso by Burning Sensations. What I didn't realize was, it's original version is even better, Pablo Picaso by The Modern Lovers from 1972. In 2003, it was covered by David Bowie, it is my least favorite version, but, it is still good. Iggy Pop is more my preferred style of the cover.
By going down that rabbit hole, I was blown away by how good The Modern Lovers album was for 1972, the songs still stand the test of time, 50 years later. It's funny that even though the recordings are from 72, they weren't released until 76 and by that time the band had broken up due to the singer no longer wanting to perform music in that style.
Despite the original group's premature break-up, many of its members found considerable success elsewhere: founding member John Felice formed The Real Kids, Jerry Harrison later joined Talking Heads, David Robinson co-founded The Cars, and Ernie Brooks would later work with David Johansen, Arthur Russell, Elliott Murphy, and Gary Lucas.

I was hoping to come back and get 711, but I was beaten by the 'mute. I'm winning at 712!!
Sure seems like a lot of X-Men themed clix releases in the past couple years. Even in comparison to the peak Heroclix years, there was never a time with so many similar releases. At least 6 X releases in the past 3 years. jeesh.

I at least came back from a 7-11 and am enjoying a slurpee. There is a new horchata slurpee. It was different. It tasted like horchata and was a bit creamy like horchata but there was a slight fizz to it like it was a soda. That threw me off.

Speaking of 7-11, these and the Marvel sets are both pretty cool. I sold a half dozen or so for $100 to a collector downstate several years ago, but still have probably 60 or more in varying conditions sitting in a box, somewhere.

That's a pretty impressive resume for those musicians. It's too bad I don't like punk music.

I respect your choice, but I've been in a punk phase lately and so therefore vehemently disagree with your tastes. There's just something that's catching me lately; maybe it's my growing cynicism.
I wouldn't even say the Modern Lovers are punk, punk didn't exist in 1972. They definitely influenced punk. They were inspired by the Velvet Underground from what the inter webs say. Sex Pistols, The Clash, Dead Kennedy's, Misfits, Ramones and The Exploited were all part of the soundtrack to my rebellious teenage years in the 80's.

I have Batman and Nick Fury. I was going to use them as dice cups, but, they are way too loud.
