In the case of a character like Trigon, whose Doppelganger tokens specifically say they must be broken away from, does this include figures with Phasing?
Maybe it's because I lived through the Silver Age, but I really enjoy wacky versions of comic book characters and like seeing oddball clix representations --- including ones that may have been seen in a single story or maybe only a few panels (like Sinestro Corps Batman).
So I'd LOVE to see some of those crazy Silver Age versions clixed, like the goofy Superman story in which he's the spitting image of Alfred E. Neuman.
This morning, I was looking through some of my old comic books and reread my favorite Batman from the late '50s -- Batman #116 -- featuring a wild cover story about "The Winged Bat-People," strange creatures in another dimension who kinda reminded me of the flying monkeys in Oz.

Phasing reads,
Quote
Give this character a move action and move it up to its speed value. It ignores the effects of characters and terrain on movement.
Yeah, not proud of the lash-out. It was not a good time for me. I think I went to three different TRU's that had the product in and each one sold out that morning. Then I came on and read that dudes post and then everything went white hot rage.
Which is why the world would be a better place, with a greater chance for peace in the valley, if folks considered the eyes and ears of others before they started bragging in public.
Of course, when it comes to a happy neckbeard, that's like asking a narcissist to show concern for the sake of others.
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!

EDIT: I probably shouldn't mention this in the forums.

Sorry. I wasn't around when you asked the question. I am thinking that automatically breaking away is just that no matter what the effect (unless specifically stated like Cobra's)

I challenged a friend today for the top spot of the Supremacy League.
I played:
Maelstrom w/ the Infinity Gauntlet & Soul Gem
Exp Lockjaw x 2
He played:
81 Chief w/ Dissent
100 Nightshade x 2
74 The Question x 2
40 Orcs x 4
I won Map roll (theme team helped) and chose the Oa side of the GL FF map. From the beginning I pretty much knew I had it in the bag, but the last thing I wanted to do was to get cocky and charge head first into his swarm of Outwit. How he managed to play the one feat card that was perfectly suited to my team, I'll never know. I blame Rob.
I placed my characters on the elevated corner starting area, all the way to the back and stuck to the plan, taking action after action to power up the Gauntlet. I had a couple good rolls for it and landed on power 2 within about 8 turns. It took him that long to cross the map and even get anywhere close to set up against me, but by then I just teleported away via Lockjaw. The only problem with the Gauntlet was that I landed on Click 23, knowing that I dare not click the Gauntlet any further for fear of clicking past the Godly clicks.
I had to keep either my Lockjaws or the terrain between his team and mine, never wanting to give him a chance to outwit my PC. I played it slow, and took my shots where I could, but for whatever reason my dice were lukewarm at best. That combined with the double Barrier from the Nightshades made for a game of intense positioning. In a 50 minute game, I only landed two hits. Both against the Chief, and both were Masterminded to the Orc stack.
I won by a score of 20-0.
But after that, we decided to play it out to last man just for fun. He was able to whittle away at Maelstrom, taking him down to his second to last click, and KOd both of the Lockjaws via Nightshades' smoke clouds. But I kept plugging away, taking his little guys down one at a time. I combined Maelstrom's natural HSS with the Super Strength I chose via the Gauntlet to KO both Questions with heavy objects. I chose Running Shot via the Gauntlet to go with his natural Pulse Wave to do some good damage against the Chief and the Mystic pieces. It was a good game, but I came away victorious over all, as well as within the official time limit.

Congratulations! I'm honestly relieved that you won after all our PMs.
Me too. His low range really hurt his chances. But the 3 outwitters + dissent evened the playing field a bit. Fortunately he could only hit me for two damage after any given outwit, so it wasn't too bad. I just didn't want to over extend and get swarmed.
