The shops knows I have a standing offer to pay for prize support if it ever becomes too much of a financial burden for them. I mentioned it again when I explained to them the glut of costs coming down the pike in 2012.
So why are they not getting stuff? So confused by them. Do they think you're up to something? Like you've been planning a double-cross all this time? Very confusing. I find people are often shocked when others act selflessly.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

It's not a bad thing. I sat down with the owners and explained what sets were coming down the pike, how much to order of each set, starter and fast force.
Then you get into prize support and we're talking about at that time a Trek OP Kit, two Galactic Guardian OP kits, each monthly IG kit, then we looked at future Mighty Avengers OP Kits and Marqees and honestly you could see him doing the mental math.
Then there is FCBD. Its a lot out of pocket for the venue.
Had we not been sitting on a few unmovable cases of Hulk at Superman at that time it would have been a better situation. But Hulk aint moving.
At the end of the day I felt I was in a position of either negotiating two GG OP kits or one OP kit and a Marquee kit. We have roughly fourteen players between three venues. It'll just take one of them to get a single Marquee kit to cover everyone. I didn't want to fight the battle for both. It made better sense to me at that time that getting an extra GG kit was more advantageous for the entirety of the player bases. Had I known at the time of this decision that the GG kit would basicly consist of leftover Hulkburger Helper I may had opted to negotiate the marquee kit over the second OP kit.
Keep in mind, this was all being priced out while the owners were pricing the lease on the bigger store that would guarantee us our own gaming area.
In all fairness, the new owners have been good to us. Most of our player base doesn't buy anything from them. Badger is a good impulse shopper. So are you. Rich, Bob and I are regular book buyers but many players come in to play and not to spend. There needs to be a healthy symbiosis between the players and the venue. In the past two years since the new owners have taken over, they've constantly maintained the website with schedules, openly posted gaming schedules, increased the prize support they've purchased, offered a standing 20% discount on pre-orders and are now moving to a new location to give us permenant gaming space.
I can't and won't ask more from them. They'll be plenty of Marquee figures out there.

Well, I can understand why people would be shocked when you act selflessly...
Seriously, I encounter the same thing all the time. A couple of weeks ago I saw a thread in the Creative Corner where some guy was looking for some small stickers to finish some mods he was doing. I offered my assistance and the first question I got after that was "What do you want for them?". When I replied that I required no compensation (it was a very small amount of materials and the time I put in was pretty minimal as well) he immediately seemed to put his guard up. Apparently you can't just help out a fellow human being without seeming suspicious.
I didn't go to Harvard or Yale but I can kick a man in the crotch as well as any other.

Hey Smudge that reminds me. You still need an Onslaught (the boxed super booster one)? I have one in my giant den of organized gaming stuff that I'm slowly liquidating. Its yours!
I may bug you though for a custom dial or two in the not so distant future. Since I've given up on DC ever getting colossals (let alone villains) I'm working on my own custom Titano.

I would be happy to offer my services in exchange for an Onslaught and you would certainly have my gratitude.

You're honestly doing me a favor. I get the real estate back that the Onslaught is taking up and if I ever get off my duff I get a nice custom dial. Its a win/win for me.
