The older brother of the 7th grader who died Thursday morning surprised everyone and came to school today. He ended up coming to one class (mine) and hanging out with me the 2 hours I was free, before his family came and picked him up. He just wanted to get out of the house and not deal with the funeral home/ service arrangements. What a great kid. All 3 hours he spent at school were spent with me or in my classroom with a few of his family and friends. It was so damn sad. It felt flattering in a way that he'd wanted to come in and hang out or whatever, but it was so hard to try to help in any meaningful way.
We basically cleaned and moved stuff around in my classroom, had a normal class for his one period with his classmates, and then swapped stories about his goofy, frustrating brother for the last bit. What an amazingly strong kid. He and his little brother had played a WW2 video game until later Wednesday night and everything was fine. The next morning his mom was yelling and telling him to get the phone...
sorry for the somber.
X-wing news: the new Boba Fett is pretty brutal, and Y-wings with bomb loadout and unhinged astromechs are the ####. The cheap pirate Z-98 with a hotshot blaster was MVP.
this will help re-establish the lack of substance and depth...his mom is kinda hot for a middle aged lady.
And if she was a lion, she would immediately go into heat after the loss of the cub.
Hoffman, I know what you're going thru. Both of my parents were teachers and took the loss of a student very deeply.
One of the toughest for my father to comprehend was the loss of a student who was a junior firefighter that was hit by a car and struck dead when we was responded to a fire alarm. The kid was a bit shrimpy, like my dad was at that age, and my dad admired his courage to be a junior firefighter.
The pain was exacerbated as while the state of PA immediately recognized the student as a firefighter who died in the line of duty, the federal government did not and there was a prolonged battle that the family eventually won to have his name added to the national firefighters memorial.

Wow, that is a tough one, sounds like he was a kid with a positive future. You know these things happen to some class of kids, or some small town somewhere, or to some family, etc, but when it hits close to home you wish that the kids he was classmates with could have avoided that part of growing up for awhile longer. It wasn't war, or a drunk driver, or a farm accident, or whatever, just a kid with a neurological condition that evidently was way worse than anyone thought. Plus I have a bit of selfishness in my sorrow for this kid, because he was such a funny kid to talk to, and you could get him riled up about a fishing story, or seeing some wild animals, or whatever, and it was amusing to listen to him go. Add in the fact that he knew a Do.335, a P-38, or a B-29 at a glance and wanted to argue about which tank was cooler in WW2 or whatever, and I will genuinely miss him.
Going to see his folks for the first time since it happened tomorrow night at visitation when I stop by on the way home from drill (which is where I am at right now, though from my HCRealms browsing and my facebook perusing, you would never know it).
Hey, assuming I don't win the Trinity War rares and SRs I was bidding on in Phantalien's auction, I have several R/SR I am looking for. I have an extra Blight, Black Adam, and Martian Manhunter for SRs and an extra Killer Frost and Vixen for Rares.
I need WW, Batman, Mazahs!, SHAZAM, Blue Devil, more pictures of your sister with Bud and CL in that party last year, and the Pandora's Box resource base.
Click my trade thread linked below. You know you want to...go ahead, touch it!
