Hawkgirl felt the rage swelling up inside her. She broke free of Plastic Man's snakey hold and went to attack, but again her fellow Justice Leaguer was gone. Nothing remained on the featureless battleground but an empty soda can. Could it be that the can was making a face at her? Nonsense. She must have gotten a concussion from that last blow.
Hawkgirl looks around for Plastic Man. He sneaks up behind her, body thin, his head turns into a super big cat with his face. His tongue trips her up and pulls her in, closing his mouth.
"BURP!". Feathers fly out of his mouth. Finally Hawkgirl wobbles out.
"Ick," she emphatically says, "You win! I am NEVER doing that again."
Tammy comes out with her usual breathless commentary, "Yeah! Another game done. And the unquestionable winner is Plastic Bag!".
"Plastic Bag? Oh honey, comedy really is your thing. Guess I knew that when I saw your dress."
Before he can continue his sarcastic berading another person pops into the ring. He turns his neck 180 degrees so he can see.....
I didn't expect you to push to take out Hawkgirl. I was hoping to get one more shot with her. I guess I'll bring in Sabretooth!
He pounces on Plas. Plas rols a 5 for his Shape Change this time. Pretty close, but Sabretooth isn't fooled. AV10 on DV16, needs 6, gets 11. I'll pass on BCF and take Sabretooth's natural 3 damage. Don't want to risk a 1 or 2, when a guaranteed 3 puts Plas past his Perplex anyway.
V Sabretooth @ D21
On deck:
V Deathstroke
E Captain America (Ult)
E Starman
Sabretooth snarled, and lunged at Plastic Man. He tried the same shape changing tricks that had befuddled Hawkgirl, but Sabretooth was having none of it. He relied as much on smell as sight, and that Plastic Man couldn't change.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome our newest contestant, Snagglepuss."
"Hiya Snagglepuss," Plas joked, "nice to meet you. I'm Plastic Bag. You know, I really admire your work. Could you do that 'Exit, stage left' thing for me?"
By the way, this has been one of the more fun games for me. This one on one combat really emphasizes characterization. Too many times we build legions where characters get koed quickly or not emphasized because we use favorites. Can't do that here, everyone gets play here.
Getting to focus on just one character is kind of nice. We can always run this again sometime, possible with lower points, so we're forced to use the low-price figures. Penguin vs. Blade, Boom-Boom vs. Lady Shiva, that sort of thing. Or there's always the other extreme. Though I suspect that might be less fun - all coming down to whomever misses their Impervious roll first.
Don't know if you meant next time we do this kind of game we can avoid pushing or this turn. To be fair to your idea, plus the fact that you chose characters with willpower who can push, let's leave it for now as we've been doing it.
I've no choice now but to being in Firelord. Needs 3, rolls 4. Two to Sabre minus toughness. Sorry didn't really wanna pull him out so fast...
