The usual store I go to hasn't given any out, even though they did get plenty...The store's owner has a great idea! Save them and hand them out for the Batman Begins movie celebration over a month from now!
Yes, the above should be read in a sarcastic tone...
This would be my guess for most of the places that "didn't get any". It was $20 for a bag of 50, so I'm assuming that some stores didn't want to spend the money after being stuck with all the R Spider-Men last year. That and there's TONS of FCBD stuff to order, so it could always have been overlooked as well.
This would be my guess too. I know my dealer complained last year how they call it FREE comic day but it there wasn't anything FREE about it. He still had to order great quantities of each book for some reason or another.
Last year he got them all. I walked out of there with a whole BAG full of indy junk that wasn't worth reading. This year he had a grand total of FIVE seperate books. and no Batman.
got a question - how about the stores possibly distributing them out BEFORE May 7th?? I have seen many of FCBD Batman Promo in Ebay (the highest one I saw was $15.50!) and when I won the REV Ra's Al Ghul for my set and the seller added a Promo Batman to it as a bonus and I got it on May 5th! Maybe the stores already "sold" them and save some for the May 7th, thus some of you did not get the Promo Batman, so don't you think it is a possibility?
the store here in Fremont, CA has the Promo Batman on May 7th and the odd thing is that the owner is trying to "hide" instead of showing them on the display and when I asked the owner that I would like to see the Promo Batman and he said okay (he knew that I am also a Heroclix freak) and gave me one. oh well. Guess that the customer HAS to know and ask for it?? I dunno.
Of the five actual comic stores in Lexington, Ky only two (both owned by the same person) had any and one of them only had three left by the time I got there at 5. The other shop had ordered a lot more and was planning on giving them and the Batman Strikes free comics away when the Batman Begins comes out. I think they are going to have a big table set up at the theater which should be pretty cool. I only got two...one from each shop...so I don't feel too greedy.
Heroclix every Thursday Night at 7 pm at Warlords Unlimited ( www.warlordsunlimited.com ) in Richmond, KY.
Two out of 3 stores in Kitchener Waterloo Ontario had the Batmans. My sons and I picked up 6 of them.
The Guelph guys will be talking to you. The Dragon didnt get their shipment. Luckily I managed to get one tho...

Wizkids has been having supply "issues" since Mutant Mayhem's release. My venue hasn't had a sealed booster or a booster draft in ages due to not having enough stock. This despite the fact that my venue gets their supply through the biggest supplier in the country.
The running theory is is that WizKids has discovered they can make more money by selling on the secondary market.
Whatever the deal is, no, my venue did not have any of the FCBD Promo Batman.
I went early to get mine, and my store owner, who I have been loyal to for quite some time now said he was using them for prizes in a HClix tourney that day. WTF??? I thought they were freebies. I was disappointed, especially after all the biz I give him, and I had my 5-year old with me, who would have loved a free Batman.
I figured I'd pay him back the favor by cutting back on big game purchases at his store. /
Here's what I know. The store I worked at all day on Saturday only got a fraction of the Batman's that were ordered.
Diamond just wasn't able to get what was ordered to thoase who ordered it. It wasn't just the Clix, a couple of books were shorted as well.
That still meant we had 100 of them on hand, but we kinda kept them off the table and made them "by request" items so they weren’t gone in the first hour. Even doing that we only have a handful left over at the end of the dayand we'll use those as additional Prize support.
I only had one person decide NOT to take it when he saw that it was a Purple Ringed Promo and not the true Rookie that was solicited both through Diamond and the Free Comic Book Day website. I thought he was crazy for not taking one anyway, because its got a lot of "desk appeal".
We haven't had an official "after action" yet, but I know we had more people than last year, probably 800ish. But If we would have had more we could have given more away.
I will VERY VERY upset if I see tons of these things given out at the conventions this year if retailers were shorted what they ordered.
This would be my guess for most of the places that "didn't get any". Exactly the reason the two stores in our area don't have any... while FCD is a noble wish, some stores can't even scrape together the funding to pay for free gifts to loyal fans. Yet another reason to not buy cases online and support your local comic store.

wow, I guess I am lucky I drove to another town and they said they had one left. I think some stores are cutting out FCBD because they are not getting the increased business they want, just a bunch a dudes coming and grabbing freebies.
I went to 3 different places before I finally managed to get one. Then I grabbed 2 more for some friends of mine. But one guy who didn't get his swore on a stack of bibles that he'd get one for all the clix tourney regulars. So I might get another one.
10-2-08 I just put a bunch of stuff on eBay including a numbered Super Skrull Illuminati and a CoG Galactus. Check it out.
