I try not to call anything CHEESE, but Torch and Polaris will possibly be able to RS and Pulse Wave into whole teams in turn to and leave everyone 4 clicks down if this "rumored" Nova Blast feat comes to pass.

However, I will reserve to name this my first "cheesy" piece until I see what comes to pass in Fantastic Forces.

Hm... lotta mixed feelings about Johnny boy.

GOOD:
Front-loaded Running Shot with good Speed and Range.
Starting Damage of 4.
Another much-needed Fantastic Four piece.

BAD:
Doesn't seem quite worth his points.
Low Damage on last Pulse Wave click.
Not really comic-accurate. (Nova Blast was a last-ditch maneuver ONLY.)

The data I worked from when I wrote up the figure was WRONG. Johnny does, as the Wizard materials say, have POISON on his first three clicks. He does NOT have Pulse Wave.

He's still a great figure, and the sculpt alone (the chrome is gorgeous, the pictures don't do him justice) is worth the cost.

This isn't true....Human Torch has used his nova blast many many times...Actually the first time his powers emerged he created a huge nova blast because he wasn't able to control it...so it's not like he has to summon up a huge blast of energy to go nova...he has to control his power as to not go Nova when he uses it...so I think front-loaded Pulse Wave is VERY appropiate.

Armor Piercing...

Wait!! Why put Armor Piercing on a character who has three clicks of poison on clicks where he has 4 or 3 damage?!?!

Because after that he gets dual target energy explosion with a 10 range....yeah armor piercing works great on him.

I'm more disappointed that it's a flat-out mistake. I was hoping it was an accidental substitution, and that what we'd been shown was the SR/LE Johnny Storm from the set itself. The Sue Storm piece had been designed to be the first, real chase piece of the set - economical dial and the highest Defense of all her versions in this set), so it would have made sense they'd do something similar with her brother.

Still, for the brief time before flyers reportedly (is this confirmed? I don't want to go on a search...) will have firing out of adjacency stolen from them in the new Icons rulebook, we'll be able to have Johnny make a Running Shot attack on two characters, stopping next to one of them or another one, so the Poison is a threat the next turn. Eh.

Well I think this will be a good figure and putting the LE/SR Sue Storm with him to bumb his defense to 19 will be very sweet


Also I am reading FF essenstials Volume 2 atm. In FF 60 something he uses his Nova Blast against Doctor Doom after he stole silver surfers cosmic power.

Yes he does use it occasionally, but for a full on Nova blast it has consequences. It may not kill him but it does use up all of his flame, and often times knock him unconscious.

Not something for the beginning of a dial.

No, what we need is a new Thanos who is 250+ points with the power cosmic TA!!

I agree, this is a great sculpt, a fantastic paint job, and a weak dial. I'll be placing this on a Firelord base.
