Does this come up a lot? Is it a real issue? Just askin'.
It comes up less with maps that have no elevated terrain...
...but I have run into it many times in 'big' events, usually because my opponents tend to pick "4 corners" maps.
If it rarely came up, that would be all the more reason to get rid of the exception, imo...but there is no good reason why a flight stand should prevent falling damage.

Other then the fact that the person can fly? Assuming they're not unconscious (in other words, KOed), they can probably prevent themselves from slamming into the ground.
LOL. Despite it's problems, SFB did end up with a pretty well-written rulebook (Commander's Edition?) after the boxed set and the pamphlets. I thought that it's 'alphabetic' chapters with clearly numbered rules (and the way 'optional/advanced' rules were folded in) made it a pretty easy game to learn, despite all of its complications.
The funny thing is a guy I worked with for 5 years actually typed all the SFB rules (all modules except Omega) into a HTML formated document for himself. I mean this was probably a 1000 pages of stuff. He did it at work and it took him about 3 years to finish it. He runs SFB by email so it is a great resource for him. All he had to do was click on a link and it would take him to the appropriate rules section. He used to spend a couple of hours at work each day typing those rules in. It was quiet impressive when he finished.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to eliminate the hovering and soaring flight modes.
Instead, when the flight mode indicator is down, the character is "landed" and considered grounded (but not able to be carried), when the indicator is up the character is "flying" and may carry other eligible characters, gains the movement advantages of flight (breakaway, fly over outdoor terrain, etc), and has the same characteristics of the current soaring flight level (can't attack non flying characters, range is halved to the flying character, etc.).
A "landed" character would take damage from being knocked off elevated terrain, like other characters, whereas a "flying" character would be immune because he's . . . flying!
Not to big on your idea GG because it doesn't deal with a) flying w/ indoor maps & b) flying characters have been knocked out of the sky on occasion & don't escape unscathed from getting injured.

Um, they have the ability to fly...not magic pixie anti-inertia bubbles. If they take knockback at all they should physically fall to the ground...likewise, if soaring can be outwitted, they ought to take falling damage too.
There aren't any of the new starters at my local comic shop, and I can't print the current PAC off Wizkids website. Does anyone know where I can find a less graphic-intense, more "printer-friendly" PAC?
Is there any way that one of you might be able to upload the Danger Room's PAC?!
I was able to find & DL the Rulebook, but not the Powers & Abilities card. Or, would anyone consider mailing me their old Danger Room PAC book please?!
The reason why is that I would like to have the HeroClix's most updated PAC before the drastic changes made to the game when the "Avengers" set came out. I began playing HeroClix when it originally came out, but had gotten out of it, & would like to play again with my old figures (but before the added complexity & different bases from the current HeroClix sets).
Honestly, while I completely understand the attraction of the pre-SP days (I still wish the game hadn't gone down that route, but had stuck to "everything on the dial") I think the actual PAC powers are in fact more balanced and interesting than ever. Even if I were using only pre-card figures I think I'd prefer to play the game with the 2013 PAC.
Edit: Wow, SORRY! Didn't mean to contribute to the necro. This thread is 7 years old!

Sorry to contribute too, but i so much think you're right i have to point it out. Like you, i would have preferred they stay with the everything on the dial/PAC. And like you i think the new PAC is a blessing. And i know necro is bad, but sometimes it's refreshing to look back at what we had to say a few years ago.

I seriously think you should play with your old figures and the new rules. It's the best way to do it. There is only ONE set of rules, the current one. All figures are still compatible, you don't have to "dig" to find old rules to enjoy what you have.
Yeah, I understand what you mean about bringing back to life "Dead Threads", but this is pretty much the place to go for anything HeroClix online. I do wish the old HeroClix site (complete w/ images & dial info for every figure) was still active.
I read through the 2012 HeroClix rules & ended up getting somewhat confused with some new concepts I am unfamiliar with. I wasn't even a fan of the Feat & Bystander Cards when they were introduced. I feel simpler games are better to play w/ new players. (More elevations, & character base types isn't that)
Although the "Theme" Teams permitting "Probability Control" is interesting, it's more to look up when constructing a team. I've also noticed the Powers & Abilities have changed & been adjusted somewhat through the years. It seems the longer the game continues the weaker old characters I own become.
I do like how it appears that with the newest dials, a figure can be played @ different starting lines (for different pt. values) on the same dial. Right?
But I feel for my personal cut off point with this game was pre-Avengers set.
*Update!*: It took a good amount of internet searching, but I WAS able to find a pdf copy of the HeroClix: Danger Room starter Rules & PAC.
