It's the Thomas Wayne from Grant Morrison's Earth-2 (or is that 3, now?), who was alive.
I don't necessarily mind change, as long as it isn't a stupid change. This, seems like it would be a stupid change, though I'll give the benefit of the doubt until it comes out.

This reminds me why i don't read any of the big DC stuff besides Batman.
Does anyone else miss the whole "Here's a comic about this guy!" and "Here's a comic about this guy!" And then every once in a while they have the people who have separate comics team up to fight a bad guy.
These massive crossovers where entire things change for the universe seem to be happening more and more frequently. I guess these comic guys are making more money out of these deals. They all just seem to much things up if you ask me.
For every somewhat cool concept (I thought Civil War was an interesting way to integrate politics at least) there are ridiculous ones like this.
I find that lately DC wants to change too much all the time, and Marvel wants to eradicate any ounce of change.
Or possibly by a random african-american Batman has inspired, Batman's sidekick, a cyborg inhabited by the mind of a man that blames Batman for the death of his wife and friends and is looking to tarnish Batman's image, and the insanely over ambitious last surviving guardian of Batman's home planet?
How could you forget the biggest part of the spoiler
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
That he...
wait. Forget the spoiler tags! I'm just going to come out an ruin it for everyone.
That he comes back in a few months time in a black jumpsuit, with a silver bat-symbol on it, rocking a sweet bat-mullet!
Anyway.
My thoughts on the Thomas Wayne thing. Here's my problem. It's not some random crossover, it's supposed to be a CRISIS.
Lets look at the past Crisis's villains shall we?
Crisis on Infinite Earths - Anti-Moniter
Zero Hour: The Crisis in Time - An insanely suped-up Green Lantern
Infinite Crisis - An alternate reality version of Lex Luthor and two (2!!!) alternate reality versions of Superman.
Somehow "Batman's" dad just doesn't fit with the above, so here is what I'm thinking. It's one of three things.
1) The quote, unquote spoiler is just DC f-ing with us.
2) "Thomas Wayne" does make an appearance, but in reality it's due to the real villain of F.C. faking it to mess with Batman and take him out of the equation (plus throw all of us off into thinking they have brought back Batman's dad). Of course with this theory it would need to be someone who knows Bruce is Batman, so you know thats what? Like half the DCU?
3) It's true and D.C. and Morrison have gone nuts
"When the going gets weird, the weird go pro." - Hunter S. Thompson"
"Victim? Victim? Do you think this letter on my chest stands for AMERICA?" - you have been getting insulted by nextwave.
I find that lately DC wants to change too much all the time, and Marvel wants to eradicate any ounce of change.
And in eradicating change, they are making greater changes than the Original Crisis did. At least DC changed thier entire history, which easily explains why some stories never really happened. By eradicating changes to just one character all of the other characters are subtily altered and stories are invalidated even though they are still canon.
Personally, I like the Crisis titles and I like major change. I just want dead to mean dead. If Batman dies, leave him dead. I'm actually hoping that Barry Allen doesn't come back, unless it is an untold tale of him travelling from the past or, (since he was living in the future) sometime before he died to the present, but not permanently.
Killing Batman is a gutsy move, make it work without bringing him back.
I think Barry is coming back, but he won't be staying. In some comic I remember it being said that Barry would appear three times in the future. He appeared during Rogue Wars, he appeared in Infinate Crisis. He also said he would be back for "The Crisis, the big one." So yeah, he'll appear in Final, but I don't think he will stay after that.
And the thing about Batman dying that they are making it seem like the mantle of Batman will be removed. Which totally goes against "the man can be destroyed, but a symbol is eternal."
If Bruce were to die, I would want him to die as Bruce, not as Batman. Sniper round to the head while out in public, shot by a nameless hitman. Something like that. Suddenly Batman is dead, and the entire hero community know this, but can't reveal it because Gotham would go mad with crime. So someone has to fill the void in Gotham. But no one can properly fill the shoes of someone as driven as Bruce, so the entire Bat family devotes thems selves to keeping the legend of Batman alive. Dick and Tim get the mantion as Bruce's heirs.
And entire underground crimefighting force is born. Those recruited follow the orders of "The Batman" while Tim acts as field leader, Dick runs a sqaud of Nightwing's who infiltrate corrupted corperations and criminal organizations. The Wayne foundation opens orphanages and homeless shelters all accross Gotham, each with a Robin to protect it. I think it could lead to some really interesting stories. Even though it would now be a team book, the title would still be Batman. My favorite thing would be if the entire organization were to be run in secret by Barbara Gordon. Think about it.
"The Batman" : Barbara Gordon
Batman: The group of masked Vigilantes who take over the streets, led in the field by Tim Drake, who has taken over the reigns of the Gothams favorite son. If you wanted to have Terry McGinnis in standard continuity, this is where he would end up.
Nightwing: A team of undercover agents taking down corruption from the inside. Headed by by Dick Grayson, who is now a member of the GCPD.
Robin: The young fighters who protect the shelters set up by the Wayne Foundation. Out of costume more often than in, each Robin would seem to be only a strong-willed youngster. But each shelter would have a secret room with everything the Robin would need.
Oracle: The name for the organization's dispatch and information line.
Maybe I'm getting a head of myself, but this is the only situation where I would actually enjoy a story where Bruce died. I'd rather have him alive and in the mantle, but if he were going to go, I'd like to see him die without revealing who he was, and have others keep the legend alive in his honor.
I'd rather have what I listed above as a Elseworlds story. But maybe I just needed the chance to fanboy out a bit. Thats for humoring me.
Devil-Hitler, in Superman's Body, with multiple power rings supplied by his Mongul Hordes. Devil-Hitler went into the future to possess Superman, and in the process went through an Anti-Matter Wall from the CoiE, gaining massive powers. As a result of his travelling through time, Aquaman lost his hook hand. But then Batman will solve everything by going to Janitor Man, whose power is an Anti-Devil-Hitler ray. But in exchange, Batman has to undo his wedding to Lois Lane. And as a result, Ted Kord will be brought back to life as the new Silver Scarab. The destruction of Devil Hitler strips Superman of his regular powers, but he discovers the mystical Fire Thong to give him new powers! And finally, Wonder Woman gets hit by a bus and dies, and is replaced by a poorly trained temp worker.
Oh, and Santa Zod destroys the Earth, because it has been very naughty. But that's okay, because there's more than one now! There's Cyborg Earth, Armored Earth, Teenage Angsty Earth, and Native Earthtonian Earth.

It will be revealed the arch villain Libra who's body was absorbed by the universe is none other than Thomas Wanye. I don't know how Bruces will die but HE WILL DIE and after this happen he'll out himself as Batman. Since you ripped off my SPOILER a Lazarus pit will be used to bring him back so he can take the mantle of THE DEMONS HEAD which he'll use to train an army in the use of the YELLOW POWERINGS. Why yellow because as Batman Bruce was the master of making people afraid of the "Knight" now augment that fear using Scarecrow's gas this makes each warrior even more powerful and you can't do that with Green Lanterns. Also Darkseid would never dream of finding Bruce Wayne training an army of lethal killers armed with Yellow Power Rings to defend the Earth from his Invasion
What are you snorting, and does it come in pill form?

What I've heard is that the Martian Manhunter is going to die and Barry Allen will be coming back. I like the idea of Barry coming back, but killing off J'onn J'onzz is a mistake.
I really hope this isn't true...I am getting so tired of these damn 70's heroes coming back from the dead. I know people grew up with these characters. But I thought the best thing they did in the 90's was making new characters such as Kyle Rayner and Connor Hawke ( Gawd he got screwed). Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen never should of been brought back. This is JMHO of course. I don't expect people to agree with me.
With 52 universes, there's bound to be a lot of "Batman" versions running about, so, by saying "Batman dies", Morrison is leaving off just which Batman is the one who dies.
