"I am sorry." Strange said as he pulled the Valkyrie back to her feet, "my magics appear to have adversely affected you throughout this conflict."

Valkyrie stood up with a look of grim determination on her face. "It is of little consequence, what matters is that the battle is ours."

Shaman turned his attention to the sorcerer. "There is certainly something awry here. I will attempt to purge Dr. Strange of the darkness that seeks to consume him. You remaining Defenders ought to go on- I fear my old friend Langkowski may be in need of assistance."

"Walter Langkowski?" Banner asked, having de-hulkified now that the battle was over. "We were already on our way to see him. How do you know him?"

"He was a former teammate of mine in the Canadian superteam known as Alpha Flight. We recently parted ways after a failed mission, but when I heard word of this pack of Wendigo's I came alone to deal with them. However there is something different about them this time- they are not entirely mystical. If it had not been for your intervention I surely would have been killed."

"Just doing our job." Nighthawk smiled. "So how do you know Langkowski is in trouble?"

"In part it is my mystical senses, but also that these unusual creatures have appeared so close to his laboratory. You should take one of them with you to study."

"We'll do that. We have reason to believe he's involved with a villain that we've been tracking as well, so perhaps it is all connected."
