As much as I wish I could argue otherwise, this piece isn't that great. It's been said before, but if he had Combat Reflexes, he would be perfect. As is, he is easy to take out, and for what he is DESIGNED to do(charge up and beat people up) his attack isn't high enough and his defense is just too easy to hit. I recommend caution before using him, and extreme caution when using him. I have seen him take out too many times too easily to think of him as a definitive Batman.

It seems that either everyone here knows how to run this piece correctly or have no idea what to do with this piece. This is an amazing dial. The charge/flurry is tempting to use but he is better used for a mid range attacker/outwitter. You DO NOT use him as a main attacker and Cpt. Gordon is almost a must. Also, never have two tokens on this piece unless you absolutely have to, Cpt. Gordon is within six squares, or there is a very small chance that you will be attacked by a character with high damage potential. I find that using two perplexers with him almost allows for this piece to be used as a main attacker. Everyone complains that this piece should have toughness or combat reflexes which would have been amazing; but if you run him correctly, you shouldn't have a real problem unless you face hypersonic, you miss both times when attacking, or he is the last piece left on your team and have to go all out. Also, using charge/flurry against pieces with 2 or 3 damage max benefit Batman because even if they hit, your defense goes to an 18 w/perplex and defend. He is not a brick piece and should not be used that way. I've had great success running this piece because I run him very tactical and people underestimate him with his vanilla defense. Oh and I DO NOT recommend running him in golden age even with the possible choice of using protected.
An awesome piece to field, Batman works best starting out the game by Outwitting, knocking out low-cost enemies, and destroying obstructive terrain while the rest of the JLA handle the big bruisers. Once the JLA has weakened the opposition, Batman Charges in, cleaning up enemies with his Indomitable-Flurry. Unfortunately, this JLA team does not exist. The JLA of the Modern Age simply lacks playable, mobile-muscle that can take damage and dish it out. Batman is designed to enter the fight as a secondary attacker/support piece, and end the fight as a brawler/clean-up piece. Never should a 120 point character with a bare 17 DV be used as a tentpole. With all the anti-Stealth and HSS in today's game, it simply will not work.
Here's a little trick I do with this gem called the "Smoke n' Smash": Use Dark Knight to put a free smoke cloud around a chosen enemy. Then charge in (using some leap/climbing goodness) and flurry away. Combine with Robin's tear gas grenades for added punch.
I have to be honest, while I agree with everyone that this a a very good dial for Batman, I have to say that Batman, without at least 1 token click of Willpower, is not Batman. Yes, it would have made a great piece almost broken on top of things to some that way, but as I said, Batman HAS to have Willpower if he does not have some kind of damage reducer on his dial (and Defend does not qualify for my statement). This fact, coupled with the almost insane inability to lay hands on him, means he is not going to be my first choice to run Batman anyway. (Wish I had him though, :p)
just found a silly cloud combo for this guy: old 5 pt flashbang and the knockout gas battlefield condition. place 8 hindering makers for free, and leap/climb 5 squares and DO IT AGAIN. thats an absurd amount of smoke. still doesn't solve his lacking defenses.

Umm, he has indomitable, which means he has an entire dial in which he can push.
Also, I think people forget that Batman can be ko'ed pretty easy in the comics by the big guys, if he's not suited up properly. One hit from Superman, and he'd be crippled. Mind you not with a powered up suit. This figure is probably the best representation of Batman.
Man, these comments remind you people aren't very good at the game.
First, He has Indomitable. Not sure why people are confused about what that does, but to make it clear: he has a full dial of willpower.
Second, re: Flashbang. the Old flashbang from collateral damage has the same functionality as the flashbang from arkham asylum. Any time a card comes out with the same name, whatever the new card says supersedes the old card.
Regarding the figure: he's a lot more fun (and better) feated up. Personally, Bat & Cat are my new go to fig for a Batman fix.
As I've said before I love this fig. I raely use supporters for healing so my feat of choice is LMD. I now have a B man with Perma stealth, willpower and toughness. And for those that whine about the lack of an 11 AV .... check click #3 10 AV with perplex, and 3 damage .. oh and flurry. this is THE... GODAMN ...BATMAN :-)
I never thought of life model decoy with him. Thanks Hellboy. That makes him far more sick. I always use swingline with him, so that he can do a full move charge out of hindering terrain.
In higher point games, he qualifies for Force Field, so at least he has some Toughness mid-dial when he takes one on the chin. I like this better than LMD, so at least he has a chance at some healing later.

Easily my favorite Batman to date. OOTS is good, but this guy just feels more like Batman to me. Everytime I've played him, he's been the star of the show. Even beat a SR Phoenix in a 300 point game once, thanks to this little guy(and SR Batgirl's Perplex). If I'm playing a Detective or Gotham City theme team, this guy is always my 1st overall draft pick. His free Smoke Cloud makes it so easy to move him into position, and the Charge/3 damage Flurry allows him to drop lower point figs in a single action. Which totally makes sense and isn't too powerful because, y'know, he is the MFing Batman, after all. His lack of any front-loaded defensive power besides Willpower is a bit of a drawback but if that's got you concerned, just hang back and use his 6 range until things get a little less heavy. Between the brutal dial and jaw-dropping sculpt, this is easily a top 10 all-time figure IMO.
