I never played Batman Alpha. Oh, I have the figures, and I've used some in Heroclix. But I've never played the "alpha" game.
That is how WK should have done Halo clix. (or these "new" games) Make them use their own rules for their own game, but fully useable in Heroclix.
Horrorclix should have been 100% compatible with HC from the start. WK would have had much better sales of HrC, if HC players were (at the very least) getting a few boosters for the commons.
Get me a piece of paper saying make clix 100% compatible, and I'll sign it. That said, how long are folk going to lament that it isn't so?
All I'm saying is I understand why HALO: Reach won't be compatible. The FreddyvJason and Gremlin games are irrelevant IMO, as they are board games and not even clix-style games.

In all fairness, I think this is unnecessarily dismissive and shortsighted. Anything that brings players to the table will be good for the longevity of the game(s).
I don't know about that. This certainly isn't the best game on the market, but it is the best superhero game. If you take that away, I, and I suspect many others, would have no reason not to be playing warhammer.

My Little Pony is notoriously OP.
There was a Robocop III you know (so don't be racist)
I think your definition of "minor success" is pretty narrow in regards to Horrorclix.
By my definition of minor success is the accurate description. HorrorClix was a flash-in-the-pan, here one minute, gone the next game. How many "Save our HorrorClix" websites and fan groups were there? To be honest, I'd say 99% of HeroClix fans could care less if the game is gone.

Both have very different play mechanics, very different win conditions, etc...How does one reconcile this without alienating one player base, the other, or both?
Easily, when WizKids re-releases HaloClix, scratch the old rules, make it compatible with HeroClix, as in the same system.
I'm one of the biggest Halo fans there are... I finished reading the first novel the day the game came out so I knew what was going on in the game. I stood in line for the games. My house is filled with Halo stuff. I own all 6 Halo novels, have the comics, movie, etc. I used to run the Tacoma Xbox LAN Club that was dedicated to Halo LAN parties, and actually played with Marty O'Donnell on occasion in said LAN parties.
... With that said... HaloClix was a disaster. No one played it, it didn't sell well. I bought a few just because it was Halo. I have yet to find one person to play a game with me, out of the 3 venues I frequent.
So the only people who are waiting for this game to return, and not be HeroClix compatible are the only 3 people in the world who played it to begin with. Bottom line is no one cares, and it's going to flop this time like it flopped last time.

Sure, I'm sure the original and only 3 HaloClix fans will buy them all up and sell them all out. Go to any of the numerous comic shops or game shops in the Tacoma / Pierce County area (and there are a lot of them), they still have tons of HaloClix lining the shelves. No one wants the ####.

I totally disagree with this. We like HeroClix because it's comic-book related, and is why the game has sold so well.
If I wanted to play Terminator, Gremlins, Scooby Doo, Rainbow Bright, Glow Worms, or any other games, I'd buy those games. It's called HeroClix for a reason. Where is Mage Knight now? Where is Crimson Skies Clix now? Where are SportsClix now? Gone. The only one that was a success was Mage Knight. But where are the rabid fans? Where is the game? It's dead... because people lost interest. No interest, no sales, equals no profits. No profits means no WizKids, which means no HeroClix.

Well said, glad to see some people think like I do, and just don't blindly follow WizKids no matter what they do. WizKids could take a #### in a box, label it as CrapClix, and the fanboys would blindly fall down and worship and eat it up.

The thing is, you don't get to build your opponent's team, so you may very well have to play it even if you don't want to.
I don't understand why people have such a hard time with the notion that this is a SUPERHERO game.
If you want to play with my little pony, go play with my little pony. Stop trying to shoehorn it into heroclix.
And I think it's funny when I dead statements like that. I think to myself "Has this dude been reading comics long? Superheroes fight monsters on a surprisingly regular basis. Hell, some superheroes ARE monsters."

QFT, brother. That way you're not changing the mechanics of any other game, but the poeces can still be used in Heroclix.
There is a very clear and logical reason that Horrorclix was not made fully compatible with Heroclix and its directly connected to DC. They refused to have their Heroes associated with monsters and such. Its the same reason that some of the more mature universes from DC is offlimits for Heroclix. Its all in the name of being children friendly.
I'm sorry, but I've never seen any evidence that this was the case. DC might object to generic monsters in heroclix, but in a separate game? And stipulate that game can't be compatible? I don't buy it.

i for one really enjoy horrorclix. My collection is almost bigger than my Hero one, but maybe thats just because I can get pieces waaay cheaper.
I have a few HaloClix pieces but I've yet to play a game because I lost the rules

To be honest.... you definitely just made that figure up, and no way is it true.
Horrorclix had the potential to be huge, and could have been if it was a) compatible with Heroclix and b) wasn't so full of mistakes in every single set.
A) would have corrected the weakness of a lot of the figures - their dials would have been much more playable to make them even remotely competitive with HC. B) there's just no excuse for.
It had a huge community when it first came out. I worked for WK at Dragoncon when it came out, and the tournaments we ran were every bit as big as the HC tournaments - in some cases moreso.
Also, I challenge anyone who says it was a complete failure to check out some of the sculpts, particularly from the last set (I think it was called Nightmares?) No HC set has ever come even close to looking that good - the figs are incredible.
Horrorclix could be a huge success if they followed a simple formula. The generic potential alone would get HC players on board.. even ones who don't like some of the elements of HrC would probably want generic zombies, ghosts, etc.
In the end, Horrorclix didn't give you a reason to buy it aside from the genre, which wasn't a strong enough hook. If Heroclix was a bunch of nameless superhero figures, it wouldn't have nearly the appeal of the Marvel and DC brands.
Now with Haloclix you're dealing with another problem -- you have a strong external IP, but you have to answer the question of "Why wouldn't I just play Halo?"

I have no problem with HorrorClix being compatible, as Jason is in the Marvel Universe, and so are the Mummy, Frankenstein, Wolf-Man, Dracula, and many other monsters.

I've been saying this from the very beginning. My friends and I would have all bought HorrorClix and HaloClix in droves had it been compatible. After all, Halo is part of the Marvel Universe, and so are many of the monsters in HorrorClix.
