Figure that ought to establish my bona fides sufficiently.
I think we have a winner ladies and gentlemen!
Please see the host on the way out for parting gifts, and thanks for playing!
Not that I'm trying to compete or anything, but my wedding cake topper was made out of HeroClix & Legos (I'll have to find a picture), and my youngest daughter's name is Willow (not all that unusual, but it's definitely in reference to the Buffy character of the same name).
Trades: WITH WoL H/W, also looking for Mandarin Rings, DoFP Rares & Nimrod
Al's Clix Cave: blog

Pretty good nerd-dome there SLVR, but the guy with clix on his wedding cakes takes the freaking cake (no pun intended)...
I mean my wife is cool with all my nerdy carp and I have a good amount of it, but there is a certain level of human decency and common sense embarrassment that draws the line at desecrating the sacrament of holy matrimony with hypersonic speed batman team cheese...
I mean I can understand if it was HT Unique Superman as at least he looks like he's wearing a tuxedo, but NGN Superman stealth cheese? What's next, Skrull Ms. Marvell and M-11 on a wedding cake...
Where is the humanity people??!!!
The best part is that wedding cake guy reps me and says " The Skywalker name was my wife's idea, and *she's* the one who bought me those cufflinks. I am, obviously, a lucky man..."
Alrightttty theeeennn....
LMFAONADE!!!
Anyone who actually thinks they're lucky because their wife buys them Superman cuff links, more power to them, but c'mon man, what kind of nazi women are you guys dating/marrying that they don't simply accept you for who you are? Any woman who won't let you name your children after fictitious comic book imaginary characters can be damned to hell!!!
SHAMELESS wedding cake desecrating heroclix dorks of the finest order unite!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!! Man I haven't had this good a laugh since the thread about the guy mispronouncing Magneto, Magnet-O his entire life. Hahahaha!!!!!

I ALMOST had Silver surfer and Nova toys as the cake topper. Does that count for anything? The only reason we didn't was because the only good Nova action figure they've made was NOT in scale with any good Silver Surfer toy that had been made. The weight was far too much also.

Can't compete with wedding cake heroclix!
But I do have a basement geek cave with two shelves dedicated to heroclix in mock battles, 30 long boxes o' comics that have been accumulating since my first purchase (I can still remember it- a JLA/JSA teamup with the Earth-Shazam characters!), tons of old radio shows from the 1930's thru the 50's on cassette/CD/MP3, and over a hundred 1/48 scale model WWII airplanes. Had to keep any new lady friends out of the basement until they knew me pretty well and accepted the geekiness. Now that a girlfriend lives with me, what does she show visitors first? My bronze star from Iraq, relics from various travels, my old muscle cars in the garage, the new Harley, or my great dog? No, its the geek cave, with special attention to the complete collection of Blackest Night promo power rings.
but it's all good 'cuz I just got my SR Spectre

This was May '07, so the best Supes sculpt we had to choose from was the CD Bats TA. Sadly, the Icons version stood out as the best of a bad lot of Wonder Woman sculpts (you'll note that it's a Rookie dial, as the flight stand on my Vet was cracked).
I was driving somewhere the other day and I was thinking... how much of a geek am I? What do I do that defines me as a geek? Is it the fact I read comic books in my 40's? have couple'a superhero t-shirts? Religiously watch superheros movies no matter how bad I heard they were? I admit it, I watch Swamp Thing 2...... still traumatized by it. Then I felt in my pocket and I realized I know what defines me as a geek: I have a plastic Green lantern ring I carry with me... just in case I'm needed.
What do you do that makes you a geek?
In Brightest Day,
In Blackest Night,
watermelon, cantalope, yada yada,
with liberty and justice for all.
I wonder if people 30+, basically you would be considered MORE geekier the older you are.
Like if you see a 21 year old into comic books, you think, "Well, that figures" but a 40 year old, I wonder if people think twice about that...(I'm in my late 30's and into that kind of thing)
I dunno, just something I've wondered about. Like I often wonder if I'm 40, and just collect action figures that would be too geeky, but if I collect those high dollar "Busts" that you see on display in the comic shop, would that introduce a whole new realm of geekiness.
Nothing that has ever been published unfortunately...
I'm still in the process of "Fine Tuning" my original stories to one day be submitted.
Best of luck to you. I have been trying to get my comic out there for 2-1/2 years. I've gone through 2 artists, had a publishing company that backed out on me the last minute, spent a #### load, and now i have no artist, no company, and no real hope of every getting it produced.
But i did write FIFTEEN seasons, and plot summaries for THREE Spin-off series, and did some casting for the movie and/or live action show.
I don't drool or spit when I talk, I like NFL & Fantasy football, play hockey, football, soccer, paintball & frisbee golf (not sure which way the frisbee golf counts)
but for geekyness I love cartoons, especially comic cartoons, read comics, hang out on forums, play heroclix and have them displayed in both of my offices (home & work) and I love cool electronic gadgets
I guess I should also add the song list from my wedding. All played by a harpist friend.
FF VII prelude
Aerith's Theme
Waltz de Chocobo
I tried my DAMNDEST to sneak some Chrono Trigger tracks onto our wedding playlist, with no avail
Rep for you!
Not a whole lot of interesting nerd-dom on this end. I think the only good one I would have ia attending Comicon NY 2007 and feeling UNCOMFORTABLY NERDY for the 2 days I was there
Other than that, I bought a guitar to teach myself to play video game covers.
Even the miscreants at Guitar Center looked at me funny
I thought you named her Willow from the movie Willow. I forgot all about Buffy's Willow.
I have the movie too, but it definitely came from the Buffy character. The whole story behind choosing the name is in this blog, and the comic proves that even my 3 year old is a geek.
And since Tollas brought up wedding songs, our first dance was to "Under Your Spell" from "Once More, with Feeling."
I have a Transformers tattoo, which I plan to add more to shortly. And entire room of statues and action figures, posters, 30+ comic shirts, random, comic and cartoon memorabilia all around my house. Been a geek since the early 80's lol.
