Great, so Nekron and Black Hand, two of the biggest players in the Blackest Night storyline, are chases. We were at a decent place with chase figures, with more obscure variants ending up in those slots. Thorbuster, Thor Frog, Sinestro Corps Batman, the SI Skrulls. This sucks, as I really want both chase pieces.
OK, got my initial negative response out of the way. THe rest of the news is good, and I'm eagerly anticipating the new sets and releases. Overall I'm excited for this.
My track record for getting chase figures hasn't been that great. I've got three out of a total of 16(?). Not thrilled about Nekron being relegated to chase figure.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.

My luck with chases has been simply abysmal. I've pulled 1 out of the roughly 200 packs I opened in sets with chases.

Is this the first time that we had confirmed info on the chases from the set before we've had a full set list?
Also, I'm way passed annoyed that we haven't seen the tournament kit info for B&TB. We're almost three weekends away from release and I'd like to start planning my venues tournament schedule for April / May.
What would likely be in a DC 75th anniversary set? The big three probably but what else? Would they attempt to represent each decade like the Marvel set was supposed to do?
Well, that's such a vague "theme", that any DC character could fit into such a set. After all, any DC character is part of the 75 years of DC history, right?
However, if it is truly meant to be a celebration of DC's history, here's what I would do:
Celebrate the 1940's
We already have both a low-powered Golden Age Superman and a high-powered Earth-2 Superman, so we don't need those again. But there are lots of 1940s characters that we could get. For big names, I would use the following:
1. Golden Age (but not just First Appearance) Wonder Woman. This would be significantly different from the Origins First Appearance Wonder Woman.
2. The Marvel Family. Possibly put all three on one dial, call it a "duo" figure and we're good. And while they're not originally DC, they're part of DC's history now.
For lesser known but needed characters, I would add:
3. The Golden Age Atom (Al Pratt)
4. The Golden Age Mr. Terrific
5. The Golden Age Hourman
6. The Golden Age Dr. Mid-Nite
And then to fully celebrate DC's aquisition of other companies' characters, I would add:
7. The Golden Age Blue Beetle
8. The Golden Age Black Condor
9. The Golden Age Ray
(other Freedom Fighters are available)
And then let's start on the All-Star Squadron:
10. The Golden Age RobotMan
11. Johnny Quick (Johnny Chambers)
12. The female Firebrand
13. The Golden Age Shining Knight
14. The Golden Age Speedy (needed for the Seven Soldiers team)
Whew, lots of Golden Agers. Now, let's move on to the next decade, the 1950's. Not a lot was happening then until nearly the end of the decade. Still we could have the following:
15. Captain Comet
16. First Appearance Silver Age Supergirl
17. Bat-Mite
18. Streaky
19. Wonder Tot
Then, we come to the 1960's. So many choices, though most of the classic characters have already been done.
20. Elastic Lad. A cheap Superman Ally with useful keywords (LSH, teen, etc).
21. Curt Swan's Silver Age Superman. You thought the Earth-2 Superman was powerful? You ain't seen nothin' yet.
Then, the 1970s...
22. Neal Adams Batman
23. Puffy Shirt/Hot Pants Supergirl
Then the 1980s... my mind's going blank on good 1980s characters that haven't been made yet... I think I'm getting tired of listing characters now.
Then the 1990s... well there are no good 1990s characters. But, stick in a Bane or two and I guess people will be happy.
Then the 2000s. But most of these flash in the pans have already been made.
How appropriate that "Blackest Night" should upset me so (lame-sauce deputies) and the announcement of "Brightest Day" (almost assuredly the defacto Lanterns) should re-affirm my faith in the game.
"Web of Spiderman"? I can take it or leave it but rarely has a Marvel set let me down so any news is a cause for rejoicing.
Okay, now that the 'gasm has subsided (and thanks for the date correction) I am very disturbed at only ONE Marvel release all year.
I'm a Marvel only kinda guy and while the thought of a Spider-man based set (full 60 piece set!) is all kinds of awesome, I am saddened that I only get one Marvel release for 2010.
Why the lack of Marvel love alla sudden? I thought Marvel sets typically outsell DC sets.
Full expansions have alternated between Marvel and DC for a long time now.
Supernova
Origin
Avengers
Justice League
Mutations & Monsters
Crisis
Secret Invasion
Arkham Asylum
Hammer of Thor
Brave and the Bold
Web of Spider-Man
DC 75
If that pattern continues, then 2011 will bring two Marvel expansions (March and November) and one DC expansion (August).

I'd love to see this as a Heroes through the ages set, i.e.
1) Mr. Terrific (Terry Sloane)
2) Mr. Terrific (Michael Holt)
3) Atom (Golden Age)
4) Atom Smasher
5) Atom (as in Hawkman's pal)
6) Wildcat 1 (Ted Grant)
7) Wildcat 2 (Yolanda)
8) Wildcat 3 (Ted's Kid)
9) Alan Scott
10) John Stewart
11) Guy Gardner
12) Robin (Dick)
13) Robin (Jason)
14) Robin (Current) - we don't need another Tim, and I love Tim
and the same thing done with Villains. Classic Villains through the ages, updated where necessary. It'd really be cool if the majority of the set was represented in at least two versions, sometimes with different people portraying the character.

I'd like anything L.E.G.I.O.N. related for the 90s like maybe Vril Dox.
I'll take a Swamp Thing remake for the 80s.

At least the presence of those chases all but confirms that the Lantern lieutenants should be in the main B&B set. All 6 of 'em as seeing as Hal's in the BN Starter. Just my .02 cents.
