The thing for me about the watchmen set is that it has 25 characters...Who are they? The movie (on which the set is based i believe) only had like 12 characters in it.
Here's what I'm expecting, based on characters who appeared in the movie:
Watchmen
---------
Comedian
Doctor Manhattan
Daniel Dreiberg Nite Owl
Ozymandias
Rorschach
Laurie Juspeczyk Silk Spectre
Minutemen
---------
Hollis Mason Nite Owl
Sally Jupiter Silk Spectre
Captain Metropolis
The Hooded Justice
The Dollar Bill
The Mothman
The Silhouette
Villains
--------
Moloch The Mystic
Big Figure
Roy Chess (the assassin hired to kill Ozymandias)
Knot Top Gang Leader
Knot Top Gang Member
Add in a cop or two, two versions of the Comedian (for young and old), maybe a detective or two (Steven Fine, Jon Bourquin?), and WK will probably feel obligated to add a couple duos ( ), and you've got your 25.
I'm really looking forward to it for the 13-14 superhero dials (not counting duos) we'll be getting (or we SHOULD be getting). Should be enough options there to give lots of team-building options. If we get 3 gang members (leader and two members) and 3 cops (detective and two beat cops) as generics, I think that would be damned fine as well!
CarlosMucha: that is like be running in a Olimpic race competition just one step to get the gold and then a Giant children place a mirror in your side and you discover what you are really a hamster over a whell and the gold is just a slice of chess. Avatar Summoning: Original GotG, Melter, Whiplash
not along the watchmen lines, a friend who attended mentioned that the red hulk was a double based, straddling them in an 'aggressive' pose (no pictures, just a description, and acting it out doesn't translate well to words)
I can generate $30 in disposable income fairly easily.
$100 requires more planning.
That's economics.
Planning is economics. Refusing to do so is psychology.

I do cobble the money together ($109) but it brings me 50 figures. So at $109, I am paying $2.18 a figure. Watchmen at 25 x $2 should be about $50, which I would consider.
I assume you're referring to ten boosters? If so, then the economic models for the two purchases are not directly comparable. You're naming the per-unit cost under the blind booster model, while I compared it to the per-unit cost for a similar fixed-set model.
I can just imagine Deadpool pulling some goofy stunt on Rorschach, who has no sense of humor.
Then Rorschach drops Deadpool down an elevator shaft.
Then Deadpool regenerates.
And then we start all over again.
Like on the "I'm a marvel / I'm I DC" YouTube Videos? They even have a cool theme song for Roschach and Deadpool.
100 dollars is a lot for the Watchmen set. It was a lot more palatable when I thought that one of those 25 figures was going to be the Colossal Dr. Manhattan. I'm going to get one, don't worry, but I think of Watchmen-Clix in the same way as the movie: unncessary, will make me angry if it's not perfect, but I'm still going to get one.
This is What I Want(ed, circa GSX/2010): Nextwave ATA: 100 pts. may use all Team Abilities as long as force is only Nextwave keyword.
Planning is economics. Refusing to do so is psychology.
Let me clarify:
Disposable Income in 1.5 months minus $30 vs Disposable Income in 1.5 months minus $100 is economics.
I just dropped $100 on 50 figures already and in 4 months I will spend another $100 on another 50 figures.
I can fit a $30-$35 dollar purchase in there. An additional $100 on top of it is not economically feasible at this time without drastic changes in other spending.

I disagree since we are talking about price per HeroClix figure.
If we are paying $2.40 a figure MSRP then:
1 5-figure booster @ $11.99
25 figure "set" would cost $60 = $2.40 per figure
1 4-figure booster @ $9.99
+ 1 mini-map (making it .40 for map)
25 figure "set" would cost $62.50 = $2.50 per figure
Fantastic Four Starter @ $24.99
+ 1 full sized map
+ Rule book
+ objects / debris / terrain
+ PAC (cost of extras is $8.19)
25 figure "set" cost $89.25 = $3.57 per figure
Watchmen @ $99.99
+ Box (cost of Box is $40)
25 figure set does cost $100 = $4.00 per figure
Psychologically speaking, Watchmen, while interesting, is not, for me, worth $4 a figure. And so economically its not within reach without sacrifices that are not worth it.
If they offered an Uncanny X-Men set of 25 figures for $100, then psychologically I might try to make it work economically.
That's the way I see it, anyway.
That being said, its clear to me Watchmen Clix is targeted to comic and collectible fans over HeroClix players with so much cost and emphasis on what the packing is. So really I am not the target consumer. I guess we could say thanks for considering us when they made these min-statues and decided to incorporate a potential gaming opportunity with them.
I do look forward to endeavors that are focused more on the gaming aspect over the collectible aspect from NECA, however.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
My good friend who is also my LCS, went to the retail's summit at C2E2 and reported this back to me:
1. No picture/mention of Red Hulk or Nightcrawler (NOOOOO!)
2. NECA is taking a BEATING on the hefty price tag for the Watchmen set.
3. Confirmed that the Web of Spidey brick fig is Amazing Fantasy 15 Spiderman
4. NO NEW MAP PACKS! NONE!
5. Old news but there will be 2 colossal Dr. Manhattens: 1 retail, 1 con exclusive.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Thank you, that is good news about the brick figure from WOS, and the Nightcrawler. They definitely have to make him again; I would love that!!!
I've already preordered mine. I understand with many of the complaints but don't agree with them. I'm psyched for this set.
Likewise.
As I wrote before, I believe if there were only *four* Watchmen chase figures inserted randomly into a booster expansion that people would be more than willing to spend $100 each on them.
I can understand retailers being unhappy, as they cannot use wholesale discounts to break cases into sets. I pay MSRP and don't rely on the secondary market, so this doesn't bother me.
I am not likely to get a Dr. Manhattan colossal, because it is very rare that I use the colossals I do own.

You no moron.
There will be some stupid sick power combos that will come from that set that people will want.
BTW, I have no inside info.
Just a prediction.
