I guess I am alone in this, but I love the duo figures! I love duo figures in general, and I am excited to see how the Rorschach & Nite Owl duo play. The only piece I don't get is the Intrinsic Field Experiment. That seems kind of out of nowhere. I'll have to wait and see what it does before I decide if I like it or not.
Still, I'm pretty excited for this set. The sculpts they've shown so far look pretty great and the dials are interesting. I think this is definitely a great set.
You are not alone. As a huge Watchmen fan, I like that there are duos. It gives me more options if I want to use a particular favorite character or two, whether it be for theme teams, point cost, or whatever.
Sometimes I might want Giant Manhattan, other times I might want Zen Manhattan, and I'd even use Silk Spectre/Manhattan on occasion. They are all very different figures playable wise, so it's cool with me especially since we're likely to never see any other Watchmen figures again down the road.
Gulyadkin Victims List: Spider-Man (ASM 001b), Green Goblin (M10A 004).
Black Panther R (IC) Mjolnir Attempts: 2 for 2! HE IS WORTHY!
I just canceled my pre-order today based on this image. This set looks awful.
I hate the duos and the duplicates like many others, but I just cannot abide the missing figures! If this set had all of the original Minutemen, I could grok spending the money, but there's really only about 5 figures here I would want, and that sure isn't worth $100.

When I first heard about Watchmen, I was excited and ready to buy.
When I saw the $100 price tag, the excitement dropped and I thought I'd pass.
When I saw some of the figs, the excitement rose and I thought I may buy it after all.
Now that I have seen everything, I'm going to pass.
Sure, some of them are cool, but I expected, at the very least, the complete rosters of the Watchmen and Minute Men. That should have just been a given. Now, no Dollar Bill, Mothman or Silhouette? And I can't tell if any of the Owl's or Spectre's are the originals (hopefully they are). That is just a shame. Ball was dropped.
My comment on the Giant vs. Duo vs. Zen vs. Colossal Manhattan... I think the reason for those figures is that they represent different times in the movie -- and different power levels. Dr. Manhattan was becoming more powerful all throughout the history/movie, so these are all different representations of the only guy who actually changed in power levels throughout the story.
The Giant Manhattan is from Vietnam in the 70s. He was tough, but not nearly at the power level he was at by the end of the movie.
The Duo represents him as a member of the superhero team -- again, powerful, but NOT the "becoming a god" powerful at the end of the movie. So Silk Spectre probably did provide some close-combat firepower to that duo teamup.
We haven't seen the dial of the Colossal yet, but if he's pushing around 600/800/1000/up to 1800 points, then this is the Manhattan from the very end of the movie... the one who survives Veidt's machine. Super-powered.
Just think of it like you're getting an REV/LE of Manhattan. The Giant is the Rookie, the Duo is the LE, Zen is the E, and the Colossal (I would expect) to be the V.
As for the machine thing in the lower right hand corner, maybe it is a 3D object.
As for whether I will buy this or not... I am still very much on the fence and haven't decided yet.
Did we even see the full cast of Minute Men in the movie? They could only give us charactors we SAW. They couldn't do anything that was only comic related. I'm actully fairly excited for this set. But I'm thinking that the single figures of the main cast will all sell pretty high. Rorschach and Zenhatten will be 20-30 doller singles. But I like some Duos and the ones here do make sense. Though I do with Bubastis was ONLY in the duo figure. Just because I never liked him much.
But yeah, I'm picking this up.
I play Heroclix, Pathfinder, and retro video games on Twitch!

We had those group shots at the beginning of the film, which had a number of characters, however briefly. Captain Metropolis and young Moloch made the set, and there wasn't much more about them in the movie than Dollar Bill, Mothman, or Silhouette.
I'm looking at the set as a tremendous unforced error on Wizkids' part. Could have satisified most people's interest with the standard 7 figures in a collector's set. Could have reached the diehards by doing a dozen to 15. Instead, they made it a padded 25 and given additional reasons besides the price for people not to buy it.
I'm happy and will buy this set. However, my favorite parts of the movie were the two scenes in which Nite Owl and Silk Spectre kicked some serious butt! One was in the alley, the other was in the prison.
So, if we were going to get duos I was really hoping for a Nite Owl/Silk Spectre duo. Not complaining, just commenting.
Agree totally!

I get the feeling this is in large part DCs mandate. I mean, the timing is all wrong for a set like this of this size tied to this incarnation of the movie, and, really, WK has gotta know that. I feel like DC may have stepped in and said "We'll give you Watchmen if you make it the Clix version of the Absolute Edition. 'Cause it's Watchmen."
Unless WK does think this'll sell. And hell, it probably will. But mostly to Heroclix completists rather than Watchmen super-fans.
I agree with the masses on this one. Their is way too much replication. All of the Minutemen should have been there and we did not need a field generator.
I was really pumped for this set, but now that I see it, I will gladly wait for the main six (hopefully that happens) and skip the duos, giant, thugs and knot tops. I would have liked Moloch, Big Figure, but I can't justify spending an extra $70 for those two, and having Hooded Justice without the old school heroes will just annoy me.
And yet weirdly only a few weeks ago we were hearing masses of complaints about how the Watchmen set would be full of repetetive dials af all those non-powered characters with very little to distinguish them. Now we know they aren't there...
I can't believe the outcry from such a blurry picture. At least three of these are completely indecipherable. In the bottom row that could easily be Silhouette, Hollis Mason and a Top Knot. (Okay, we all know that one has to be a higher point Top Knot key worded character, but I'm just saying). I have no idea who No. 6, 12 or 13 is. Not a single clue.
But I do know that the Rorschach is perfect, the Dr. Manhattans are amazing. The duos are great representations of a those team ups (and you know a big portion of the book is about variations of couples and how they exist to each other and in the world).
I adore Watchman (the book) I've read it enough times to know that, honestly, I don't know what Mothman, Silhouette or even Dollar Bill could do - outside of standing around in a few scenes they were really non-characters. Them not being in the set doesn't bother me an iota. But no Hollis Mason (or probably no Hollis Mason) is a bit of a downer. But it's not going to stop me from buying the set.
Nonetheless, from what we've seen to this point, these are really, really well made pieces. Exciting representations of characterss *I* (for one) have been hoping to get but never expecting. I can't wait to see the dial for Ozymandias and Nite Owl.
I'm really surprised there's so much negativity to something that looks so awesome.
I take that back. I want to be really surprised but it's the 'realms. I just gotta forget about it, Jake. It's the 'Realms.
Well, Sihuotte woud have perplex but only work with female figures.
Dollar Bill would give you a discount of points on the build total and
MothMan would have tacke double damage from figures with POISON.
