Common figures - static sculpts=cheaper production

Rare figures - more dynamic, see through plastic=cost more............

I can only see it as keeping the cost down for us consumers.

Too many grunts for Rock! I'm sure somebody has mentioned Checkmate Black Knights and Rocky. That seems wrong in the right way!

Lame sculpts. As a customer and player, I don't care about cost reduction. Boosters aren't cheap.

There are a lot of good covers to inspire a better sculpt. Something like this would be way better for Rock:

Wow. All my friends have learned to fear my army of Blackhawks led by Uncle Sam... pair Sgt. Rock and a few of the Easy boys up with them and... holy flip.

Then you know what? Put one of the old Sgt. Rock sculpts on the new base. A rookie Rock will probably run you a quarter at most.

My veteran easy company medic should come in handy when I put my easy company team together.

Grunts are cool. However, I'm still mixed about Rock : the V version from Cosmic Justice was just so great for the points, and PD TA is something the new one doesn't have...
On the other hand : new Rock+7 new grunts leave you with 22 points that can easily be spent in a V Easy Company medic that will bring you the TA+Support, just in case...

The checkmate people seem like the guys to go to for Rock and crew.

Mad Marie and Checkmate Knight Black help with Dam. Add some Pawns and the CHeckmate Ata (Also to help with Dam output and they will get WP to use it more ofter thanks to WP)

Cheap is a relative term. I pay (minimum) $3.80 a fig for unbuilt, unpainted Warhammer 40k figs, whereas HC figs are $1.20 (by the booster).

Personally I don't think the sculpts need to be in action poses, so I am liking how they seem be using covers from "first appearances" for a lot of these sculpts. Although the cover you linked would have made a cool Sgt. Rock FFFAN.

Yeah, I'm confused by that as well. 18D up close (higher if they're adjacent to Rock)? These guys are a bit better than normal soldiers, but they're still just WWII troopers, not super-ninjas.

Yeah, they're great generics game-wise. But how the heck does this dial fit a member of Easy Co.? I like the RS, I like the synergy with Rock, I like the WP...but the CR shouldn't be on the dial. IMO ES/D would be a MUCH better fit, as they're actually trained to hunker down to avoid getting shot up. That would have felt more "WWII trooper" to me.

But what the heck...they're out there, they're generics with good dials...I'll be collecting them.

It's almost like the dial had two designers. One that viewed them as "trench troopers," another who was thinking "fix bayonets!"

Still, I can deal.

Man I am loving this set! Another great preview! Remember guys our boys are trained slightly how to defend themselves in hand to hand combat, but I would have preferred their defenses to have been nekkid.

I'd like to think that my time in the military made it so Thor has only a 50/50 chance to hit me (when I'm backed by Rock)...but that could be ego talking.
