What exactly did the beta offer? Was it the start of the game but you could only go so far and do certain missions? Was it the full out game, just not totally complete? I heard some random NPC's didn't have voices and talk like they do in the normal game (ALA citizens yelling for help).
Just curious.
PC had everything (at least some folks did), PS3 had levels 1-20. After a bit the game had all the voices and whatnot.
Ok. Well I've played it for only an hour or maybe 1.5 hours so far. I found it to be worth it just from that point because I want to keep playing and get deeper into the game and advance. That's without even scratching the surface.
From your estimates, once I get past the surface and deep into the game, it ends up being not worth it?
Ok. I've never played an "MMO." So for me it's like "woah, what the, wow, oh sweet!" type of deal.
From what I have heard about games like WoW, they expand the world all the time right? Will DCU be similar? Or will it have an end? Probably based on popularity I assume?

It's not all the time The WOW expansions typically come every 2 years while consoles are a completely different animal. The expansions for consoles can be loaded on a server and sent directly to an individual hard drive via services like PSN (PRETTY SUCKY NETWORK or the far better X-Box Live ). It will have an end because eventually you'll have to shell out money for DC UNIVERSE Online 2 and from what I know of the game you've got to beat the game six times to get all the achievements and unlockable content

DCUO is supposed to have monthly content updates.
I assume you don't know much about the game, because there is no "beating" an MMO.
There was a Robocop III you know (so don't be racist)

That would be hilarious if they completely ended WoW though. Just suddenly ended it after they beat some dragon or whatever. And all the millions of people playing just stand there and are like "man, that was quite a run." And just walked away then their computers shut off and they all just sat there. Like it was some decade long acid trip. Similar to the one I'm on right now. Where am I?
Hey Milo Garret you added me as a friend so lets play sometime! I will be on all day tomorrow so lets hit it up, my current level is 11 maybe 12 by tonight.
Hey, if you want to pay a $45 non-refundable up front security deposit on a game you have to pay $15 a month to rent, then who I am to say you're pissing your money away?
Yeah, I'm probably better off just buying a case of beer each month, or maybe that morning coffee before work every day.
Better yet, I'll buy a HeroClix booster. After all, I might get a White Lantern.

This game is way better than I thought it would be! It is so fun and I have just been soloing, lvl 20 now, once I hit 30 I am going to get into all the group activities, raids, alerts, etc..

You might be forgetting with the exception of Heroclix, those are all one time use things. Once you buy Heroclix, they don't go away. You own them, you can actually do... whatever you want with them. You can't drink them (Well, it's difficult) or eat them... well... you COULD eat them it's just not recommended. But unlike a video game which is extremely ephemeral, your heroclix are an investment in your continued fun for quite some time. The MMO will run 5-8 years and be done, all your work will be gone with it. But 10 years from now you can still bust out the clix and play a game.
So... not really a fair comparison there. Perhaps if you had to lease beer that might work... but I don't think they'd really want it back at the end.
