Avengers turn 5c

The green behemoth known simply as the Hulk rushed at Ant-Man and Thor, but Iron Man intercepted him. The Hulk held a heavy piece of scientific equipment, wielding the improvised weapon like a pillow in his clenched fist. “Hulk smash!” he bellowed.

Ant-Man seemed to react coolly but inside he was angry. The ruthless attack on the Scarlet Witch had knocked her out, and Ant-Man needed to keep the Avengers in the fight. With the green energies of the Soul Gem slipping out from between the fingers of his closed hand, Ant-Man felt the anger rising in him. ‘Yessss,’ he could almost hear – from the gem itself?...

Hank felt the draw of the Soul Gem and let its energies flash out and envelop the Hulk. The muscular, misunderstood, green hero seemed to pause as the strange sensation of the Soul Gem’s assault began to take effect.

The Hulk would not be denied. He roared in anger at the discomfort, but it slowed him little. He raised the chunk of equipment above his head.

At the last moment, Iron Man leapt into the fray. “Look out!” the Golden Avenger shouted. He angled his armored body just right, taking the force of the blow on his gauntlet and forearm so that the heavy piece of equipment shattered harmlessly into thousands of pieces. ‘I feel much better in this suit,’ Rhodey thought to himself. ‘My vision ain’t blurred, and there’s no headache…’

Thor noticed the emanations of the Soul Gem in Ant-Man’s hand and appeared to recognize the temptations it represented. “Thou wouldst wield powers not meant for mortals,” Thor said to Ant-Man. “We have other enemies to fight,” he added, grabbing Ant-Man. “Though it pains me to raise my hand against a fellow Asgardian, Valkyrie remains in the thrall of Thanos.” The God of Thunder slid to his right and loosed his birthright once again: Lightning flashed through the large hall housing the supercollider once again, followed by a deafening clap of thunder. Valkyrie cried in pain as the powerful attack hit home.

Meanwhile, Vision and Mockingbird advanced to confront those who had knocked out Scarlet Witch. Mockingbird vaulted expertly in front of the armed raccoon-being and the spaceman-sharpshooter. Unfortunately, they slipped away before she could muster an attack. They had blocked her view of Dr Strange, who hit Mockingbird with a powerful close-range spell.

Mockingbird went flying backward but she recovered quickly. Despite her injuries, she returned to confront Wanda’s assailants.



- Eros/Starfox uses Support on Spider-Man > 10 and 15 > roll: 5+6=11 SUCCESS, Support > roll: 3; Spider-Man gets 1 click back. Starfox takes 1 damage per special rules.
- Black Panther leaps to K14.

Avengers turn 6c

Having altered his body's mass to become diamond-hard, Vision was able to withstand a withering attack by the beautiful golden-skinned man. "Recent Avengers reports indicate that you defeated Wonder Man and Tigra," the Vision stated in an even voice. "You will not have such an easy time with me." Confronting two opponents, Vision struck at Valkyrie.

Mockingbird knew that the situation was increasingly troubling. She pushed herself to exploit her own close combat expertise. She feinted and then lunged, landing a strong kick to the small raccoon-like being confronting her. As the mammal flew backwards, she vaulted along with it to keep it occupied.



- Vision attacks Valkyrie/Samantha Parrington using CCE > 9 vs 17 > roll: 4+6=10 HIT; Rocket Raccoon has PC > re-roll: 4+3=7 MISS.
- Ant-Man uses the Soul Gem to attempt Support on Thor > 9 and 16 > roll: 4+2=6 FAIL.

As quickly as Mockingbird chased after Rocket, the super-intelligent Raccoon was back up on his feet.

"That just ticked me off." He growled, and leap onto the womans face and began clawing at it. Mockingbird screamed in pain as she tried to get the animal off of her, but was driven into a wall and fell unconscious from the impact.

"Who's next?!" He shouted.

On the other side of the room, Gamora called upon the power of her Gem and felt her muscles surging with energy. The rush pushed her forward, maneuvering behind the unjolly green giant that was unsuccessfully trying to smash his way past Iron Man, leaping up and using his neck as a grapple point. As she swung around, she caught both Hulk and Iron Man by surprise, giving her enough clearance to stab her blade into the window that was implanted in the iron avengers chest.

The breach in his armor let loose a surge of power and quickly shut the suit down to protect the wearer, causing Rhodey to fall limp. A clunking sound could be heard as the armor rolled down the stairs.

The blade smoked with energy as Gamora brought it up, a minor consequence of having been imbedded into the suits power core as it suffered its meltdown. Had Gamora not been protected by the Power Gem, it was likely that she would have suffered the same. Or worse.

"Hulk want to smash Thor?" Gamora asked, her sinister simile ever growing as the battle went on. Her voice took on a salacious hint as she offered Hulk words of encouragement to go do what she knew he wanted to do already. "Go smash Thor."

Guardians Turn 7
Free) Adam Warlock uses the Reality Gem, Counters all powers on Ant-Man.
Free) Gamora uses the Power Gem, gains +2 Damage.

1) Gamora uses Charge with Willpower, moves to D13 and attacks Iron Man with Exploit Weakness. Attack is 11 vs 18, Gamora rolls 5,2 (7), hitting for 5 damage through toughness. Iron Man is KOed, and Gamora gets 7 IA/TA.

2) Rocket Raccoon will attack Mockingbird, 8 vs 15. Attack roll is 5,3 (8), hitting for 2 damage and KOing Mockingbird. Rocket gets 4 IA/TA.

Free) Rocket uses Outwit, counters Invulnerability on Eros/Starfox.

"Thank you Green-Lady" Hulk smiled and charged at Thor. "Hulk Smash!" He cried as he tackled the Thunder-god. Meanwhile down in the middle of the Collider, the Vision was shifting density in order to withstand the Valkyrie's brutal assault.

"It matters not how strong you can become," Val cried, "you shall not best a chooser of the slain." She clearly staggered the android, slashing with her mystical sword Dragonfang.

Dr. Strange turned to face Eros. "Something is not right here..." he said, his eyes narrowed. "You are not yourself. Perhaps the Eye of Agammato can shed some light here." Strange turned the mystical amulet on Eros and he cried out as if an internal war was being waged within him. "Fascinating."

Defenders Turn 7

1) Hulk will Charge Thor to F14. AV of 10 vs DV of 16. Needs a 6. Rolls a 9 (6+3). Hit for 2 clicks after Invulerability.

Two things, Wakanda: in the Recap, you applied the damage from Hulk's attack mistakenly to Black Panther; and Hulk has 3 damage, so Thor took 1 damage after reducing for Invulnerability... I'll fix that here...

Hmmm....I had Hulk on the wrong click I guess. But I also forgot about Valkyrie's special damage power which means that he deals an extra click anyway.

oops, i thought her Special Power supplemented the Attack value of friendly characters...

Personally, I'm surprised he didn't grab the HO under Ant-Man while he was at it for the 2 damage even beyond that.

i think Hulk couldn't have grabbed the object from under Ant-Man because Hulk had Charge (not Leap/Climb) and Hulk became adjacent to an opposing figure and so had to stop, no?...

Yeah, I just thought that he could grab the object as he moved into the square or prior to his move actually stopping or whatever it is.

But the again, my rules-fu is weak, so it wouldn't surprise me if I was wrong on the matter.
