I think the Fourth World (New Gods and Apokolips) would have been a better theme for an event, but I am glad they are doing it as Batman and not Fourth World since I am not as big of a Batman fan as I am a Kirby fan. This way, I won't feel as too bad if I don't get one of the prizes.
I don't know much about the No Man's Land storyline, but from the Wikipedia article it seems interesting enough. Hopefully it will generate some new urban maps. It would be cool to get a series of maps that all link together to create a mega-map, with some kind of territory control mechanism. Anyway, more Batman is a good thing, I think.

This is what I had thought originally.
Thanos = Darkseid in my mind.
But then I remembered that Batmobile that we'd seen pics of and started worrying.
Well *personally* I'd have gone with the Shadow War story with Hawkman from the mid 80s, but I can see why that might not have been on the table.
A second choice would probably have been based around the James Robinson Starman series, especially the Grand Guignol story.
A more marketable, (although, probably not as marketable as Batman) suggestion would be the Cosmic Odyssey story.
I've not actually had a chance to read it myself, but I've heard it's quite good. It's got a sweeping galactic storyline and features both popular characters (Darkseid, the trinity) and some unclixed characters (mostly other New Gods).

I would have loved a Fourth World event, especially if it had entailed multiple Darkseid storylines, such as my favorite, "The Great Darkness Saga."
Mother Box could have been a good item to build with.

My problem with the utility belt is , is anyone even going to run the damn thing . Choosing it over the Gauntlet was a bad misstep for NECA .
Since we as of yet have zero idea what the belt will actually do, hard to say.
I see the belt being a bag of silver bullets, nerfing, and other Batman goodness. Giving the ability to take a close combat action after using L/C, granting outwit/perplex/pc, giving stealth w/ free action smoke screen, the ability to one hit KO anybody since Batman is always prepared, etc.
I'm glad it isn't based on the Rainbow Lanterns and their never-ending hissy fits with each other.
1. We already have all the lanterns, so this kind of event would be either reprinting or retooling things a lot of people already have.
2. The Lanterns these days have received an extraordinary amount of love between the Arkham Asylum Sinestro Corps members, the host of figures from DC75, the Green Lantern Fast Forces pack, AND the upcoming Rainbow Lanterns Fast Forces pack, not to mention whichever pieces show up in the Justice League and various Batman sets.
3. The Utility Belt seem fine to me. Setting a precedent that these resource dials have to be uber-cosmic limits the creative options for Wizkids. I like that they are making it clear that these can be many things.
4. No Man's Land, while hardly the big deal that Infinity Gauntlet was, was still a pretty entertaining long-form story event. More importantly, though, it featured Batman characters. Right now we are seeing tournament players come out of the woodwork with their appreciation for big-point power pieces, with a minority of them actual fans of the particular cosmic characters featured. Let's face it, there is no Gardener fan club. When this event hits, it might pull less of the players in it only for the high-power pieces, but it will pull a lot more of the people who love comic book characters. Virtually all of the possibilities for characters they could use are characters more well-known than any of the Infinity Gauntlet characters. Yes, I am saying it - Killer Croc is more widely recognized than even Adam Warlock. Rabid fans of Batman comics, movies, cartoons, etc. will be calling out the various figures as ones they absolutely have to have. Yeah, I know a lot of people feel that way about the Grandmaster, but can you imagine how many more will be doing so if that Joker/Harley fig, for example, is a No Man's Land prize?
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.

Excellent idea. The New Gods would be on a somewhat similar level with the IG figures. It would also be a good opportunity to get some of those characters that people have been asking for for years and for them to remake characters like Orion and Kalibak.

Pretty much, but Marvel keeps powering up Thanos to make him more powerful than Darkseid.

I guess you have never seen WOS Nightcrawler, HOT Captain America, Skrull Miss Marvel or WOS Bullseye? Both companies have their share of overpowered figures. I'm so tired of hearing this argument.
There were two possibilities they could have gone with.
1- do something exactly like the IG event.
Or
2- do something different.
If they chose to do something different I would have thought these would have been excellent:
Kingdom Come: Each week you get to duke it out for a chance to get an exclusive LE of a character from Kingdom Come. Participation prizes would be an object from the restaurant Planet Krypton. The final week, each team would fight on the Gulag Map and the winner would receive a Captain Marvel figure.
JLA World War Three
If they decided to do the same thing ten the War Of Light would have made more sense as you could collect the different entities and Krona in the end.
I'm happy with No Man's Land as long as the LEs make it worth it.
I'm going to hit him really, really hard with a big green boxing glove............ I'm kidding. - Hal Jordan
No Man's Land would have actually been on my top 3 for tabletop events (not stories... but then again, some of the best stories would translate horribly to the tabletop).
Wrecked cities (maps), involvement from Luthor (LE's?), and bat-goodness (Utility belt+gadgets)...
