My mistake...I was misunderstanding the difference between "making a close combat attack as a free action" and "being given a close combat action as a free action"....sort of like how chrisdosmil up there misunderstood the difference between me politely asking for an explanation and him responding like a giant prick!

Doomhammerx, when you see a post in the rules forum with an orange hue surrounding Thr avatar, it signifies that person as a "Rules Deputy," and that posts by them are official rules text. So the post made by an "Orange" in the first couple of posts would be an official ruling. This is more of a "for further reference" thing, as generally speaking as you might have not known that.

It's true that chrisdosmil wasn't being a jerk there. At the same time, chrisdosmil, maybe we should give really new guys a break?

Well, it's possible that the best course is to have all his posts automatically in "spoiler" boxes, with "enter at your own risk" warnings...

It was wierd this past week, i must have hit half a dozen posts in a row by chrisdomil where he gave simple and correct rules responses with no snark attached. I was worried about him...

I just want to clarify that in no way am I looking for any sympathy here. I will be the first to admit that I am an extreme noob and I do not take this game as seriously as most. I work, have a family and have other hobbies...I am just looking for a causal gaming expeirence to share with some buddies a couple nights a week. I may have been a bit jaded when i responded to Chris because in the past week or two of learning the game I have posted to this forum and others like it with some ruling questions, and have been met with a good amount of ridicule. I am simply trying to better understand the game and I come to you guys, the seasoned vets and experts for guidance. It would have been a different story if i had argued my point or been a jerk, but when I just simply didnt understand the wording (which i think we can all agree in a game like this can be a bit ambiguous at times) I am not looking to have my hand held like a child or be made to feel stupid. I appreciate the guidance in learining to better navigate these boards and hope to be able to come to you guys with my further questions and maybe one day help others like myself who are in their first weeks of Heroclix.
