Yes she was brought back as a ten year old but she didn't die, or so I thought. I was in the single digit age range when it happened. The character of storm is easily cutable only because they didn't do her right. A storm done well would rock the entire boat.
interesting comments you made. Though I think the ol' white folks of the Academy aren't prejudice enough to wait for a degrading role for blacks to award them. I just think that, even though there have been better black performers in the past, the changin political climate has made it "unfair" for minorities to not win something.
Kidman should have won Berry's, and Zellweger should have won Kidman's. (singing, dancing, AND acting is always harder than just acting, IMO).
But I don't think they should do away with Storm. I think they should use her properly. We'll see if X2 gets it right.
Long live Veteran Rogue!!! Huzzah!
That's my opinion. You can get over yourself or you can live your whole life being wrong.
I don't care about singing or dancing, it's all about the acting. It all depends on how good the acting was, besides the right people rarely get the oscars.
Halle Berry deserved her Oscar bosed on who was nomiinated in their particular roles. However, Nicole Kidman should have been nominated for "The Others" instead of "MOulin Rouge." If that would have happened Kidman would have won. But Naomi Watts wasn't even nominated for "Mulholland Dr." and was the favorite to win before nominations came out. I'm not defending Halle Berry's performance in X1, that was trash, but she did deserve her Oscar over the other nominees. To make everyone feel better, any of the X2 reviews at aintitcoolnews say that Berry's performance is good in the movie.
Nothing says 'obey me' like a bloody head on a fence post.-Stewie
seen it twice and it rocks people.
Its fairly great since its very character driven (no time is wasted introducing the main characters), lots of cameos from known mutants in the school (agesd altered thou, but still cool).
I read in Empire magazine(UK) Ian Mc Kellan saying magnetos part isnt as big as in X1, boy was he yanking my chain!, magneto rocks!.
Now, Nightcrawler is astoundingly well done, the first sequence is mind blowing, you really have to see it atleast twice to really grasp it all.
I'm not following the Storm and Mrs. berry's oscar debate, but i'll tell you this, none of the female oscar winners (Berry and Paquin) do oscar material, they do their job, but theydotn excell in it. (regarding Mrs. Berry's oscar, she just happened to be the right color at the right time, its far more rascist to just go out and give charity than to truly recognize work, all those oscars, INCLUDING poitiers, were pity oscars).
getting long, so i'll cut before i spoil anything.
well, i read the rant part, and i have to say i agreee wiht panther in most respects (angela basset would rock as storm, specially with the white mohawk!).
but playing devils advocate, the prt of storm is very difficult to portray in such a short lenght of movie.
look at it this way, she's the only member of the x-men who does not have a real connection to another character, or any background shown. so all the charcter is buit upon, is the few crummy lines that where given to her. (read above folks, i'm no fan of mrs. berry's acting).
Well guys I'm seening the movie Sunday afternoon. I'm signing off this thread until then in case someone accidently releases some spoilers. You'll have to make do without my wit and reparte.
And my spelling.
BAH!
We're not here to have fun. We're here to make pretend our little plastic dolls are violently killing our opponent's little plastic dolls.
"As for her role as catwoman I will say that she resembles the current selina kyle as drawn in her own series. However being a race-concious individual I will say that catwoman started off as a peurto-rican woman, and too my knowledge still is so."
WHAT? No. Catwoman was created in the 40's. She was white, not hispanic.
