Doc Ock is a vile, evil, detestable homicidal megalomaniac. To put him in Peter Parker's shoes is tantamount to dressing up Charles Manson in a Jesus robe and celebrating Christmas on his birthday.
Holy cow! Not only is Doc Ock essentially raping Mary Jane, how does he reconcile back his feelings toward May Parker-Jameson? They nearly got married in the 70s.
Good lord - this is so freaking sick it just gets sicker and sicker by the moment.
May all your hits be crits!

The raping thing keeps being brought up, but I really doubt Potto and MJ are having sex. If anything, I think Potto is going to blow it with her completely. And the Aunt May stuff should make for some excellent character interactions with Jameson Sr.
And Otto doesn't just get the shoes. He gets the blood and guilt and shame and righteousness that all go with them. And for Otto, it's all about ego, not villainy. He just wants to prove that he IS superior once and for all and it's such an old story that there are Greek myths about it. He's going to get burned by the sun. It's just a matter of how high he forces himself to go.
I keep searching, but thus far CTRL-F "blasphemy" is showing no matches for this chapter in the life of our beloved wall-crawler. On the other hand, hyperbole in this thread is getting TONS of matches.

But I guess I'm in the minority in wanting to see how Peter Parker wins out, and in the meantime what happens when Norman Osborne makes his next move.
You're not alone. I have some reservations but I'm also interested in seeing how Slott handles Superior Spider-Man.
Your mention of Osborn is intriguing. I'm curious to see Spidey-Otto handle some of the villains who he's partnered up with in the past.
Heh. After reading ASM 700, I had the outrageous thought that it would be interesting to have Peter return in Otto's mind as an adviser (conscience?) of sorts. But Firestorm's already done that, though, with Ronnie and Professor Stein.

I dig this response.
Seriously folks, this is gonna be about as temporary as it gets, IMO. All I can say is that...well...at least you don't have Loeb writing your favorite book.
Yep, that there's Wendi-Hulk. Boy howdy.
Anyhow, y'all should read Indestructible Hulk until this blows over. It's fun!

And it's not the first time that's happened under Whacker, either-- see Kaine and Scarlet Spider.

Have you read "Dying Wish" or the Superior preview yet? Yeah, Ock could blow it with MJ, but she seems more taken with him now than with the real Parker. The preview has Ock running away from villains; so much for "the shame."

I don't know what to tell you. I avoid spoilers and did finish Dying Wish and read Avenging yesterday. I am enjoying the story. I like Slott's writing.
But no one knows what is coming and how it's going to play out. The big thing JUST happened. It's about as low as things can get for Pete, so I expect a pretty awesome triumph when he returns.
As for what happens with Potto in the meantime... it has my attention and will get my dollars. I understand that isn't the case for many of you.
In a related example, I avoided One More Day because it looked like a terrible story. Brand New Day and subsequently Big Time and such have all been a good time for me as a reader. This is the next chapter and I'm still engaged.

Can we lay off the rape stuff yo? There has been no rape nore will there be any rape in a spiderman book and they sure wouldn't let the character spiderman rape anyone. Rape isn't a word to just throw around. If you knew anyone who'd actually been raped, you'd be using a different word.

Have you been reading the new Scarlet Spider series? Or even the more recent books with Kaine in them before he was cured and became Scalet? the character development was quite good and as a huge Reilly fan I'm very happy to see how this series has gone (though I still wish there was some whacky way they could bring Ben back).

1. Are you joking? Just after #600 Chameleon raped Parker's roommate while impersonating him; this is Whacker and Slott doubling down.
2. Why the hell would I want to? Parker treating the resurrected Kaine like a friend rather than a psychopathic killer during Spider Island is where Slott started to lose me. Plus it's written by half of Kyle and Yost, MIT exactly a writing team known for a small body count.

Y'know, if I wanted to read "The Amazing Doctor Octopus" I would have picked that up every month instead. Oh, wait...that's right...they never made such a book because nobody ####ing wants it!
