Keep in mind that they have more uses than as a relic. Often times I would gladly pay a few points to have a guaranteed square of undestroyable hindering terrain on the map.
What does that even mean? Are you saying that a guaranteed square of hindering terrain on a map is a bad thing? Or more importantly, a guaranteed square of hindering terrain that you can place exactly where you want?

Interesting idea.
Cheapest Relic is 3 points - Smoke Pellets.
8 relics so far made or previewed cost 10 or more points. Considering for those same 10 points or less I can attach a Utility Belt, those relics are a waste.
By doing something to make them more accessible in game, especially since most are far less powerful than the UB, it would put value and choices into those relics.
Kinda like those stupid mirror maps which totally shaft player 2 - WK has to think a bit more about their game.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

That is a complete matter of opinion. Some venues' events won't allow Resources. Maybe some venues are over run with DC10 Catwoman. Or, heaven forbid, some people may just not want to play with the Utility Belt.
Options are good.

Reason: I misspoke.

(Assuming you meant Resource not Relic,) I completely agree.

Considering you place it, I think that it's much more likely to serve your purpose as terrain than an opponent is likely to pick it up. All you have to do it get to it.

Yep, that's what I meant. (trying to do 3 things at once here)

What he said. I've played Mjolnir with the Frog of Thunder many times. And there were plenty of times that I chose not to roll for it, just because I needed that hindering terrain.

Yes, I know its a matter of opinion - just like there are people who repeatedly say the PAC is fine the way it is. WK disagrees with them, I've recently discovered.

FYI - That's a matter of opinion, too.
I agree with your opinion that options are good. Good options are even better.
I have most of the relics. I don't use them because I don't make the rolls. Using a relic removes an object from my arsenal and costs me points without providing a benefit.
The problem I have with relics, for me, is the combination of 0-emotional attachment with rarity of getting to use it. I will gladly play a figure that rates a 1 star if I like something about it because I get to use the figure. Not so for the relics.
There is a player at my venue who makes the relic rolls / Special Object rolls constantly. He uses Mjolnir (not technically a relic, I know) most of the time because it is 0 points.
If I had that luck then it might be worth throwing the 15 points away for an Iron Man Armor or Eye of Agamatto, but as it is I'd rather spend those points on a Hydra Soldier, another Illusion Mysterio, Astral Strange, or Flock of Bats to name some options.

Fair points.
I personally like relics. But I usually only play the 8 point-or-less options. I'll agree with you that that the higher cost relics aren't as attractive. The cheaper ones are easier to throw on a team when I am going to be under built anyway.
I've never been a big fan of feat cards, and don't have the option to play them most times anyway. But for some reason relics work for me. They are cheap point fillers that sometime pay off. And for me, that makes them fun. When I'm just playing for fun, which is most of the time, I'll gladly throw a yellow lantern, crimson gem or scorpio key onto my team, just for the chance to make my team that little bit better.
While it is good to know the names of upcoming sets, and general themes, I think it is hard for any consumer to plan accurately without knowing what is in the product. When the consumer doesn't know, they cannot communicate to the retailer. Part of that too is with the movie releases having figures at the mass market level. There becomes an influx of product under a certain banner and people do not know where to focus their attention if they do not plan to acquire the entire range of the release because they do not know what is where.
I'm going to use Teen Titans as an example. When I first heard about Teen Titans, my excitement was mild. I'm not really a big DC fan, and Teen Titans is not one of the DC properties I am big on. As I saw previews, my interest has gone down. I have not seen very much I really want. However, now when the set releases there might be figures I was unaware of that I do want, which will cause me to desire more product. This then puts a strain on the local retailer to get more product. I think we all know that it only takes a few weeks for product to be unavailable for order. If I had a better idea ahead of time of what was in the set, I could have made an effort to secure product through my venue at an earlier date.
So I think it is good to get set information out early, but so far, it is mostly lacking to the point where making significant financial decisions based on the information is impossible unless the general property is something you feel strong on already.
1. They are going to be phasing out the current OP kits for sets and setting up basically a Marquee kit. I personally don't like that, but if they do add extra prize stuff to Storyline events for weekly events, then it should be fine.

I hope phasing them out goes out of the mix. Doing away with non-storyline OP kits is going to hurt more than it helps.
Some I've seen suggested and am hoping get made in to changes
Mind Control only damages if target costs more than attacker
Smoke Cloud as a free action in some form
HSS, L/C and Phasing not "Automatic" breakaways but have a +3 to breakaway rolls (so Plasticity, Giant and such still have a chance to tie them down)

This right here is one of the biggest culprits for adding to the 'range game' because it interacts with Running Shot and had no counters except for Barrier and The Hand or LoA ATA's. Eliminate that possibility, and Pulse Wave still remains threatening as it cuts through *everything*, but it's mobility is hindered somewhat.
Based on the interview, and the fact that they are aware of the beastly range game I will be severely disappointed if they don't identify exactly what I just pointed out and change it accordingly.

It's like a movie theater. New movies come out every Friday, but you can't expect to go see every movie ever released, on release day, unless you devote an extraordinary amount of time and money to do so.
Re: The ranged game - More maps with varied terrain can make a difference as well.
Re: PAC change. Have you ever seen an olympic archer fire a bow while treading water? Please update water terrain or the swim ability!

Barrier needs some way to move a few spaces and then Barrier. Iceman does that all the time.
Incap will be an exciting change. I'm expecting some minus to combat values to show stunning. Will make it a much more worthwhile power.
Mind Control needs a tweak or two. Unless you are a borken character like Brother Voodoo, its not nearly as effective as it should be. Tweak to LoF at a reduced / default range would be great.
Plasticity will be the biggie. Its gotta have some way to slow / stop L/C and HSS. I expect WK to adopt the oft-suggested 'require a normal breakaway roll'. It would be crazy awesome if it had a defensive ability, too - meaning something that shows that sticky, concussive-resistant ability plasticity characters demonstrate.
Hoping for some tweaks to Plasticity as well. Agree with the need to remove "auto-breakaway" from L/C and HSS.
Don't want to see Plasticity become *too* tied to the "super-stretchy" characters, though.
One great thing about the PAC versus SP's or Traits, is that they are more "basic", broadly applicable.
I like seeing Plasticity for characters from Mr. Fantastic and Plastic Man )"super-stretchy" shape-changers) to Anaconda or The Thing (super-strong wrestler/grapplers) to Trapster or Doc Ock (use of devices to entangle) or or ye olde Dark Knight Detective and various Street Fighter types (martial artists).
Guess I object to calls for some Plasticity-based defenseive tweak, more focused on movement, like ignoring hindering terrain, or at least not suffering the halved movement when leaving it, as a way of showing "nimbleness" or something.
...Think WizKids might consider more "Improved" abilities? "Improved Defense" sounds like a good category.
EDIT: And as far as Smoke Cloud goes, liking some of the ideas in this thread. I still think some sort of "alternate use" or "option 2" for it involving reviving the "Web token" kind of mechanics would be cool.
