I've noticed on the draGGon events page that the sealed event will consist of a draft. How will the draft work specifically?
Than0seid threw this one over to me as it was my idea for the format and I'll be running/judging it.
5 rounds in total
First two rounds will qualify for placement into the top eight.
the last three rounds will be based on where you place in the first two, so either -
You get in the top eight and play off for first prize (and other prizes)
or
all other players play a separate game for third prize (and other prizes)
Included in the ticket price for the sealed game are two boosters - as of writing we have Batman, Teen Titans and Spider-man available. If Wolverine becomes available (whether it is legal for the constructed or not) we will have that too.
These two boosters are the player's sealed characters (there should be ten)
After the boosters are cracked and recorded all players will be seated in groups of four or five. Packets of artificial/pseudo boosters will be handed around to each player and the players will draft these boosters amongst their group. There will be three waves of drafting.
These figures will be the player's drafted characters (there should be fifteen).
Round one and two
- 400pt Golden Age constructed to be made from both the sealed and drafted figures (a choice of 25 heroclix characters).
Round three, four and five
- 300pt Modern Age constructed to be made from only the sealed figures (a choice of 10 heroclix characters).
since wolverine and the x-men set is delayed until the 21st of august is it allowed to be used for nationals?
"1.2.7 Legality of Game Elements: HeroClix game elements are legal in all formats on the official release day of each HeroClix set. Game elements with the set symbol of an upcoming set that are obtained by any means (including Prereleases, mailings, and other promotions), are not legal in any constructed format until the official release day.
1.2.7.1 WizKids Sponsored Tournaments: HeroClix game elements are not legal in a Constructed Event until one (1) week after the release date."
Going by that I'm under the impression WatX will be good for the nationals. I'm not sure 1.2.7.1 applies since the nationals aren't Wizkids sponsored.
Sorry for the delay in replying, wanted to discuss with M.O.D.O.C. and Good Games OP about this.
Any stock that is available through Good Games stores 2 weeks or more before the date of the constructed event (ie in store by Sunday 11th August) is valid for use in the Constructed event on Sunday the 25th of August.
If stock comes in after that it may still be used for the sealed event on Saturday the 24th of August.
I hope this answers your question.
Cheers,
Just wondering if it possible to get a confirmation on Monday 12th (or whenever possible) on a definitive list of sets that are (or are not) valid?
Cheers.
Man, i love duct tape. I love how it tapes. I love the sound that it makes. I love saying it.

That's been addressed. I asked about the same sets over on the Facebook page and they'll be fine for the event (that I'm assuming includes the Ravagers Fast Forces pack as well).

As long as, if you win, you're willing to come back next year and defend your title/s then I see no problem.
Even if you're not willing to do it I still see no problem. The more the merrier!

Cheers,
Sounds awesome. I could always use an excuse to get back down to Australia next year. Not that I promise to win. I do promise to be an actively engaged player with crappy dice rolls, though
Just a heads up that I have updated the information in post 2 of this thread. Please have a read and respond from that if you feel it is unclear, or you have further questions.
Also, as a reminder, the final Sydney regional qualifier is on Monday 19th of August at Good Games Town Hall.
And please remember to follow this link and register for DraGGon if you haven't already.
I'm looking forward to seeing people for the constructed on the Sunday.
