<shrug> If Disney does get an inhouse company for this market, there is nothing to do. This would be the third (with the LCG being my 4th) Star Wars "collectible" game in, wow, nearly 20 years. The license comes and goes. And really, half the time it was due to the licensor wanting a different company. Honestly, the people on this site should be far, far more worried about such news. Ask Dark Horse how well Disney is interested in keeping long standing partnerships...
And something to keep in mind, Fantasy Flight has earned a lot of respect from people. They aren't a perfect company, but they have moved to a model that appeals very much to those that have been burnt out by the random model.
You will not, as many times in the past, will say that you are not right. You will not compitulate or give even an inch because you have decided what the truth is and no one can tell you otherwise,
"You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!"
Tell you what... if XW is dead by the end of the year, I'll admit I was wrong. Good enough? But until there is some evidence that it's done for, all you have is speculation. I'm not willing to assume the worst just because you say I should.
And people say I'm negative.

Completely different animal though, as Disney now owns a comic company (Marvel) that can make Star Wars comics for them. But until Disney buys WotC or something, they don't have a game company (that I'm aware of).
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
Yes and no. True, that some games do die off and it is due, in a large part, to delays. HorrorClix and Monsterpocalypse are prime examples (although, with regard to the latter, it looks like that was already doomed before the last wave was even completed).
But Star Wars is a different animal altogether. It's fan base is HUGE and isn't based on some made-up or knock-off IP. Star Wars merchandise has been around and selling strong since I was 8 years old. I don't think a 2 month delay is going to kill off the game or cause Disney to revoke the IP.
I know quite a few people who have given up X-wing because of the production issues. Quite a few of them have jumped ship and joined our Attack Wing group. The two venues I used to play X-Wing at had a huge turn out for all their events, tournaments and casual play alike. Now they have people begging others to come out and play a game and no longer have tournaments. The X-Wing scene went from about 20 people weekly to dead since Attack Wing came out. Sure it could just be a random occurrence in those two stores. The two biggest reasons I hear from ex X-wing players is delay issues/inability to get product, and that Attack Wing is a better game. A few also say its because of the OP support for Attack Wing. Take it for what its worth.

Yesterday I went to my clix tourney. As I'm walking out of the room in the back (where we play) between rounds, I see a couple of guys looking over XW, AW, and Wings of War/Glory as they are all in the same area. One guy had the Slave I in his hand and was looking over the box. As I'm walking by I said "that's a great game". That led into a conversation about the games and me showing them my XW stuff (I tend to take it with me in case anyone wants to get in a game... I'm getting tired of just playing clix). They finally ended up buying the XW core set. At the end of the day, as I was leaving, the owner told me that they came back in and bought two other ships.
Now, before anyone says I trashed talked the other two all I said was that I didn't really know much about Wings of Glory and that the biggest difference between XW and AW as that in AW pilots and ships can be mixed and matched. They weren't showing ANY interest at all in AW however... they were going to buy either XW or WoG.
So, there you go. Based on sell outs of waves and the fact that new people are buying the game, it's doing just fine. (My anecdotal evidence vs yours.)
Now why do I feel the bolded part is total BS? You tried Attack Wing one time and come on the forums and ranted about how absolutely awful the product was for about a week. And lets be honest, you are in no way capable of being unbiased and impartial when comparing the two games.
Ok without saying too much that will in fact get me in trouble if it does come back to me Disney is in fact looking at possibly adding a game company to the portfolio. I do know that talks are going on with one particular company and if they do add it to what they own it will be in fact HUGE. In case you happen to live in the RI area and know a place that sells potatoes or put up statues of potatoes then this company could be a good place to invest.
And on that I will say no more.
I'll not mention said company, although anyone with Google can find it in about the time it takes to crack open a can of soda. That rumor has been floating around since two weeks after Disney purchased Star Wars. Funny thing is the game division isn't even why they were interested in it.
But should this happen, Wizkids should be worried as much as FFG. After all, that Marvel license won't be cheap next time it comes up for renewal, especially if they feel they could do a better collectible mini superhero game.
All this "Xwing is doomed" talk could be replaced with "Heroclix is dead" talk. Or "Attack wing is dead". Around here, I'm not seeing either game dying off anytime soon.

I get the x-wing and heroclix fear since we are talking about disney wanting to buy a gaming company (which would not be very fun for any invovled, they are both great games with a superb game piece base, and starting from scratch would be awful)
but isn't star trek owned by paramount? I would be far more concerned with FFG taking away the flight path license, before paramount removing the trek license.
The universe is governed by a tendency toward disorder, we refer to the quantification of that tendency as Entropy Boston Heroclix
I understand waiting for the reprints being an issue for people. The first three waves are essentially the core of the game, and obviously will be popular for quite some time. As they've said, they doubled what they thought the market could handle, and was really, really short. I'm just glad that I decided to get in after the second wave of product came in about a year ago. And while the Wave 2 shortage last year was a bit annoying, it didn't bother me to slowly build my collection of A-wings and Interceptors.
In the end, both games appear to be doing well. Wizkids does what it does, and FFG does what it does.

Where are you playing Xwing at because I can't find but one place that does!
SWXW is still going strong in my area in the sense that I could find someone to play with on any given weekend. The people that play are eagerly awaiting the new product in the pipeline and willing to spend their hard earned cash on that product. That being said they have grown weary of past shortages and current delays. FFG's failures in this aspect have not been good for the game.
In regards to the OP scene, that is almost dead. I'm speaking locally only. I have no idea what it's like elsewhere. Interest seemed to peak with the Kessel Run Event and has been waning ever since. I don't know if this is due to the product shortages or crappy OP kits with lackluster prize support (not my choice of words, came from a local player who prefers SWXW to STAW, but likes the STAW OP program better), I would guess it is likely a combination of both. Since the release of STAW there have been 12 STAW OP events locally and only 1 SWXW, with a second planned later this month. The local stores aren't interested in getting SWXW OP kits unless a group of players gets together and sets up a date with the store.
I don't think SWXW the game is in much trouble yet with the loyal player base, but the supply issues and delays certainly seems to have had a negative effect on growing the game.

Yep, this.
I find it humorous that people are fretting about the state of the game... yet every wave of new product sells out and has people yelling for reprints. And even those reprints move well when they eventually hit the shelves (our store currently has no core sets, TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, Lamda Shuttles, or B-Wings). Has anything in AW sold out (serious question, as I have no idea)?
I think a lot of people enjoy the game at home. There's limited incentive to go to a tourney, but that doesn't mean people don't play it. AW gets players in stores because of A) exclusive limited ships and B) the value that those create. XW doesn't have that... and seems to be moving along just fine without it.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see things get shaken up a bit once the Transport and Tantive hit the market. They bring a couple of new game types along with them and people will be wanting to give those a whirl.

you can find all the ships from Wave 3 in any gaming store around here.

Not really sure what you mean by this, but is it really being honest if your opinion is so skewed that its essentially an unreasonable assessment of the game?
One of the main reasons you see X-wing selling out so fast is because you need multiples of every ship to build a good fleet. You don't need the same in AW, hence why there is more of each ship available, and why there are going to be more expansions in AW than in XW.
There isn't a need for as many expansions in XW, but there is a need to purchase multiples of the same ship, because they are essentially generics.
I know you can purchase multiples in AW for some of the generics, but it isn't as much of a need as it is in XW.
I'm just stating this because even though I think AW and XW have a lot of similarities, comparing the way expansions are released, and how many of them there are, and availability of them in stores I think is an apples to oranges comparison. They are very different in those respects because in one game you really need multiples of each expansion, in the others you pretty much do not.
I don't think you can argue the health of either game based on the availability in stores. I think you will generally see XW sell out because I am going to need to buy several of each expansion to run the type of fleet needed in XW. Yes there are exceptions, but mostly I need multiples. In AW I do not.
Both are fine, and make sense to me. I also am not sure why the health of either game is being discussed. IMO, they both seem to be doing great.
I do know that in my area I am seeing the same thing as most - lots of interest in tourneys for AW, zero interest in XW. However, XW has sold really well, so obviously people are buying the game - and most likely playing at home.
Using the same examples for expansions between the two, I would say tourney participation for either game shouldn't be used to try and figure out health of the game. I believe they are both very different in that aspect as well.
In my area only one of the two gaming stores sells AW and neither of them have tourneys or a player base. However both sell XW and both have weekly game sessions for XW. Not saying anything about the state of either game, just throwing in my observation.
Has anything in AW sold out (serious question, as I have no idea)?
I think that four local stores sell it. I only know about the two that hold OP events and not a lot of details about them.
One of them buys enough product that they can run 2 OP events a month. They have had to restock the starter set at least twice, the Valdore at least once, and others at least once that I can't name because they weren't ships I needed.
The other I know about only buys enough product to run 1 OP event a month. I have no idea how many times they have had to restock but they currently only have one starter on the shelf, and 1-3 of 7 expansions on the shelf. That means they are currently sold out of 9 expansions.
