And "Turn: Washington's Spies"? Never heard of it. Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon?
Seasons 1 and 2 of "Turn" are currently on Netflix. Season 3 is airing on AMC. Currently it's on episode 6, with the rest of S3 available on demand.
It's a very interesting show based on historical fact. During the Revolutionary War, a guy called Ben Tallmadge (officer in Washington's Continental Army) formed a small spy ring that operated out of Setauket, NY. I am really enjoying the period piece/costumes, excellent script writing, and good casting.
It's also fun to see actors portraying George Washington, Benedict Arnold, and the rest of the prominent figures of the time. The best part is that the story is told from the POV of the members of the spy ring (the Culper ring) and it gives a "behind the scenes" look at the war and politics of the Colonial US. Plus, they make the occupying British troops into truly despicable, "love-to-hate" bad guys.
I would highly recommend this show to anyone, particularly if you're a history fan. (Notable cast members include Jamie Bell, Burn Gorman, Stephen Root, and Kevin McNally.)

Sigh, another show that goes on my list of stuff I need to watch. I really do enjoy historical fiction/dramatization. If you like this, "John Adams" is worth a watch if you haven't done so. Older mini-series from HBO starring Paul Giamatti.
That sounds like a very solid cast and an excellent premise for the show. I also intend to give "Hell on Wheels" a chance from the same network. Now I guess I have my pick of American wars to choose from. This is assuming I can pry my wife away from Hart of Dixie. I enjoy the show to be sure but she's making me stay up past my bedtime to watch an extra episode it seems like every night. Not to mention season 3 of Orphan Black that I need to watch. And here I thought giving up all live TV shows and going strictly the binge route would give me free time.

That sounds very cool. I never watched that HBO series and it fits nicely into my current Revolutionary War kick. Thanks, dude!

I watched "Hell on Wheels" S1 and 2. It was a fantastic show, and now it too is on Netflix. Couldn't keep up with it before due to my schedule. Guess I'll be able to make time over the summer to catch up on HoW as well. Verily, TV streaming services are both the blessing and the bane of the modern age potato couch.

It is excellent. To be fair, it can drag out in parts, but the cast makes up for it beautifully. Aside from Giamatti, Stephen Dillane, Laura Linney, David Morse, Tom Wilkinson, and Rufus Sewell star. And having just listed those names, I'm suddenly wanting to rewatch some other things; notably "The Patriot" and "The Illusionist". The former would fit with your historical kick as well.
As for being a couch potato, it's not all bad. If you can multi-task, cross-stitching is a relaxing hobby to do while watching a show. Plus you feel like you're not totally wasting your time. Only 80% wasting your time, give or take 10% there.
My wife has made noise about cutting cable and just going Netflix/Hulu Plus. Which is great, except A) sports, B) The Americans, and C) sports. Not sure how this is going to go...

What sports networks do you watch now with cable? Sling TV is $20/month and has TNT, ESPN, ESPN2, and TBS. If you have a relative who has cable and doesn't do streaming, you could use their cable subscription to use the streaming aps on a Roku. I do that with my dad's stuff so that I can watch European soccer matches. He does come over quite regularly to watch due to my larger TV and superior beer selection.

I am about ready to ditch cable. As a Verizon subscriber I get NFL mobile for free and add an MLB and nhl package if I want on my ps3.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that. I do enjoy my Fox Sports regional networks, as well as all the European soccer channels (NBC sports, bein, etc) but I'm not sure they're worth paying for.

My dealbreaker came when Fox Sports lost the Premier League contract. NBC Sports would have cost about $30 more per month. We ditched cable and I've mentioned my recent forays into streaming. I got the idea from a friend who would have his mom order HBO just so he'd have a login to watch Game of Thrones. Anyhow, have you looked into the standalone ap market. I have no idea if NBC, BEIN, or Fox offer such things. I know Fox in particular has been a stubborn holdout.

You and gfish should start a support group. And you get to go to Fiji. I know it's work, but still.

I have cut back on cable as much as possible in order to save money. I miss the sports/baseball channels and BBC America. Guess that I keep holding on mostly due to AMC and HBO (Game of Thrones, naturally). However, I also have Netflix and Hulu Plus so the day is not far off when I will have to cut the cable. Being broke is not as fun as they make it look on TV sitcoms.

Ain't that the truth.
I have often been annoyed by the fact that people depicted on TV shows don't ever struggle with money unless it is a very large issue (typically mould in their house).
