I don't know about this. I liked watching wrestling back in the 80's and 90's (Attitude Era and ECW was phenomenal).
I would rather see figures based off of Manga/Anime properties (I never watched Yu-Gi-Oh, that's why I didn't have any interest in those Heroclix sets, would of rather liked to see "Naruto", "Bleach", "Dragonball" or "Mobile Suit Gundam" Clix made instead) than of wrestlers.
This WWE set will be as lame as Hulk Hogan's "Atomic Leg Drop" finisher.
Yup. I was a Judge at the time and I had trouble giving them away. Had another Judge send me a set of them as a "bonus" in a Realms trade. So I guess I wasn't the only one having that problem. I did use the demo kit and tried to get people interested in it, but a miniatures game without a collectability aspect has to either be an amazing playing experience, or it will flop.

Kudos to Wizkids for thinking outside the box on this one. Obscure sets like this make collecting fun rather than the perpetual avalanche of Thors and Batmans.
The amount of whinging in this thread is ridiculous. If you're not into wrestling, that's fine. But understand a couple things:
1. This set is not for you. WWE Heroclix would be for the notable overlap between wrestling fans and HeroClix players. OR bringing in wrestling fans who have never played the game before and potentially growing the Clix playing community. If you're not in one of those camps, then you don't have to buy these.
2. Not only do you not have to buy them, you also don't have to play them! It doesn't matter if you feel the powers or abilities won't make sense in comparison to them on comic characters or not. If for some reason you do own any of these figures, you are under no obligation to use them.
(2a. Now some of you may be tempted to respond to this with something like, "Hey, my local venue is having a tournament with a coveted prize that requires WWE HeroClix in a sealed or constructed format! That's clearly forcing me to buy/play these!" to which the response would be: No it isn't. Feel free to stay home while the people this sort of set is geared towards can have their fun.)
3. The announcement of this partnership has nothing to do with the lack of a set based off another property. Yes, we get that there are certain TV shows/movies/cartoons/anime/other comic properties you want to see made into HeroClix. Those could still happen. This isn't an either/or sort of thing.
As it stands, if you're not interested in WWE Heroclix, you should be completely unaffected by this announcement. The only thing that should be a given is that if you happen to sit down across from a player who is running WWE Clix, you should be as polite to them as you would any other player.
I hear you. But the big issue is that WWE makes no sense in the heroclix system. Wrestlers with super hero traits? At least the other IPs made some sense, but this is total garbage given the context.
Because Starships with Super Hero Traits wasn't weird.
I play Heroclix, Pathfinder, and retro video games on Twitch!

What you are failing to acknowledge is that 95% They player base that keeps their lights on hates this idea or is fairly apathetic to it. Therefore, this release will be seen as a flop regardless of how much fun nostalgia comes from it. There will not be enough new players to make the set sell or sell out.
I hate wrestling at it core because there's more talk than action nowadays and some of the stuff is so outlandish it actually becomes just stupid. Do I want an Ultimate Warrior, Big Boss Man, Jimmy Superfly Snuka, Stone Cold and Macho Man? Yeah sure..but will I play them? Not often and not likely.
Looking that today's fans of the WWE and today's minis gamers I fail to see a much overlap. The only way this will bring new players to the game is IF WWE markets and promotes it because Wizkids couldnt promote their company if their lives depended on it. Otherwise, this is just a bad idea and squandered time, energy, and resources into a lackluster release.
Players have asked and suggested many properties to Wizkids and they finally listened with TMNT but not much else. Anything in the 80s genre of Transformers (kinda popular since 84), MOTU, Thundercats, GiJoe, hell, even Ben10 would have more of a flavor profile in its figures than WWE. Translating video game characters and mechanics into a table top game is much more intuitive from one player base to another too and there are a bazillion games out there like MK, SF, Overwatch, etc that wouldve been better choices to invest in.

That your opening reply is with a made up number that isn't actually representative of the reaction is not a great start to things.

I'll repeat this since you didn't pay attention: You don't have to play them at all. If you are buying figures that you don't intend to use, that is on you! The bigger problem is that you cannot fathom that others might not be quite like yourself. You hate wrestling, which is totally okay, but there's an adage you should probably heed from this point on: "Don't yuk on other people's yum-yum."

That failure is pretty much your problem and no one else's. That you're stating this isn't going to work because you don't happen to know any Clix players that are wrestling fans is arguing from a place of ignorance. There's already enough people excited enough in the thread here and the Upcoming Sets section to make a healthy list of existing people.

Yes. And that you're basically looking for an excuse to rattle off a bunch of names of properties is pretty much the only reason you replied. Again, the making of WWE Clix has no effect on any other properties chances of being adapted. That people are salty because Wizkids and the WWE worked out a deal *before* any other company is not really the problem.
As I said before, I just want these to be fully compatible with existing Clix. Give the powers different names if you must, WizKids, but don't change how the powers work.
I don't particularly care about WWE and have no strong feelings about whether this should have been done, but there seem to be some points (on both sides of the debate) that are being missed.
1. Those of you who are saying "if you don't like WWE, just don't buy them" are ignoring that there is an opportunity cost with every choice that WizKids makes. It's not like they are likely to pump out the same number of sets in addition to one (or more) WWE sets. Which means that these set(s) are likely to take the place of other sets that may have come out that people would be more interested in (if they're not WWE fans).
2. It does make it less likely that WK will branch out into new licensing arenas in the near future. It's not like they have limitless resources to actively negotiate licensing deals with everyone (and then produce enough content to make those deals profitable). And, once they've nailed down this license, they're less likely to branch out into new ones, considering that they're going to be coming out with another Star Trek set soon. They're not going to completely ignore their bread-and-butter in the form of Marvel/DC, so any sets that come out which don't fit into one of those categories are likely taking away from another set.
3. For those of you who are saying "I'd much rather have XYZ instead of WWE", there's no guarantee that they would have picked your favorite. I know this kind of goes against what I said in point 2, but it's clear that WK took advantage of this opportunity. Just because they took advantage of AN opportunity, doesn't necessarily mean that they could have taken advantage of ANY opportunity. I know almost nothing about licensing deals, but I assume that there's an inherent level of complexity that makes them difficult to bring to fruition. Additionally, for a deal to be completed, there has to be interest on both sides. Just because WK would really like to make a DBZ set doesn't mean that they can actually work out a deal that is amenable to Toei Animation (or whoever controls the rights).
Thanks Arsenalroy2k for making all the points I wanted to, and doing it better than I could have.

By "people" I assume you mean HeroClix fans. That is exactly the point. This product is made to appeal to people who do not currently play HeroClix. WizKids knows you want more super heroes, more cartoons, more of whatever Undead was. That's great. They will continue making those things. They will also make things for other fans in an attempt to bring in new business. The existing fan base has a finite amount of money to spend on product. They are purchasing the existing product. WizKids wants to increase the pool of available customers by making different product.

That is demonstrably false. Yu-Gi-Oh did not stop them from making TMNT. TMNT did not stop them from making Undead. Undead did not stop them from making Star Trek. Star Trek did not stop them from making WWE. Why, exactly, do you think WWE make them less likely to branch out into yet another licensing arena?
---edit---
I see what you mean about limiting what they do in the near future. Still, we have gotten multiple non-comics sets this year.
---end edit---
Just a note in general: As much as we fans like the game, we do not get to make decisions about its future. WizKids does not owe us another release of product we like. If they spend their time making WWE instead of Thundercats, we did not lose a Thundercats set. Nobody took it from us. It was never ours to lose.
I don't particularly care, but I'm certainly willing to punch some of these people on the map. Maybe pick up the odd one or two in the set who did other types of acting for movie crossover teams. (There's like a 0% chance for Andre the Giant though, right?)
