What kind of people are we to critize and hate something for what it is? Are we southerners?!(sorry) Are we no better then the KKK?!(sorry again) BLS has worked deligently to become the Envoy of the Beginning. A soldier who, dispite his physical strength, was deemed useless in his past. But inside of accepting his fate and dying a pitiful death left to all cards he trained! He trained and better himself! He could not sit idly by while his fellow soldiers fought. He could no longer bear seeing his close friends, Dark Magician, Dark Magician of Chaos, and Dark Magician Girl fight and fight while he did nothing!! He is a being that deserves to showcase his skills! All other monsters should be so lucky to achive the impossible that is the Beginning. Are we so shallow, so jealous that we would turn against some who only whats to help?!

Let duelist run their cookie cutters. This will only make it easier to play test counter measures. If 100 duelists run the same Deck, then we have 100 chances or truthfully 200-300 chances to challenge the Envoy of the Beginning. Fight with all you have instead of thinking of excuses as to why you lost. To be beaten by one card and not the deck or duelist?! There is no great disrepect to The Envoy of the Beginning then that.

More times than I can count, I have suffered at the hands of this foul monster! *Points to Black Luster Soldier*

Once upon a Time, I was happy when I opened my box of IOC-SE and saw him in my first pack. I was filled with joy that was indescribable. I showed him to everybody at the place I got my Packs, and everyone congratulated me. I put him in my Deck... I can tell you first hand with or without Painful Choice, he is still easy to bring out. I brought him out almost every game, and he ended almost every game in my favor and it felt good…for a time. After awhile I started feeling “Cheap” for using him… It got so bad I took apart my deck and Vowed never to use him again. Giving him up was hard… I tried other decks but…The decks my opponents used had him in there… There was no escaping him. I built Last Turn Decks to counter him…and it worked…but not all the time. I tried Bottomless Trap hole, Sakuretsu Armor, Mirror Force, Divine Wrath, Torrential Tribute, Solemn Judgment, Horn of Heaven, Royal Oppression…to no avail. He should not be around… He is a threat to all YuGiOh players and original decks everywhere! He is a Menace! I stand before you a Final Countdown Player, who has suffered repeatedly at his hands. He is BROKEN! HE DESERVES TO FRY! HE IS A THREAT TO EVERYONE! PLEASE!!! LISTEN TO ME!!! HEY LET GO!!!

perhaps instead of banning it, they should errata its text a bit, make his removal effect cost something, like a card discard or some life points...or maybe even needing to remove 2 light and dark instead of one each

but yes as he is now, its is pretty broken, he aint invincible, but hes close to it

Ah lily dude, thank you for appearing here in the court room today.

To bring up a few counter arguements, you talk about the hand advantage that Black luster being bad, when it isnt at all. BLS is a one for many card in itself, and is really hard to come back from. In all the times, at least over 100 by now, that I've had BLS played on me, this past tuesday resulted in.... count em, the EIGHTH time I've been attacked by it. Noone attacks me with it, why? I'll set one card face down, even a nobleman, and they refuse to attack.

BLS users covet their golden crutch with both hands. Its already been said that a user will not even summon it if theres the chance their finishing move could be conutered. Players are indeed smart enough to know when not to summon their BLS; when torrential is a possability, or worse, bottomless trap hole. It was the same with the one known as Yata Garasu, as if book of moon, or skill drain were an option for the opponent, they'd likely not summon it.

Like my slightly off the deep end friend Big Red was attempting to say, BLS is broken.

Oh, and I've heard this before, I've attempted to get a Black Luster Soldier for a month now to write this article, and he's sitting in my room in a "Holding Cell" (read: on my desk in a plastic baggie). The sentance WILL be carried out if he is found guilty, and at this point, unless all of the rest of realms casts a vote, I'm going to grab my lighter. I'll let the preceedings go on for another few days, and on Tuesday I'll let the vote be cast.


On a side note, I've seen a lot of people like jerry yang in my ordeal to get a luster soldier. People always would ask "Agent, if you are doing so much to hate luster, why would you trade to get one?" I finaly got one, paraded the accused around the tourniment in its proverbial hand cuffs, and took the prisoner into my case. People asked me what I was to do with it, and I told them I had every intention of using it in my next article, when they found out there was a chance of it being burned, they all said the same thing jerry did.

"No, dont burn it! Give it to me!!!"

The fact of the matter is, burning BLS will be a cleansing act for me, and afterwords, I wont have to wash my hands after I touch one. Its almost like the venom of a snake, which can be made as an anti-venom. The ashes of a B.L.ASH (say it out loud, you'll get it) will allow me to touch other BLS cards without acting like they have lepracy.

Bacon Lettuce Soldier - The Cheesy Way to Victory, :laugh: is no doubt powerful, and what makes him broken is that so many duelist burn him in ALL types of decks (Like him, being in a Machine deck and calling it Machines only...Pfft, yeah right.)

I believe Upperdeck should make the Deck Requirement a 60-card count (Like MTG), for allowing only forty was a mistake in the first place. Duels end quickly due to the "Duelist who got his cards quicker" play I always see, lowering it would weaken many decks to a decent level.

...I actually don't have a complaint against the Soldier himself, just those who abuse his power (which is typical for humans to crave power).

I personally think that we would never have had to have a ban list if certain cards were made better. Like
Harpie's Feather Duster - Should only be allowed to be played while a Harpie is on the field.
Raigeki - Only be played if a Thunder monster is on the field. (Same with Lightning)
Torrential Tribute - Only if Umi is on the field.
Yata-garasu - Only be used in spirit decks (Spirit decks are pretty much useless with out the bird)

If things like this were on the cards you would see many more competitive decks that are far from cookie cutter.

Anyway as for BLS if they truly wanted a chaos monster you should have to remove one monster of every attribute from play to summon him. He is the gingerbread man cookie cutter. Also why was he not a secret rare? He should have been IOC-000 (Since he is the beginning) and Emperor Dragon Envoy of the END should have been in the place of Invader of Darkness (Why is Invader even a secret rare? I don't think he should be more than a super rare.)

While we are at it lets ban Pot of Greed because in a way it is more broken than BLS. And how is it that either 1 or both of the players draw it in their first hand almost every game. This does not make sense to me with a 40 card deck that is 1 in 35 chance of pulling it the first hand but everyone almost always does.

it is not a 1 in 35 chance of pulling it in the first hand. I was pondering this over last night, since I have a midterm in stat today, but that's neither here nor there....

anyway, since you are drawing 5 cards, but your card pool is constantly dwindling, the chances look more like this:

First card: 1/40
2nd card: 1/39
3rd card: 1/38
4th card: 1/37
5th card: 1/36

Since all of those probabilities depend on you not drawing it beforehand (i.e., if you draw it for your first card, you can't draw it for your 2nd, etc.) You can add these all up....

Basically the odds of drawing pot of greed in the first hand are the sum of all those fractions, which is pretty darn close to 5/40, or 1/8. those are pretty good odds. when you have two players doing it, Pot of Greed should be drawn roughly 25% of the time in the opening hand.

lol, I already have my own BLS so I was kidding about the giving it to me part. But I still stand by my statement!! BLS may have the qualities of "brokeness" but he does not deserve such a cruel fate! Dispite the feelings of "cheapness" players may feel, Envoy is an amazing piece of tech in all decks. More then not all decks will have at least 1 light and one dark. It is a shame that others abuse the Soldier to no ends but there are just as many out there who honor his presense! Do not allow others to sway your emotions! Do not allow the negative thoughts of others to prevent you from using an amazing card! Why does no complain about TIV?! Why not Lightning Vortex?! Are they next to go?! Just because was deemed too strong for his own good does not allow to pass such cruel judgement on such a noble creature. He must be allowed to roam free! Freedom! Freedom!! FREEDOM!!! GOD! Why is it always the Good ones that go!!

The ones who should really be on trial, THE ONES WHO DESERVE TO BURN! Are all the cookie cutter duelist!! Those who abuse the Beginnings powers souly for their own gain! All of you should know it is the duelist not the deck that truely matters. You Vile duelist who duel with no honor! BURN I SAY BURN!!! You know who you are!! If you cookie cutter duelist truly love this soldier you will take his place for all the sins you have commented!! OH JESUS! Why must another suffer such a cruel fate?

If BLS is such an amazing piece of "tech", then run Chaos Sorc instead. ALMOST the same effect, and much better for metamorphisis. Really, they should just ban BLS and remake a new one. The text should read -

Stats are stupidely weak. Also, if you don't include the Envoy part of the name, it could be used as a Fusion Material.

I thought we were also complaining about TIV, just in a diffrent forum. It was the card most likely to be banned after BLS after all.

I'm suprised there was no duelist court for Rageki and Harpie's Feather Duster during the LON days. Were duelist called cheap skillless bastards for using those cards then?

I was only just starting then, and Typhoon barely knew of my existance. Heck, Nataku was just a regular duelist!

Its simply... as many people defend him with: Theres cards top stop him! -as said before: thats the smaller list. There are more cards run today to stop even those cards, and so on. Even mentioned above, BLS rarely attacks, its his second effect that is abused so much. If everyone liked his first effect, we would sacrifice 100 attack and use Tyrant Dragon. The second effect should have a cost, 1000 lps like seven tools, discarding a card like the new cards nowadays, lightning vortex, monster reincarnation, etc.
Verdict: Burn him to his bones.
