Well, Grant Morrison has since gotten a little pissy about the ownership of Zenith. Apparently he claims that he never signed any work-for-hire agreement and never cashed any check that Fleetway gave him to pay for his scripts, so that's all his. The lawyers are currently discussing the issue, but it's prevented, for example, the reissuing of Zenith in TPB form.
That's a shame, because a Zenith clik would go over well with the "superheroes-only" players, and Indy needs more flyers.
The bit in Zenith were he and Eddie open the door and Archie is standing there screaming ACEEEEEEEIID is one of the greatest cliffhangers in all of comics. I didn't even know who Archie was when I saw it and was desperate for the next issue. If I had grown up with that goofball character I probably would have been thrill-powered into unconsciousness.

You know, I was under the impression Robot Archie started in Valiant and merged with Lion in the 1950s and then ran for about 25 years after that, but I don't have any firsthand knowledge.
I do have some 1970s Lions and also some Vulcan from 1974, and the Lion strips appear to be new, but the Vulcan strips look like much older reprints.
That stack of Lions is one of my great comic finds. I got almost 40 issues from a dealer who knew there was very little chance he could resell them, but they were part of a collection he bought. He gave me the stack for $5.
Ghostie, does the Brit-Cit Judge have the funny little star on his chin? Armour did, but Brendan McCarthy was always a quirky artist. What the heck was that thing anyway, a tattoo?
I'm a collector. I like to collect complete sets of stuff that I get into. I'm just compulsive that way I guess. With Critical Mass just around the corner and me not knowing much at all about any of the IndyClix characters I was seriously debating whether to collect it or not. One thing that does pull me towards it is a complete lack of medics which I believe ruin the game. Now I find out that if I do decide to collect the set I've got to try to get 24 figures that aren't even going to be sold in the US. Needless to say this just gives me one more line in the negative column of my decision chart on IndyClix. I'm gonna buy a starter to get the rules/PAC/maps but other than that I'm just not sure yet. This split release thing definitely turns me off. If I could possibly get all of the figures I need by buying half a case or a case then I might do it but then to have to try to do overseas trading or eBaying after that to get my set .... eh.
Originally posted by RavenProject For those who are expressing deep opposition to this plan, is it based on the simple idea of having US vs UK figures, or is it baed on the exact figures used?
It's having distinct figs on different sides of the big pond. I'm a collector as much as a player. This just makes things more difficult for me (which I do not appreciate).

This whole US/Europe (really UK, since it appears France and Italy know less about 2000 AD than us in the USA) is just plain lame. A single 120 figure set would have been fine. Too many fans of both Crossgen/2000 AD are being SOL over this deal. Now it appears that Europe is not getting several Shi, Top Cow and Danger Girl figures also. That was not a good idea. I hope that it sells well despite this poor marketing decision. If not, WizKids may think that the set was a bad idea (which it wasn't, it was just poorly executed). Let us hope that WizKids can make it up to us if they do an Expansion. I still want Ape Sapien, Roger the Homuculus, Agent Liz Sherman, Silken Ghost, Gareth, Mordath, Agent Zero and the rest of Cyberforce. There are also many creators whose characters would make great Clix who are not part of this set. Bring us Savage Dragon (Super Patriot, Freak Force, et al), Grendel (Hunter Rose, Christine Spar and Prime) and Jim Lee's great Wildstorm universe (a whole expansion on its own with the likes of the Authority, WildC.A.T.s, Majestic, Blacklash, et al), then I'll gladly forgive WizKids for their poor judgment.

Originally posted by drgnof tyr why couldn't they just do 120 fig set and leave it at that why do this to the fans of the game wizkids will lose alot of money from us now cause instead of buying boosters we will be trading more to those who got doubles or we will go to a certain websites that sell single figs or a certain auction site
Unfortunately it probably has more to do with marketing than anything else. Remember DC Hypertime was a 100 or so figure set with only 10 uniques. Quite easy to collect and very desirable from that aspect. As was Marvel's Infinity Challenge. 12 Uniques spread across 120 or so figures. With the expansions came a new though...why not force people into buying more boosters by upping the number of uniques and lowering the number of figures in the set....enter the 96 figure set with 12 uniques in it.
Onn breakdown, you average 1 unique per 6 boosters. If you have 10 uniques, you can complete your uniques in about 60 boosters. If you have a dozen uniques, it takes 72 boosters...a substantial gain in purchases. So in a 10 unique/100 figure scenario, in theory, you can complete your set ...both uniques and commons in that 60 booster purchases(60=10 uniques + 230 common figures) . By lowering the number of figures in the set to 96 and upping the number of uniques, you complete your set....both uniques and commons in that 72 boosters (72-12 uniques and 276 common figures). So by splitting the set up between European and American markets you are forcing the number of boosters to complete the set closer to 72, which is probably their target number in forcing playings to purchase to complete their sets.
From my standpoint, though, it has had an opposite affect. I no longer buy any boosters, pick my sets and uniques up on the secondary market and pay about 1/4 of the cost that it would normally cost me if I purchased the sets in booster form. Unfortunately, a lot of the local players are starting to do the same thing and the sales of Heroclix are dropping at our local stores (we had about 1/20th of the normal order for Indyclix here). If ANY set needed that extra incentive to drive sales it is Indyclix because you simply don't have enough mainline characters that will keep players coming back to purchase more.

I wasn't to upset about it until I saw that one of the UK characters has Probubility Control. (Colsey Kid was posting stats, if you guys wanted to look for 'em.)
I dunno. This definately has me a bit soured, mostly because I'm lazy. But now seeing that the UK figs may have powers that aren't accessable here in the US (like PC) makes me feel almost jipped. Liek someone mentioned earlier, many of the figs that are "tourney worthy" aren't the most recognizeable to the masses.
Eh. But I guess it works both ways. People in the UK will want the figs folks in the US are getting, right? Oh, wait - other countries in Europe are getting the US release...
I admit to being over 30, and the 2000 AD figures are the only ones in this set with which I am familiar. Judge Dredd and the four Dark Judges are the figures that I most want to have. I suppose this marketing scheme may increase WizKids' profits somehow (I'm not sure how, though) but it will certainly lose them a lot of goodwill among their customer base, for whatever that is worth.
Got my case today!
Missing 4 REV figs from the US set
Uniques pulled:
Hecate (looks AWSOME)
(x2)Siamese (One of THE best scuplts I've ever seen)
Abby Chase (My fav but sucks absolutely compared to the ironically cheaper veteran)
(x2)Cyblade (her head is unnervingly small and her proportions are really strange, you'll notice it really quickly, like her bottom half is too big)
Hellboy (Wonderfull sculpt, suprisingly bad paint job, maroon plastic with a few dabs of two colors ,might just be mine though)
Shi (Great figure, unimpressive dial, but not useless like Abby's Curse you WK!)
Some awesome sculpts overall, from the half shadow Yukio to the amazing spiked asian goth chick dual sword wielding Scarab to thedramatic Magdalena, the confusingly armed Tiger Lily (two uzi's with a 0 range and BCF, to the suprisingly erotic Aphrodite IX! This set LOOKS GOOD!
Bottom line I'm pleased
PM me with trade offers if interested, I want the UK's and Witchblade and Angelus and Judge Anderson, Maybe Death too.
