A Card Trooper has the potential to mill a lot more than three cards. Three is assuming is dies the very next turn. However, it's other effect kinda protect itself from that happening. No one is going to Smash this thing for a -1. Assuming you can hold off the Cyber Dragons, you can get multiple turns of millage from this guy.
Merchant, on the other hand, might not mill anything, and it's slower.
I see a few issues with that :
1.Card trooper will mill everything, not just your monsters
2.On your opponents turn it has no attack boost, so anything can kill it. Its not going to last more than a turn. Its definitely not gonna last more than a turn once your opponent realizes you are trying to mill.

Wow...my bad. For some reason I assumed the atk boost worked like Bazoo. My new opinion of this card is that it is very playable, but shouldn't be restricted.
I agree that mill deck idea [Trooper + Machine Duplication], and as the day of the new ban list has arrived, with Grace and Breaker gone, Card Trooper is more desirable than ever. I know a random card shop is selling these babies for $40 a pop. No jive!
Really ? The place I order from is usually extremely expensive (to give you an idea cards like sattelite cannon and DD Warrior go for nearly 200 bucks) and they are selling them for around 20 bucks. Funnily enough, the only DP ultra they are selling for a higher price is malicious.
I'm pissed off that they have good cards for the URs in the DP's :p They are such sucky sets, and I don't want to spend any money on them, but all 4 of the ultra rares are great cards, and I want full playsets off all of them.
card trooper is just another verison of dekocki. except it dont have to be flipped up to draw a card. i would go as far and say it can be a replacement.
I disagree with anyone that thinks this card will be limited.....or even seen at any Top 8's of big tournaments. I think it can be fun, but not competitive in 90% of decks that will try. Bazoo is the obvious, but it will not replace Dekoichi. Just my opinion so go try and prove me wrong and break this little guy. It generally won't last past the first turn you play it so even if you use 3 and get them all they will normally die before your next turn.
Frostbyte i already broke this guy in my current deck i going to post it up. he is broken but not a card u can splash, even more so on march 1st when we lose MOF but im going to post my current deck in the deck depot so u can see how powerfull he is in the right deck. the deck is going to be called TROPPER RETURN. if anyone other than frostbyte wants to see a deck that abuses the tropper check it out. the post ur comments or ask hoe it works.
Most look at it as a better Deko, but with a tech side so that it has the option to do more then flip. Awsome card, can be splashed about anywhere for this reason, but it's not me (not for the $30+it's hitting on ebay!) I just traded mine:
My:
Card trooper and $15 (Not on realms, don't worry mods!)
For His:
1 Snipe Hunter
1 Chiron, the Mage rare
2 Exiled Force common
1 Smashing Ground
1 Widespread Ruin
2 Solemn Judgment
1 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 RoD
3 Tin Cyber Dragon
Not quite. Cybers are around $12 right now and Widespread is $19 on average.
Which is why I added whether or not he needed them immediately, because in about 2 months, widespread will be worth about 5 cents. Same for smashing. In 4 months, cybers will be 5 bucks or less.

That's exactly what I was gonna say.
Cyber Dragon for $5. That's not bad for a start
Also, E-Hero Stratos out probably today in stores, and the upcoming Fairy and Dark-type decks that include cards like Crush Card Virus, Widespread Ruin, and new exclusive cards like Deck Destruction Virus of Magic.
