On a lighter note I can have her and Tony goin' out now and getting hammered, and when they get back to Avengers mansion have Captain America rip them a new one.......and I can even play it out now....

"I wish the storyline dealing with her alcoholism had been dealt with better. It just felt rushed..."
Quote by RedShoulder
Definetly right on that one! With it just being a side note to the "Live kree or die" storyline severly underscored the impact of alcoholism in society. But really if they made a HUGE deal out of it, it would have read like a more P.C. version to the Iron Man issues where Tony had to deal with alcoholism......to drive a finer point home they could have gone down a completly different route and have the addiction totally destroy her and have severe impacts throuhout the Marvel U. But I am glad she is still around and now in Clix form.
To reiterate:
AVENGERS ASSSEMBLE!!!

Aside from the alcoholism problem itself, the cause for her spiral into the substance abuse, mainly a depression and anxiety disorder, was dealt with pretty well and continued to be an issue for the Avengers for quite a while. She's actually got one of the most varied histories for an Avenger and female Marvel character and really added some drama to the team dynamic.
As Ms. Marvel, she showed a lot of bravado and confidence which was kind of new for a female character at the time and made for a fun read when she took loud-mouthed male villains down a peg. When Rogue stole her power, that really sent her into a tailspin emotionally and was in stark contrast to when she became Binary and practically unstoppable. After losing her Binary powers, she really took big hit to her confidence and was not real reliable as a team player.
Out of all the Avengers in recent years, her's seemed the most "human" in dealing with the gift, application and loss of super powers and how to live up to the expectations. I really enjoyed Cap's tough love with her to get her to face her fears, and Tony's outreach to her born out of a "been there, done that" knowledge of what she was going through with the alcoholism. Even her friendships and "off-duty" conversations with Warbird, Wasp, Scarlet Witch and She-Hulk helped to make the Avengers a more grounded read and made the team more human.
Anyway, that's enough on that. Consider it a tribute to the fact we finally got what looks to be a well balanced Avenger in both sculpt and ability. I still think it's funny that the designer notes even reference her other titles, but don't explain why she didn't end up r/e/v. Hopefully, they're planning on future versions of her.

I need lots of Brood, however. Need someone to carry my Skrulls around. Stoooopid Avengers, they will fall before the might of the Skrull-Brood Imperium. And those Kree are going to get absolutely PIECED by the long range power and abilities of the mass swarm techniques of Skrullos.
Heh.
You must be confused. The skrulls can beat the X-Men but they don't stand a chance against the Avengers.
All the Skrulls have to do is to turn into a future self of their X-Men opponent and they will become paralyzed with angst.
Yeah, the "raining down damage from above" thing is confusing. The only explaination I can think of, given their "newly powerful MC" from last week, is that the people that write the official reviews do NOT actually PLAY the game, nor have they read any of the rule books. They ust kind of make stuff ap as they go.
They are probably too busy playtesting the upcoming "HeroClix 2.0" rules to know how the old ones work.
HeroClix 2.0 will be a re-release of all the old character but much more powerful to make current models useless, and rather than having maps in starters will include randomized 2 square pieces in each booster that must be assembled - in the correct order - to make a map. Each player will be required to bring at least 2 full maps to a tournament. In place of a map piece, you might get an object counter or a barrier or smoke marker.
:D
The next Indy expansion needs...SLUG MAN! With arch-enemy Paige-O-Tron, of course. And why not Captain Napalm as well?
I haven't been around that much. What exactly is the deal with this "Powerbomb" that I keep hearing about? Is that the rumored comedy set of clix? I'm assuming they are not talking about the wrestling move...
Back on topic, I am more than pleased that they have Warbird in this set, even if she is a Unique. She is at the top of my want list. For them to make her an R/E/V, they would have had to include Binary as a Unique due to the difference in appearance and they wouldn't even do that for Angel/Death/Archangel. They would have to really get creative with her dial to ensure that the Veteran would cost more than the Experienced if all they had was an R/E/V. The Experienced could have some higher numbers, but still give the Veteran more clix of health, to represent her becoming more tenacious perhaps... I suppose they would just paint her skin red on that version (didn't she look like that near the beginning of Avengers vol. 3?)
Anyway, I can't reiterate enough how happy I am that Warbird is in this set. I don't even mind her being 129 points. I would have been disappointed if it looked like Carol was going to get short changed again...
Carol Danvers has been Ms. Marvel, then Binary, and now Warbird.
Why didn't they make a R/E/V of Carol instead of a unique. I will be happy with having at least one version, but it just seems really goofy to make only a unique version and then go on about how many diffrent characters that she has been in the past.
