I think it is nice to see WK Saying they are exploring how to imploy ammo types in the B-Tech Universe that are not in the game yet, Very cool MORE SE's! i alawys had an idea, For units like the Sheild Turion, How about a melee SE called Deflect? Any Ranged attack against this unit is reduced to a damage of one, It only has one click of it but would be worth it.
heh well i mean it could be limited to Balistic, I personally would like to see Inferno Rounds Or HEAT Rounds, -1 click of damage VS mechs 2 clicks of heat. +1 damage to tanks and troops.

*mutters many curse and profanity*
This is based in the BATTLETECH UNIVERSE!! NOT THE UNIVERSE OF MECHASSUALT!
I wasn't talking about mechassualt. You know other games have energy shields. I just mean the shield Idea is silly, but could be used as a def SE but still be APed.

Going to have to rename it 'NotMechWarrior', because there is little incentive or advantage to mechs anymore. Maybe 4-5 mechs total that can be fielded in the teeth of the ever-growing cheese grater that is WK R+D..... well, we moved from Arty warrior BACK to VTOL warrior. And the BIGGEST indicator of the WK bias can be seen in the Rifleman. It started life as an AA mech in CBT, that WK saw fit to neuter so it isn't an AA mech now. And it's not like 90 percent of the AA vehicles out there are worth a dang.

ummm dude... the Project Phoenix Rifleman (at least the model with the 2 RAC 5s) is not designed to be an AA mech. It was made to be an urban Brawler and short range fire support machine. Now if it is ever dictated that a rifleman with the twin 10X clatterguns or the Lt Gauss cannons is released then I will say it is an AA mech. So far though all the dials have conformed to the 8D model
Dang... can't edit...
Page 82 of the original (unseen complete) 3025 TRO. Under capabilities, 4th paragraph-
"The Rifleman's secondary role is that of anti-aircraft platform, as it's Garret D2J tracking system provides excellent acquistion of swift moving targets."
Stahli I happen to have every single technical readout published. I Know the vernable riflemans history. I KNOW it was designed in the 2600s as an Anti Aircraft Mech. I also know that the Mech was redesigned with a new paradigm in mind and that is the model used today. I also know that the 3025 model rifleman are so obsolete only a periphery unit or a fool would take one into battle.
Sorry dude but the "it was originaly designed for AA" argument does not fly, because that is not what the common model in 3067/3134 is designed for
OK, so I'll ask the question... WHY did WK see fit to 'fluff' it's design away from it's AA heritage? (Because it's not like VTOLs have anything else to worry about....)
