Well its all ok. Qauds look cool. I think I see Dashers II, Urbanmechs, BattlemasterII or IIc / Shadowhawk,Goliath,Banshee
and merc Falcon common mech I think a night gyr. I think the merc mech is eyrie. Salamder and Fenrir are back cool do Sc get a Fenrir. plus I think new AA guns.
D&D mini is to be honest more ment for people who already play D&D so they can do some quick hack and slash without the RPing and also to get figs to use while RPing. They already suffered a horrendous crash and burn in the miniature games market (Warflail) and seem to be taking a much more careful path into the market.
It's too early to say what will happen with SWM. Of course the franchise itself will pretty much insure strong sales at first, but its almost essentially like the D&D game (D20 based) so it remains to be see how it will fare.
There are two BIT differences you have to look at when you compare MW and these two though.
1: MW is a good deal older then this new D&D mini game and is much older then SWM. We dont know whether or not they will have anything like set retirement, or if they will last long enough to even consider it.
2: I have yet to see any major tournament scene/support for those games while WK puts out a considerably huge amount of support for tournaments, which has made the enviroment much more competetive and therefore created issues in competetive balence. With sets going out of print and already established problem pieces, the only fair way there seems for new players to have a shot of doing well is for some kind of retirement system.
actually, this was my suggestion, along with others when the premier eddition came out. We mailed Wizkids and said that in order for it to truly be a 'everything you need to play' package, it needed a play mat and/or paper terrain.
I'm glad to see they listened on that one. This starter definately looks good. Two equal point armies, both are pieces you can only get in the starter, etc.
also, for those talking about those who were complaining/quit. I had basically quit (played in the FP prerelease to get a look at sculpts, and played 1 weekend following that, but otherwise hadn't played in over 3-4 months).
This might just get me back into playing when it comes out.
By the looks of things Wolf Dragoon players are going to have NOTHING to complain about anymore now that they get ####loads of infantry. Oh well... I guess that the Ronins are bound to get good stuff as well also.
let the knee-jerk 'I'm gone' posts continue! this i command! no more open minded player, let the cries of Mech Knight, and i quit fill the air to down out the thoughts of mechs once again rulling the battle field!!
good ridence to all of you malcontented yutz's who can't seem to understand that mechs are finaly going to be able to roam the battle field and RULE the way they were intended too...
ok I know thatamong the infantry one is either an SRM or LRM battery, a Fenrir, and a Salamander.
The other 21st unit looks like Udine Battle armor. But what are the other two infantry. and what is with the big Centauri Mech. is that the mangorel that Kev mentioned???
Originally posted by poiuyt If it's another game your looking for try Warmachine, the Star Wars game, CBT, or even the hated GW stuff. $300 will set you up in anyone of them and the loss of sales will hurt WK.
War machine is the way to go. I do not believe I have played a more aggressive game. It rocks!! Unfortunatly WK sees their wargames as non aggressive and would not like to demonstrate aggression. They would rather see a lack of commitment on the players part with the hopes that the opponenet might turn the other cheek
We are only whining about retirement because we have invested our money into the game.
We hope that WK would reprint equivalent units in the base sets to accommodate some of the "standard" units so as not to completely force everybody to start from scratch.
Yes set retirement bye bye Cheese; ah #### its going to get my precious Hasbani first! Curse you Whizkids I'll never have to see a tank dropping again I hate you. J/k I'll mourn the loss of my collection as the new game will completely render it useless. On the brightside I'll be able to pick up new pieces of Plastic crack and some cards to go with it.

WoTC has observed the quagmire WK has stepped in with retirement and are reluctant to do the same.
Considering that WOTC _invented_ set retirement with M:tG, and it has served them well for over 10 years, somehow, I doubt it. Granted, I doubt they'll retire anything with the first expansion; rather, I suspect they'll start retirement somewhere around their fourth or fifth set...
Ok, here is my read on this:
1. Everybody griped about the rules changes that were TRULY to huge to keep track of, as WK tried to fix our gripes.
2. They attempted to fix a bunch of stuff by toning down ALOT of defenses, etc., in FP.
3. The sculpts are getting better and better, in my opinion.
4. LOTS of the rules are strange but usable, with glitches still being found.
5. We HAVE to make it so that newer players will join in, or we LOSE our hobby, as older players lose interest.
6. THEY ARE TRYING to make money by making us as happy as they can, so they change the game around in a DRASTIC way.
Now, I am confused as to why I see all the griping? I guess we just have to do it?
I like it, I think. The stuff looks cool. We are getting ALOT of things that we asked for, and they are NOT allowing the game to stagnate.
Looks like a winner, if we ALL just give it a try. Otherwise, well, I hate to sound tactless, but, just quit. I am gonna grab all that I can afford, trade, collect, and play my heart out!
