Actually that's not fair. The venue didn't screw up, they just misjudged demand and when they ordered another case they were told the distributors were all sold out and were not ordering any more product.
Could be worse - I never ordered the OC kit because, while I had bought an entire CASE from my venue (and pre-ordered it in time for my venue to get the CTA kit from my order plus the BM's order alone), they never got around to giving me a receipt. I bugged them for (literally) a month, and they kept not having any reciept books except one they'd apparently lifted from another (non-gaming) store. I suppose I should've just sent in that, but I couldn't see WK accepting a receipt from a hair salon...
Oh, and we never got our CTA kit either. But that's b/c the local distributors around here are either idiots or theives. This is the second time this happened...
Oh, and the Wolf mechs look okay. Actually, while they are kinda neat, I agree that the whole "make your mechs look like your totems" thing can be a bit silly. I want my giant walking robots to look like robots, dang it, not beast transformers! The bears at least looked mostly mech-y, and the JFs looked sufficiently mean to pull it off. But these? Definitely a bit to "werewolf-y" for me. I know WK has to pay its sculptors/designers for *something*, and maybe it'd be boring to see the classic designs sculpted for the 100th time, but also... maybe not.
Maybe we can get the original Ana K. in Widowmaker as a historical mech for the next CTA? Please? Pretty please?
I dig the blocky look of the Wolves, and those are some nice sculpts. I guess I can come to grips with white, gray and brown as colors, though it's a little blah.
As for the apparent Vixen, that's interesting. They still took some minor liberties with their interpretation, but it'd explain the Falconesque paint. I will note, however, that it appears the Falcons have lightened and metallicized the gray in their paint scheme into a silver, at least when compared to a DOM Loki by the old Mk. I Eyeball. The net result is, I didn't glance at it and immediately think "that's a Jade Falcon." Still, looks good, though.
As for the others, I assume the top two are the Wulfen and Warwolf. The tank might be a Morrigu (stress might), a statement premised only on the front/back tread thing, but that would again be a case of liberal interpretation, so it seems more likely that it's something we've never seen before. The infantry does look ProtoMechy to me, but I don't think it's a design we're familiar with if it is, so it could just as easily be new BA.
So, new sculpts include at least the Raven, Vixen, Warwolf, Wulfen, and that tank and infantry. So far, so good...

Okay. But what kind of robot? The Dalek robotic exosuits seen in Dr. Who? A Space Ork Gargant? R2-D2? First generation Transformers? Gobots? Great Mazinger? Please be more specific, my dear friend.

Well, I admit that it's a pretty big Battle Armor. But since it's on an infantry dial en given the fact that there are no special rules for ProtoMechs available in MechWarrior (even though someone undoubtedly wrote house rules for ProtoMechs), it's simply a rather big Battle Armor, just like the Kanazuchi, Fenrir and Ravager. Larger Battle Armors have the advantage of being able to carry heavier and/or more weapons, just like ProtoMechs, but they have the advantage of being easier and cheaper to manufacture. Also you don't need to enhance the pilots of those large Battle Armors to enable them to pilot their BAs.

Even though I used the Preview Post button before posting my previous message, I thought that my text could use a bit of editing after I did some re-reading. Since I haven't send any money to the moderators yet, this is the only way to do that.
well the Ravager, Kanazuchi and Salamander all look pretty big aswell, (and are 1 figure on base) i doubt it would be a Protomech, those things would be to hard to release and would make the game to complex (believe Kelly once said they woudnt make them)

so my guess its a Bearlike RD BA
As much as I wouldn't mind seeing protomechs in the game, rather large battlearmor like this fills that niche anyway. Still, if it was a protomech(looks bigger than any previous Battle Armor) it'd be interesting.
Well, to be quite honest, I was pretty surprised at the new wolf sculpts. But all in all, I'm a fan of new designs as much as I am of old, so I think it's only fair CW gets the same treatment CJF did.
They do have a look of fresh-out-of-the-factory-mint designs with heavy firepower. I like the Warwolf better out of the two sculpts previewed, though the CJF mech is interesting as well.
*sigh* Guess after the horde of sculpts I need to collect from Vanguard, I'll have a bunch more "must-haves" to get from Wolf Strike. Anybody care to guess at the wolf units' eBay going price? :cheeky:
We are concerned about the price increase, because two WS boosters will soon cost the same amount as 3 Vanguard boosters, for less. Yes, the boosters will have 2 'mechs, 2 pilots, and 2 gear cards. I haven't been too thrilled with many of the 'mechs we've been getting since AOD, personally. And paying $30 for 4 infantry, 2 vehicles, 4 'mechs, (half of which I'd be suprised to see were competetive) 2 pilots, 2 gear CECs, and 1 "other", is simply too much money.
First, the price increase was announced back when they did the last Chat. There was a big mention on the front page and everything. Why is this suddenly a surprise?
Second, the price increase for Wolf Strike will be the first one in four years. Between inflation and the dramatic increase in the cost of oil (which happens to be a key ingredient in the plastic used to make the figures, not to mention all the oil used to ship the figures), it's amazing we haven't seen a price increase before now. As has been gone over before, at least we're getting more figures for the extra money, instead of just paying more for the same amount.
Personally, I'd rather not have WizKids end the game due to a lack of profitability, and for that to happen, it means I'll have to pay more. If I have to pay more anyway, I happen to like the idea of actually getting more in the booster, rather than just having the booster cost rise without getting anything additional. But that's just my opinion.
