Keegantir,
As promised here is an army that has success beating big bound armies.
Here is an army that I have used in the past to take out a Corpheus army.
The Nightstalkers are in a formation with the Zombie Baron. The Baron is in front so they can benefit from his Invisibility.
I keep one of the Crystal Protectors near the Huntress so that she can keep her Magic Retaliation after being hit from being healed.
The Galeshi is there to obviously Ram Corpheus.
The trick is not to focus on Corpheus so much as to try to hit the support troops so that Corpheus is all alone and then it is just a matter of time.
Now I don't mind anyone that wants to critique this army.

We can play the this beats that game all day long. Personally I would not have any trouble against that army using an AD army.
Nationals and Worlds will tell the way it truely is. I'm going to stop talking about this subject till after US Nats, where I will be playing a AD army (unfourtenatly).
I do agree that it is pointless to argue this point when what matters is who is playing the army and not the army itself.
I unfortunatly will be at Nationals even though I did win an invite due to financial reasons. I will be at GenCon though and would be interested in putting this debate to the test.
If you are going to GenCon construct a 300 point AD army and I will play this army. This is the only way to decide.
The other thing is that we could both be right. The army that I listed I have played against big bound armies here in St. Louis. It has done really well, but I haven't had a chance to really play outside of St. Louis except for conventions. You could very well be able to handle this army. Without knowing your skill at Mage Knight I can't say for sure that I could beat you for sure.
I am not so egotistical to say that I can beat anyone for sure. I do live by a simple philosophy, Anyone can beat anyone at any given time.
Let me know if you are attending GenCon.

The problem, I think, is not so much the power of the figure as the percentage of the army that power figure is in.
Compare to Magic: the Gathering. A T2 "standard" power card, even if you could use 4 of them, would account for about 7% of the cards in a 60-card deck. An Amazon Draconum (108) points in a 200-point army is 54% of the army. (Corpheus is 62.5%, or 42% in 300). That can really ruin the originality of the army because if you use either in 200, that means that you can't even use 100 points for your other figures.
While it's not to the level of the Power Nine days of M:TG, the MK tourney format definitely needs some looking at because (a) you need AD or Corphy to play competetively in 200-300 or (b) you need an army that can COMPLETELY counter it (i.e. an all-LI army).
This is one of the major reasons many people detest Uprising. It doesn't do anything to help the two above armies in competitive play, and if WK doesn't do anything to promote the creativity of the armies, MK might as well just go belly-up within another year.
I don't think they just pull ideas out of... there.... because thats no way to run a company. I'm sure they take ideas for figures and prepare them accordingly..... take Pyre Spirit for example..... they could only have done a better job by giving him a little higher attack.... but he still rules
Banning figs will end up going in the wrong direction...
Since they'd b given the option to ban, this allows WK to create totally awesome monster figs an release them as a sneak peek. Everyone rushes out and buys them. A month later WK bans that along with another 3 figs that completely removes the effective figs from the set leaving nothing. Next set that is released u think they'd wise up, but they decide to rinse and repeat.
At least they know not to release another AD. Corpheus and Shield Golem r easy to beat as I have done many times. I will agree that AD can be a bit annoying, but soon ppl will get hailed on by AD hate armies and something else will hit the fan. Really you just have to take the shots as the come. Believe me, as a former MTG player, banning is not the direction for this game. It WILL create a chain that will eventually ban everything.
I do agree that there is imbalance, but that's no reason to start banning things. If just bcuz one basketball team has better players then another, do they have to sit out for the season?
Eazy, I have to agree with every word you said. I was in chat last night talking about the "good old days". A different type of MK. A type of MK new players will never know. A strategic game. It took 2 or more turns sometimes to set up a good shot. If you were 15" away from any of your opponents figs, you were safe (generally). 14" range ruled, but could still be taken down and usually was by a good player. It was with the release of Corpheus and Amazon Drac that the game was changed (forever unless these figs are banned or erattaed). Corph, single handedly killed all formations and Amazon Drac is just too accurate, too fast, too strong, too agile. She is all that and a bag of chips. It's like someone looked at the point cost formula and specifically min/maxed this monster. Big Bound has forced people to consider all LI armies as a viable strategy (in many venues it probably is). This type of ArmyA vs ArmyAHate is what causes the game to grow stale. Players tolerated Corpheus. Many still enjoy a post Amazon environment. One more will probably sway the rest of the group into believing that big bound has ruined the competitive game. I really, really hope that the new abilities will help curb big bounding armies. My guess is that useable figs with these new abilities won't be seen until the set following Dragon's Gate. This will forever be known as the summer of big bound.
Speaking as someone that is indifferent on the topic of banning figures, I'll say now that after the past few days I hope WK doesn't ban any figures. This is not because I disapprove at all. This is because the vast majority of MK players still are not ready for it. If WK keeps going as they are right now, creating new power figures, they will lose their player base due to lack of interest in a stale game. If they go the banning route, they lose their player base due to players that cannot tolerate bannings. They have dug themselves a hole that they cannot dig out of. As a side note I would like to "call out" the person responsible for the AD. What were you thinking man?! The playtesters must have reported back to WK that this monster was insane (or at least I hope they did). What did WK do after the playtesters told them AD was broken? They went ahead and released it anyway (maybe it's actually toned down since the playtest version, scary thought). I believe that Uprising is step 1 of a plan to fix the game. They at least stopped the bigger, more power theme that was so apparent in Sinister and Minions. Uprising is the most balanced set released so far and that is a good thing. All we need now is for WK to implement step 2 of the process and find a way to tone down big bound (which on it's own is basically banning 90% of the figures in existance and as we all know, players wan to play their figures, not look at them on a shelf). WK, your flagship game needs help now. Give the game the attention it deserves. This problem will not go away, but is growing bigger by the day. The players want a fun game to play. Not a game of My Bound is Bigger, I Win. The masses have spoken and you cannot ban a figure. That will not be tolerated. You can tweak the rules all you want and AD is still a beast. What's the grand plan to curb big bound I wonder?
No matter what you guys think..... banning is a 100% horrible idea for MK and is just gonna piss off a whole bunch of players. Forget banning... just create errata.... thats the solution.
Audio... thats exactly what i'm referring to... M:TG :)
Eazy, errata such as the new rules they set... like the only rule that I don't like "multidials cannot be enhanced with magic enhancement"..... stuff like that. WK will constantly be changing the rules and the way SA's work.... we just have to give them some time. M:TG has been out for 10 years and they STILL change their errata on certain things. Banning figs/cards is the worst thing you could do to the game. Think of the kid who traded most of his best figs JUST to get the Amazon Draconum or Solonavi Striker that he always wanted...... just to have it banned not too long after. Not to be mean.... but banning, in my opinion is the wuss's way out of dealing with major threats. OMG!!!! AMAZON DRACONUM BEAT MY ARMY!!!! I'M GONNA HAVE IT BANNED!!! Come on people.... new strategy develops all the time. Thats what so sweet about this game..... 3D strategy and the SAs that make the game wonderful. I'm sure if a community puts their minds together... they can come up with something more logical and less asinine than banning.
