It would be very good if WK revisted that before the 2.0 release! If they are thiking about it now, why wait until after 2.0 is out. It's not going to hurt their sales of 2.0 if the figs can make formations...but it sure might hurt their sales if they can't.
Originally posted by BrutalDeluxe The LAncers OoV is actually Darq, I would say. Just that they didnt know Darq existed, at that time :). So Darq replaces the OoV.
Seeing as how there are no Vladd units in Lancers, I'm going to have to assume that he means the Mounted Uhlrik Charger.
While it makes sense to us dedicated MK gamers to change the 1.0/2.0 formation restriction. In general practice, a company would not change a printed set of rules before it even hits the street. They have said they would look at it in the future. That it is not locked in stone, and that is all they could be expected to say right now.
I would think they would want to clear out all their 1.0 stock though and one good way would be to make this change. We will know better around January.
But WK has already said that the rules we have are not final and that there can/will be changes all the way up to Nov. If they had never said this, I would agree with you, but they themselves have changed rules right before deadlines and have kept such options open...it would not be a horrid thing if they did this.
The only reason I can think of to do this is to push 2.0 sales in the first few months so they can have a better looking financial statement for 2.0 (We sold X boxes...yeah!!!). the rule makes no sense as all of our 1.0 figs are currently the members of those 2.0 factions. Unless they really want to explain that one in the storyline somehow.
(You know, Darq, you've been a great general...but we really don't need you now. We have Kossak! Sorry, it's just a symbol thing...you understand that, right?)
How many of you would be satisfied with a domain card that granted the ability to mix formations. They could even add a low power faction ability to the old faction with that card.
Look for domain cards to be a way for WK to controll the enviroment. IF certain army builds, tactics or figures begin to show up a lot they can rpint domain cards as silver bullets
I have no problem with domain cards or the rules being sent to teh printer ( I did not know that, but it makes sense).
a domain granting 1.0/2.0 formations would be acceptable but hard to justify from a storyline motif. Why would I have a domain give me that ability if I can't normally have it. What, Bad Weather?
Barrel;
I understand that the use of terrain/domains will help control domonate stratagies. My only issue will be rather a stratagy control will be rare or not. If it's to control a game breaking issue it better be common. Same with any domain created to "eratta" the game (like ArmyC's example of domains to give 1.0/2.0 formatoins). What would be the point if only a handful of players have the card and it becomes a powercard in it's own right?
Barronmore to justify the 1.0/2.0 storyline what about the domain card below.
Ancient Alliance
If there is a warrior with the (Elven Lord) faction symbol in play, all warriors with the (KI) faction symbol are considered to be a subfaction of the Elven Lords and may use the following subfaction ability: Demoralized units in base contact with a friendly warrior with the command SA, may heal 3 clicks at the beginning of the command phase.
This rule is similar to the way they do the Shyft now, so the precedent is set. The light subfaction ability is a nice touch also. They could send a series of these out in sequential issues of InQuest. I bet InQuest would pay to mave them made as well.
Or they could allow them to be printed off the official site, and legal for tournament play in paper form.
Depending on how Wk does the plotline it may or may not work. I do like the idea however. I think the plotline would have to justify it with the thought of each faction being destroyed in some way and these are the stragglers that have been picked up by diffrent warbands throughout the land.
The only issue running it like the shyft would be what would happen if the Elven Lords peice is eliminatied. Would the KI peices lose the ability or would it be an effect throughout the game. I think this should be thorughout the game because the MS are controled by telepathy/spells while I'm assuing the KI are rejoining the kinsmen out of choice.
