This team won me 2 games today, one against a KI Swarm and the other a Magus Anendu team.
Dwarven Stomper 94
lvl 5 Sham-rin 57
lvl 4 Red Duchess 58
lvl 3 Astrus 44
Marrow 28
** Amazon Mancatcher
total: 300
The stomper's a tough cookie, and Sham-rin's a nasty sweeper (play her lots in 2.0, she'll get even better), but i think your army could use just a little tweaking. Static range, as has been said, is semi-dead. The stomper'll be outranged by almost anything with bound, and can be tied up by anything w/ a 12 movement. Red Duchess is an okay piece, but i'd find something better in the bodyguard dept. You're also lacking in blockers. Your healing's taken care of in the form of astrus, no complaints there.
Originally posted by saidin0111 I haven't played any tournaments, but I plan on starting soon and would like to use a Solonavi based army. This is what I have for a 300 pt. army:
Solonavi Drone ***---------------44
Seeker Azruk L 2-------------------37
Solonavi Channeler *-------------33
Soul Stealer *----------------------35
Living Elemental ***--------------40
Crystal Bladesman *--------------15
Mending Priestess **-------------26
Khamsin Sniper **----------------21
Dwarven Thunder Gunner **---29
Black Powder Boomer**---------19
Total---------------------------------299
You're doing a couple things wrong here. You're mixing both melee and range, not only in the army, but in formations as well. Azruk's okay, but i think i'd go with another drone instead. You can keep the channeler, but i wouldn't put them in formation w/ the drones. Or, you could bump azruk up a couple levels. The soul stealer isn't really providing anything useful with her low attack and glass jaw. The elemental formation is okay, but it could be tons better. Drop the elemental altogether and throw in 3 more bladesmen perhaps. Drop the priestess, you don't need additional healing after the channeler. Oh, and if you can, don't use * bladesmen. The ** version is usually considered optimal, but i personally like the ***'s for their 2 damage on second slot. Unfortunately, the bladesmen aren't very good when compared with your 'navi combat guys, so they can be chucked for some harassement. Your third formation has a mix of ranges, but they all have poor combat ability. I'd drop it down to maybe 3 snipers, and try to work in an enhancer. So, we're working with:
*** Drone x2
Seeker Azruk lvl 4
*** Fell Reaper
* Channeler
*** Sniper
* Sniper x2
*** E$A
The drones and azruk tear everything up in close combat, while the reaper ensures they get there. The Snipers can take things down at great range, and then enhancer makes sure they'll do a little more damage. The channeler keeps everyone healthy. 300 pts on the dot.
thanks for the analysis. I would do something like you said if I had multiple drones, any fell reapers at all, and more than the one sniper. Unfortunately I have ~125 figures all obtained through boosters and starters, so I don't have a lot of the staple figures that make up parts of most armies that I read about. Yeah, I've got no Fell Reapers, no Shades, no Crystal Protectors, only one demi-magus **, no forced march figs, about three LI figs, one of which is a high pt fig, the other two are Warrior Sprites *, and **, no Blade Golems, really just a lot of random stuff that no one seems to use besides my uniques and higher pt value figs. Anyways, thanks again, and I will probably look into getting some Fell Reapers and other pretty standard units soon so that I can add more depth to my strategies.
Amazon Drac (108)
Keening Daemona (53)
Skyros (75) or Mondravalis(37) + Warpath(36) + Podo(3)
Black Dirge (35)
Marrow (28)
299 total or 300 total with the substitution for Skyros
Thanks again.
Well to begin with this army is very normal. Its very good but very normal. Most of the time one would want to add the element of suprise to its army however the peices that are listed are so good that I beleive that you shouldnt truly worrry. I would use Skyros in place of Mon. because he is an all around better figure and more importantly puts you up to 300 exactly. Another suggestion that I would like to add is that this army is very fast save Podo. What I suggest is that you either take out Marrow and Podo to add in Helkate Hookjaw or if you want to keep Marrow in leave out Podo altogether. Use Hookjaws quickness and mancathching abilities to take out any unwanted opposition.
eskimobob: Use the first one. You have a mean combination of units that work well together.
GolemPower: That actuall sounds pretty good, although you don't have anything to beat down either the AD/Shadow combo, or a Shield Golem... put an answer to either one and you can handle a big tournament. This army, however, is great for great casual play though.
I agree with erik, use the first one, it seems to have more hitting power.
Golem: We're working with erik on taking his medicine, he's not been well. For the Under 40 point tournament, this looks like a rather nasty army. I do worry, however, that you've got 6 figures needing actions, and no formations to use with them.
Scratch that last thought. Which warlord are you fighting for, i need to know what'll work in formation and what won't.
