First I like to say the new rules and abilities are great. With the domains, constructed terrain, relics and sub-factions the game is even more versatile than before.
Reading Sneak Attack though it looks like figures with Charge and Sneak Attack (like Warpath) and figures who can surge and Sneak Attack (like Mortis Draconum) cannot fully benefit from it by moving and attacking in the same turn. Charging or Surging states that the figure is given a close combat action yet for Sneak Attack to prevent the free spin of an opponent a move action must be given to the figure. Is this the correct interpretation that every one sees?
All hail the rule of 3. Otherwise, we are so going to see 20 attack or more. That is just wrong. Otherwise the new rules rock. I can't wait to buy some and try them out. I really want to see for myself how 1.0 and 2.0 mesh. Expeically my Ariel Frostflail. :)
First off, you're right Terin... they'll always be around, lurking in the shadows... waiting... ;)
But anyway, @ Stormy:
Terin is absolutely right Stormy. MK1 figures are going to be just fine in MK2. There is no reason to start over... no domain is going to hurt you anymore than it will hurt 2.0 figures... no terrain will hurt (or help) you anymore than it will 2.0 figures... and so on. I'm going to have myself a little setup at Origins this coming year with my all 1.0 army and I'll take anyone with an all 2.0 army on and beat them. I have that much confidence in the way 1.0 pieces will work in 2.0.
Vulture: Mounted units with ram move a heck of a lot faster than any of the other mounteds thanks to the limitation of the rules on Flight, Charge, and Bound. Also all the single dial warriors with Charge/Bound who can not benefit from Force March are incredibly slow, and to me, not usefull. There are a whole host of subtle changes and conflicts in wording that will require eratta to clear up. I give them credit for making many improvements, however being "compatable" with the old figs only changed the power struggle, it didn't eliminate it.
Kenntak: I'll give you Pole Arm and Magic Blast. However F/L now misses entirely if u miss the primary target, magic freeze falls back to 50% chance of working, and the other SA limitations I have mentioned before.
All I can say is WOW! There are no new suprises from Gencon and the demo rules, but WK has done a great job in writing the rulebook to be consice and specific.
Now all we need are the rules for MDF's, titans, heros, castles, conquest, and all the other stuff.
I wonder if we will get the "hero" questions answered in January when the next Dungeons expansion comes out. hopefully the hero's will still be useful in 2.0. I noticed they are not considered a faction for game play purposes but yet, terrify does not work against heros. So, I'm assuing they are going to do something with them.
