I like the idea of a random drawing, but perhaps you should make people sign up for it since you don't want someone who doesn't have the means use it to get one and not do anything with it. That way anyone who really wants to be on the PC will have a chance, despite their popularity... But yeah, it would be a good idea to make sure anyone who signs up to be an active member on Realms first.

Make it a requirement that to sign up, you commit yourself to go to Gen Con Indy if you win. That way, no one is cheated out of the invite.

I may not be the most active poster here but day in and day out I see avid posters and article writers contributing to the VS Community and trying to help out good ole VSRealms. StuBarnes, En-Kur, and Tamahome are all avid posters and in some cases article writers that have done something to contribute to the community here. They all do good work and all deserve nominations.

I have met StuBarnes myself and found that he is a great guy and his Candy Corn is nothing to be taken lightly. Tamahome and Dave (En-Kur) I haven't had the pleasure of meeting but I am sure they are great guys. Also Tamahome has a hot girlfriend so I've heard...so that's a plus too if he comes we see her haha. Anyway...These three guys do DESERVE to be nominated and I think that whichever one does get the "Golden Ticket" will represent VSRealms nicely.

Also, people, just remember that this is 1 of the 4 invites being given away and I think that it is an idea that was worth taking a look at. Kergy made the right decision in doing so and I support this decision. As said above if anyone has a great idea to pass out those invites please email or PM him and he will be happy to receive your suggestions.

-ahem- seriously - yes, this is a form of popularity contest. On the other hand, those who rule such a popularity contest do it by being active, being friendly, and working within the community to make the community a more interesting, more entertaining, and friendlier environment.

So this 'contest' is merely a way for those within the community to reward one of their own for being a standout among the thousands of registered members on these Realms.

Remember that our 'Golden Ticket' winners are representative of this site - and we want those who represent us to be people who WILL represent us, and do so well.

With so many potential voters, I highly doubt that the winner will win because of a 'clique' or due to politics or sheer favouritism...heck, this thread already has about a thousand views as I post this - if even half of them nimnate someone we have over a quarter of our members taking part in the process, which shows a sense of community participation in selecting one of our own.

this is not a contest based on skill for an invite to the pro circuit. they already have contests like that. they're called PCQs. anyone can enter those. all you have to do is play the best and you win an invite.

my suggestion is that everyone nominate/vote for someone you feel contributes to the website in any number of ways (forums/journals/articles/etc), and base it on the impression they have made on you - whatever that may be.

Nina and I are packing for the trip. First to a wedding this weekend, then to Ohio. (Stopping in DC to soak up some Van Gogh on the way.)

The hate was just fake doing his thing, which he is very good at. We have to just grin and bear it. It's fun, in a sick sort of way. Makes me feel better about myself and about the rest of the Realmers.

It would be keen if we all won invites at Origins, a bunch of us will, good luck to all.

Forget the people with hot girlfriends. Those are dime a dozen, and heck, they already won a prize. What we really need is UGLY women! At that, ugly women who are willing to wear spandex.

First guy willing to post a picture of his 300-pound girlfriend wearing a Wonder Woman (or similar underdressed, spandex-laden hero) costume that promises to bring her to Gencon like that gets my vote. I mean, come on, that guy NEEDS a reaason to live.

And sorry ladies, getting your fat boyfriend to dress up as wonder woman doesn't count. With this crowd, that would be far too easy to accomplish.

In my short time here, En-Kur and Stu have been the ones to make the biggest impression on me. Thats why I think they will/should win.

Just like most everyone here, I would love to get a slot. I just don't realistically thinkg that I will. As I said before, En-Kur and Stu are the most deserving in my opinion.
