I am not sure there are any real degenerative combos yet.
It is hard to make them happen in such a small pool. There are a few cards that are on the watch list though.
First in my mind is Dual Nature. There has got to be a way to break this card wide open. It breaks one of the main fundamental rules ofthe game in character uniqueness. That is just huge. Secondly it gives you a second recruit phase in a sense. Things to think about here is attacking with a teamed up Brohood. Magneto into something stun him. Dual nature in your second Feral Rage without the discard as you are not recruiting him and attack with two FR's after your Magneto attacks on the fourth turn.
The above might be a little far fetched, but it is possible. It also seems pretty possible. We will see as time goes by.
Benoit you posted as I was so I will answer what I feel is one of the best magic bullets in the field right now.
Fa-Boom.
It only kills four deck slots to deal with BBH. It should be right on par with TNB as it hits big characters itself every turn. Then it pumps those characters and plays around a KaBoom curve hit just in case.
It seems to offer what you need to combat the field as it is simply a modified FF Beats. It also plays in a similar category as the BH decks that are out there right now.
I agree that the overwhelming number of BH decks out there skews the research a little. There are just more opportunities for good draws and match ups for it to make the cut more frequently.
This however does not discount the validity of the deck.
I am also of the mind that you play a deck that reduces the amount of chance for error, whatever that may be. BH decks are pretty straightforward. They hit you and...they hit you again. This speaks volumes for why the deck is good. The less time you have to think about your plays the less time you are presented with making errors.
This does not mean that you cannot play a more complex deck and expect to win. It just means you are going to have to put more work into the process of testing to make sure you know how to really play the deck.
I think if Dual Nature is going to be broken it might have to be done in house in the league. I wanted to see more team decks, but as Stu pointed out, with Have a Blast! running around they are going to be more fragile. I totally agree with your observations on the combo with LoA and BBH working, but as you said it is also a little far fetched. I started looking at my decks and pulling them all back to single teams in an effort to find avenues I haven't explored yet. i am actually on my way to play for the evening with my group, so I will start looking tonight. I just wanted to post to say i agree with your observations on Dual Nature, but for now I don't think the game is very open to exploring the card with a team up competitively. I hope someone finds a way to make this not true anymore. I'll keep trying.
Those are solid points, TheBeats. I just wonder if the straigtforward nature of the BH deck ever hurts it, especially against opponents who've played it enough to know what's coming next. Brotherhood decks aren't quite as tricky to play as Doom decks, but they also aren't quite as tricky *period*.
Fa-Boom is a good example of a deck that's strong on its own, but is often particularly strong against BB's LC/A combo. WarWolf suggested that a straight-up meta deck would be a bad idea, and he's probably right, but perhaps more analysis of otherwise solidly built but happen-to-be-meta decks is in order.
Of course I see the world through shiny purple glasses, but I see two main weaknesses in Brotherhood. One, the massive breakthrough of TNB can be stopped through reinforcing. GCPD Officer seems to be made for that... but the cops do not have much support in team to finish. Two, BBH could be stopped with direct stun... Fastball or Roy Harper or something. Going "meta" and bringing a BrotherHate deck to the PC might or might not work. I have heard that there are DC decks that own all of Marvel, but I cannot find them yet. Chicago will show us whether they are real or not.
After supper addition: those extremely talented Magic players had acted like competitive types and playtested the vomit deck specifically to hate brotherhood. It was a bit ironic that it finally fell to Carl's Medium version of the team it was meant to meta against. Of course vomit is fragile itself, a bad or missing Longshot is the bad luck that chess does not have. (Yes, a VS. card is like a rook... but you do not get random mixtures of rooks and pawns in chess.)
Before I post this about Gabe Vs Carl, I want to preface it by saying I played Carl on Friday at Origins and he's a good guy.
In game 3 Gabe has no Longshot. I think the game ended on turn 6. So Carl had 12 cards drawn at the start of turn 6's build phase. He had drawn 2 TNB 3 Genosha's 1 Toad 1 Feral Rage 1 5Quicksilver 1 Flying Kick 1 6Mystique. The draw could have been a LOT worse.
Im just glad my friend who came along with me to origins runs sentinals (Vomit)
Ive have played against that deck so many times that I knew how to play against it. So if your out their reading this Steve, I owe my spot in the top 2 due to all the games we played.
And as for the top 8 spot, I made some mistakes to Eric ;)
Looking forward to the rematch.
As for casual and competative gaming
I consider myself a casual gamer who now is leaning towards competative style gaming. I enjoy playing against different people cause everybody ranges in style and strategy, as well as deck building.
As for the finals, my casual gaming got the best of me, I was not up to par with Bill's insight on the order and resolutions of chaining plot twists. The worst part was i had to find out the hard way game 3 of the finals.
As for the reason why i play medium brotherhood, I am believer in not playing any 7 drops. If I reach turn 7, I consider the game over with a loss in my corner.
I cant wait for august, I want to try out an Arkham deck and a Gothom Knights deck, more for fun then competativeness.
GDE, your memory amazes me, I dont even remeber one card in my hand of that sentinal game. You counting cards or something:grin:
I shall see how far I can go playing this game which is now taking up a good portion of my time. Cant wait for the spidey set.

Bad draws, or was WarWolf right all along?... damn!
It was bad draws, although WarWolf is also right. The deck that beats the best deck almost won the whole thing, with a team that the competitive types said had no business in Tier One.
This weekend will give us a big hit of new info for this discussion.
