Elementary, my dear Barnes. You justify these posts by claiming that they are entertaining. I have made the argument that they are of no particular interest because they either ignore flavor or outright spit on it, as most TCG articles do. A VS player who looks at a card and sees only the mechanics of it's card text is not a fun guy.
As for the argument that people call Arsenal Roy Harper because Arsenal is a lame name, the same argument could be make for Batman, and I don't see anyone calling him anything else on a regular basis.
I came back to see what had happened to this thread and what people thought about it, to find a bunch of thoughts that had been destroyed or edited to "satisfaction" by a certain moderator. I really don't think it's a good idea for a mod to edit everyone's posts with their own thoughts on a subject.
Bizarro, I think that there are a lot of people who play this game that play it for the game, not the comics. Maybe this would be a good topic for an article.
Originally posted by Bizarro #98 I agree, and there's nothing inherently wrong with that attitude; it just lacks depth, and is therefore uninteresting.
It's time for you to quit taking yourself so seriously. It doesn't become you.
Originally posted by Bizarro #98 ...which make me think, "Has this guy ever read a comic book in his life?" The only people who call Arsenal Roy Harper are those who had no love for the character before he got the VS treatment, and I find those people shallow and boring.
Are you serious? Rob refers to the card as Roy Harper and he is shallow and boring? Maybe Rob doesn't read comics. Maybe people understand who he is talking about when he says Roy. What does it matter? Maybe people play the game for the gameplay and not the comic flavor. Maybe they do it for both. What does that have anything to do with it?
I thought before that your comments about the interview were just about you voicing your opinion about how it wasted your time. I don't know why you even bother with that, unless you wanted to draw attention to yourself. Fair enough. But to judge someone to be shallow and boring because they don't share your love for comics is just silly.
And, if you really love Roy so much, you would know that as a super-hero, Arsenal is so-so. But he really shines as Roy Harper the guy that dates and sleeps with all the hot super-babes in the DC universe.

I appreciate the thoughts, but I stand by my decision. Most of the participants have already thanked me via PM. I understand the issue, but I will continue to defend this community against negative feelings as much as I can.
As for the article idea, that's what I had hoped for... a Bizarro #98 critique of all that's missing between the comics and the cards. What else are we missing, Biz? Please, I bet most of us would like to know more about our mistakes. I am not being facetous or sarcastic, I think it's a great idea. Write me an article, I'll get it on the front page.

I'm sorry I have not spent enough of my life on comics for you to be satisfied. I have read comics before and I continue to do so but I have other interests as well. I don't need to be called shallow and boring because I don't fit your description of a comic geek. I am not going to be condescending, I am not going to go off on you, I'll just explain to you why I called him the sacriligeous name "Roy Harper".
First off, not everyone is a comic fan. Some people only know the card or the name of the card by what's printed on it. The first thing you see when you're looking at the card Roy Harper <> Arsenal is ROY HARPER. That's why I referenced it as Roy Harper because not everyone can fit your desciption of a "die-hard" comic fan. I was trying to appeal to all of VS Realms not just the group of people who read comic books. If I said my favorite card was Wonder Girl would you know the distinction between Cassie Sandsmark and Donna Troy unless I said "My favorite card is Donna Troy/Cassie Sandsmark"?
I'm sorry if you saw me as shallow and boring and I hope that you can bring something constructive to the board next time. Not everyone is like you and not everyone will always agree with your opinion that anyone who doesn't read comics is "Shallow and boring".

The same argument could be made for any character with multiple versions.
I reread the article again, just now. (stu edit: Bizarro once again told us that he does not think the article is interesting, and that it does not belong on the front page. He got very nasty, and caused me to decide to close this thread.)
Ladies and Gentlemen, if you are just tuning in at home... I would like you to know that I consider Bizarro #98 my friend, no matter what we disagree on. In fact, he wrote this a couple weeks ago about me and I am thinking of including it in my biography:
“Picture if you would, a man who is devoted to a particular team, so much so that it’s the only team he allows himself to play, either casually or competitively. However, he feels that this team’s representation in Vs. is subpar, and attempts to compete by taking advantage of an unintentional synergy with an associate of his favorite team’s mortal enemy (who happens to have a bad haircut). Is this person casual or competitive? I’ve been stewing over this for some time.”
See, he can write outstanding thoughts. As for the anger, I don't get it. He can be really great sometimes too. We will all continue to try to get along as positively as we can, and I will do everything I can to keep it that way.
That includes closing this thread and hoping that everyone has been entertained.
Originally posted by Tsano Could you point me to the thread about the deck with aunt may in it? i would like to see what kind of jank would run that old bag.
Yes! My evil plan worked. That shiny janky jewel is still tucked in my brain... and I am planning to team-up with its author for a full Metagame article. Patience, my friend. I will let you know when its done.
I would just like to say thanks to Enkur for putting this up. Information is good. Not every article has to contain groundbreaking tech, or hilarious Aunt May, Madame Web menage-e-trois references. I enjoyed reading the piece.
Just to pick up on a couple of points.
I though Bizzaro's comment about "has this guy ever read a comic" left a slight taste in my mouth. It had a kinda - "This game is for comic fans only" flavor. I haven't read a comic since I was 12 - does that mean my opinion is less valuable? I don't think so. You probably didn't mean that, as your posts are normally quite enlightened, and your opinions are well presented.
Also, I think Kergy raised an issue about promoting vsrealms to our members is unnecessary.
Well, a lot of people reading the article will not be members so it may serve to encourage more people to sign up. Also, how many people come on this site purely for the neutral ground? Quite a lot. I think internally promoting a sites utilities, members and activities is a good thing. It will encourage lurkers to come out and maybe show the traders there there is a wider community out there.
I liked the article and look forward to the next one.
