Two steve's in the top 8 - that would be cool. A reasonable chance as well, I think we have another steve from our shop travelling down with myself an steve_q
Yup, Steve Loser (sorry, we don't have another name for him) Jason and Little D are all looking to come as well.
and yeah, Me versus Kamiza for the nr 1 spot would be a very cool day, but i don't consider it likely.
Wow eurpeans that are in the top 8 one would think would be a lot smarter and alert, either that or the coverage sucks. this is from the quarters match between dean sohnle and Andre Weinberger:
Strangely enough, they both had no plays for the first 3 turns. The first to blink was Dean with a turn 4 Human Torch, Hotshot, quickly followed by Unstable Molecules. Again, Weinberger had nothing to play
hotshot has loyalty how the guys oppoenet missed this is beyond me

Wow these Europeans must be really slow and dumb to make mistakes like that.
It happens, and I can easily see it being the reporter's error. Haven't you ever found impossible things happening in metagame.com match reports before? I've noticed countless situations but I didn't single the incidents out and make a post on how stupid Americans are or anything to that effect.
For an example, take this match report on the quarter finals game at 10K Orlando.
"Spoiler could not be reinforced due to Milton’s formation, but Garth returned the Heroic Sacrifice and Milton played it. In response, Jacob played Nasty Surprise and Overload on Spoiler, stunning and KO’ing her and then readying Magneto."
Magneto wouldn't ready. Heroic Sacrifice removes all attackers from the attack, and when the attack sub-step resolves, although there were no defenders there weren't any attackers to consequently ready. I think this is a pretty big error, 7 drop Magneto getting a free attack?
These things occur on a regular basis and they are either mistakes from the reporter or little things gone unnoticed by the players. Note that the game was played when the 21st-64th players were collecting their prizes, so don't count on numerous bystanders - most had left already or were preoccupied collecting their T-shirts.
Andre was however sharp enough to spot Dean equipping 2 equipment to characters without flipping Pier 4... they're allowed one mistake on the day, right? After 10 enduring rounds of swiss?
I hope I haven't taken inappropriate implications from your post but I feel it's worth pointing out things like this happen more often than you'd think, even in the top 8 of big money events.

That is incorrect. The Nasty Suprise and Overload would resolve first, thus making Heroic Sacrifice illegal since there is no longer a defender to target, and it's entire effect "fizzles".
However, you're right that stuff like this happens all the time. In this case, the judge confirmed on another thread that an illegal play was not caught. Other times we have judges making incorrect rulings that let illegal plays go through.
That being said, let's try to cut out the insults.
Are you sure? My understanding is the attack sub-step is still in process, and it doesn't finish until there are consecutive passes on an empty chain, in which case Heroic Sacrifice would resolve after the defender is stunned, removing the attacker from the attack. The attack would then conclude with no attacker or defender.
Sorry if I was a little harsh in that last message.
Edit: Yeah I can see what you mean, the target defender would be stunned and no longer a defender when Heroic Sacrifice would resolve... but they have to be available to target for resolution, so nothing would happen. My point with metagame.com reporting errors still stands, but that was a poor example.
Seriously, chill. Dean was playing the most complicated deck in the format, and this was at close on to midnight, when things had kicked off pretty early. He isn't the first person to make mistakes in a top 8, and he most certainly won't be the last. I don't really see that the location of the event has any bearing on this. A Canadian and a German play each other in England, with a Portuguese feature match reporter. A mistake is made and gets missed. Personally I would back up each involved 100% as being good players who were likely just fatigued.

More stuff like this, and I will be VERY liberal with warning points. I for one am getting tired of blanket comments like this. I played some international players at PC LA. I think my record was split with all of them.
Let me tell you something. More importantly, I had a blast playing with them.
Knock this crap off!
Any comments in relation to my comment will be dealt with also. Consider the case CLOSED on whether or not the European meta is weaker than the American meta. You can talk constructively about how a deck would do in a 10k here, but leave the player bashing out of it.
Steven, Eekamouse. The guy IS European. he was responding sarcastically to a comment made about how "You would think Europeans would be smarter". Check the country tag or the quoted post he's responding to before going off on him. Though I agree his response was harsh, he did apologize for it and he did have right to take offense.
(eekamouse: i think techno was critisising EDGE23235 and not europeans as he is a european himself. sarcasm doesn't work too well with text though.)
moving swiftly on... who thinks that we should be moving towards a 2 day event for some 10Ks?
I personally have no problems with playing 10 or 12 rounds, but it does seem strange that the most important match (final) will likely be played when a player is at his worst. Perhaps cut to top8 for the next day?
Also can anyone tell me why the tourney was on a Sunday and not a Saturday. A minor point, but it kinda makes work in the morning a bit of a bugger.
Man, my fault. I was just reading through the thread and saw that. My apologies. I'll see about having the warning points rescinded. My previous comments are still in effect though ;)
I need to take Tim's advice and chill. Sorry guys :)
I am guessing the attendance at Minehead had something to do with the 1 day format? Ideally that'll change for the next UK event. Also, there would probably have been another round in the instance of a two day event - I believe eleven rounds is the norm for this number of people - but time was limited as things were and there ended up a player missing out on top 8 with an 8-2 record, very unfortunate on his part.
