Exactly. That's what we should be discussing now. I think this is going to be a very interesting week. Especially since Hans writes for Metagame.
Originally posted by WBO If I was UDE I wouldn't give prize support, because cheating just makes it seem like you've cheated your way up there, thus making your prizes null.
Vs would be no where near as popular without prize support.

why do you post this slander, i mean we dont even kno the complete story... it might have been a misplay or a mis understanding....it wasnt a huge cheat (if it was) no reason to consister all his actions to have been cheating
i do know the complete story and thats y i said what i did. for all the people that think it was an innocent mistake u r wrong if it was his actions would have not been what they were and he would have only recieved a game loss not a dq. when he got caught he was laughing and swirling around in his chair which just shows he does not care.
edit: slander is oral communication while libel is print so please get your terms correclty if your going to falsely accuse people.

They DQ'd him from the quarter finals of a Pro Circuit and took away his prize money. It doesn't matter the level of cheating, that doesn't make it any less wrong, and I don't think they would have taken such severe action if there was any "might" about it.

I meant Hoh cheating in the finals made it seem as if he cheated his way through the PC, and many other major events. That makes him seem undeserving of any prize support.
I don't play anymore. Not really. But I still keep up with the game from time to time, primarily for big events. A-Rod and I have always seemed to be of the same mind on these types of things.
No one has mentioned it, but this is the exact same thing that happened at 10k Orlando to Irving Diaz. His opponent replaced a face down Tim Drake in his resource row to Optitron next turn. This player was also losing the match.
Someone mentioned they didn't understand why he would risk it simply for one more game win, especially that high up. Well, in the long run, the difference between a few game matches ranges from $7000 to $40000. That's a fairly large incentive for what could seem like or be perceived as a tiny, almost unnoticeable infraction.
The thing I find funny is that some of you are saying, "Oh, Hans played Answer the Call face down. Got Reigned, then pro-actively decided to switch the Call for a Shape to his benefit. It was a mistake."
There's no possible way that can be a mistake. It's akin to me playing, say, New Identity on a character to give them a counter, then someone stunning and KOing that character, then me deciding to change the target of New Identity. There's no way I could do that, firstly because It's too late, and secondly because the entire move is based on information that I gained AFTER the fact. Stunning and KOing that character is a strategic move on my opponent's part. It's his response to my New Identity.
It doesn't matter if I did that, or if three turns later I decided I wanted to play a different character than I had played three turns prior. He should have known better; well, I'm sure he did know better is the issue. It's as Alex said, you don't win two 10k's and top 8 a PC (with a reservist deck no less) without knowing how Reservist works.
When I played, the guys on my team were good. I don't deny that. But the fact is they got to top 8's an average amount. I knew that none of them cheated. There's a handful of guys who seem to win an awful lot, and I'm not implying anything really, but more and more, signs of cheating seem to be showing themselves. I know personally of an incident involving a member of prominent VS. team at PC Amsterdam, but that's neither here nor there. I'm just saying it happens, perhaps more so at a competitive level, and I think everyone can admit that Is it impossible to consistently win at this game and not cheat? Of course, but there's a certain amount of luck involved that should prevent any grandiose consistency.
The point is there's money on the line. $40,000 at most, plus all kinds of benefits related to UDE, such as Job possibilities, writing positions, etc. That can put a nice down payment on a house or buy a nice car free and clear. Spectators have to understand that, and stop giving players who "misplayed" the benefit of the doubt.
HaJo has not been caught or even accused by any players, before this time. He is regarded as a nice and genuine good player, that does not need to cheat to win. However on this day, he showed what could be determined as cheating. When you are playing on the PC level, you should know what every single card in the game does, especially if you are regarded as a Pro of that game, and you are 3 matches away from $40,000. However Hans also playing a deck that uses 'Reservist', and he is fresh off a day off drafting a set, with many 'Reservist' characters. We don't know why he did it, maybe he was upset he was going to lose, maybe he didn't like the match-up, or maybe he was mad he didn't hit Boliver on turn 1, but whatever his reason for doing what he did was, he knew it was not quite right. UDE felt that him being DQ'd, without any money was the correct move. Many of us, including my self, were not there. Therefore it is not our business to say whether or not UDE's call was a correct one. The decision was reinforced by Head Judge Paul Ross, he knows the way things are supposed to be, and he put them that way. It is unfortunate for HaJo, but a Head Judge's decision should never be over-ruled, if it is-the Head Judge's ruling on other difficult decisions, will not be considered final, by many players.
There is not justice in seeing Roy leave the event with money in his pocket, and HaJo leaving with just a sour taste in his mouth, but not much in life is just these days.
By this decision, UDE is reflecting a strong image, if you cheat(even slightly), you will be punished greatly. While it is terrible for HaJo, it is a good thing for the game in general. If we see people cheating on the Pro Circuit and there only punishment being recieving a loss, they likely would have got anyway, what stops us from cheating when we are given the chance.
Well he made a mistake I don't think he should be banned for life.I think that HaJo deserves maybe a little time to think about his actions but than he should be allowed to come back to the game.
Also MagnetoXX you really shouldn't accuse players of cheating with no proof. That's a surefire way to get this topic closed. The only reason this topic is still open is because the actions were officially acknowledged by UDE. Accusing a prominent FTN player without proof is not a good idea and FYI, it's pretty obvious who yuor talking about.
no...thats the thing we dont kno what completely happen...if he did it on purpose i still respect him...i mean who of us have never made a mistake or got caught in the moment and did sumthing stupid
