Interesting. IIRC, all the "Uberteams" in Magic failed spectacularly at the event they were formed for, with the exception of Colony (calling which a "Uberteam" is a bit of a stretch) so it remains to be seen whether this sort of idea is cursed in VS as well.
erick, I'm flattered. No one has ever compared me to Gorilla Grodd before! I must remind you, however, that I am not a part of the betting proposals on the board. As much as you would like to make this about me, the way you always do, I am actually a part of the same field as you at 18-1. It's actually a big relief, I have not had the time to practice that I had hoped for.
Niles, you scare me. I had planned for this since you are about the only real degenerate around here. I figured you would need to drop something on this, especially with those odds. I'll get back to you on what actually defines a "superteam".
I will give Frayer Et Al (FEA) the 30-1 odds that the other "lesser teams" got. You can't be in the field. Same with Slack's Formerly Misunderstood (SFM). Same with Erick And The West Side Trolls (EATWST) if they want. I could lose my shirt on the field, but I will give you a chance on yourselves if you feel that confident.
Remember, the odds are subject to wild fluctuation. With a small total pool like this... one bet can cut things in half.

There you go starting up again. That last sentence was unnecessary.

That's why I said the bet should be one of the West Coast no-namers ("trolls"... wow... I thought you were trying to keep it positive?) against you since it's the same odds. It's a nice fun bet just like back in the old West Coast vs. East Coast RealmWorx days... there doesn't even have to be any money involved.

Nice insurance policy. If you do well... you can always write another article about how you turned the metagame on its head with your barely practiced deck. If you do poorly, you can just say you had a barely practiced deck. Those are better odds than the superteams.
C'mon stu... have some confidence. You need to make Day 2. You need to show everyone that you aren't stuck in 2004... I will be rooting for you from my Shonen Jump Tournament back on the West Coast... refreshing the Metagame site every chance I get. Just don't play army characters... they suck in this format.
Erick, you know I love you. It's just so difficult to pull off the "positive trash talk", you know?
I would never bet on myself. I keep forgoing my playtesting for... um... marital duties. I guess that's just me.
I wanted to dance with you this morning, that's all. Thanks for the whirl.
The entire bookmaking thing is an attempt to focus the community on these "superteams", so we can put a big load of pressure right in between their eyes. Aim for the forehead.
As of now, before Niles jumps in the pool and replaces most of the water, it's 30-1 for non-super teams.
18-1 is for a player that someone knows about who is not part of a team. Since that could be any one of 100 or so people (Hey Karl Horn!) the odds are lower. If you pick a specific team, you get 30-1.
