This is awesome, I feel spoiled again. To all the people that are too stupid to play this game in the first place and say that they are banning left and right like YGO.
I love secret 6, and now secret 6 is dead but you know what??
IT WAS THE BEST DECISION UDE MADE!!!!
All those cards affect some people, jank players lose s6v, faces players use bobo, common enemy players lose valeria but who cares??? In retrun we get a non-degenerate format and lets be honest these cards (especially chimp who was a mistake to begin with) needed to be banned.
The reality is that faces still works without chimp, common enemy still works without valeria, and you can still play s6 at the ktichen table.
Also as a long time bhood reservist player go down fighting was a joke in that deck anyway and will not be missed.
UDE thank you, you have restored my faith in you, I knew you would eventually I did not expect it to be so swift. Kudos to you guys!!!
Augh, it sucks that valeria and fiddler got chopped. In non-silly decks they were just very good, and there are no replacements for their effects.
There are no replacements for their effects.
EXACTLY the point.
Eliminating those cards prevents the combos from working.
Instead of Valeria and Talia, you'd have to ban [and not make any more] ongoings that can flip themselves down any number of times with endurance, ditto with re-readying locations.
Fiddler, with enough characters in hand, is a loop unto himself [two copies]. He can enable Nega-Bombs nearly single handedly ... with Frankie it becomes even easier. It was him or Frankie probably.
Also, one argument was too many free characters. This eliminates 2 of them.
Crap, these bans don't take place until after the pcq in Warren. So tech stays in, just hope no one brings them, that'd really suck. A great move by UDE, I'm sad that chimp is gone, my gloom deck worked rather well with him instead of using crisis of infinite earths but oh well.
I think that Upper Deck has made a mistake in what cards they banned.
Its best to strike something degenerate at its core. If you just attack its limbs, it'll eventually regrow. The cards that let you actually win with these shenanigans are what needed to be banned in my mind, not just the various enablers. Magic players, remember when they were trying to solve the degeneracy and they banned Dark Ritual, the enabler, but not the core of the combo? The deck still found ways to adapt and survive, which just resulted in more bannings.
I think that its certainly interesting that Upper Deck chose to take action, but I fear that they maybe did not take action on the correct cards.
