I've been thinking about this more...and I'm still undecided. I love the idea of refeaturing some cards, but not others. If too many are refeatured, how very close to golden would our modern and silver formats be?
I think I'd be most pleased if it wasn't a refeature at all, or at least a 50/50 mix of staple cards.....
The Refeaturing of Generic (or team stamped) utility cards doesn't seem like it would skew silver... broken combo enablers, and general 'hey, this is stupid good' cards, however... yeah.
I found this interesting description at Black Hawk Hobby which should clarify some questions. It was on a PDF, so I am typing what is printed.
The most legendary Marvel heroes and villains are here and ready to face off in the ultimate battle of good vs evil! Ever wonder which superhero would win in a fight or what would happen if that superhero turned evil. (Seen that before - but now the kicker)
... (dramatic pause for emphasis)
58-card deck (30-card deck + two 14-card Marvel Legends booster packs), 6 decks per display. 14 game cards + 1 UDE points card per pack, 24 packs per display. Releasing in August.
If Reign of Terror gets reprinted, I'll crap my pants. It's already bad enough getting double-Reign'd on turn 3 in casual, let alone in actual tournament play.

Sounds similar to WoW starters. I still think full structures decks sans rares is the way to go -- Morlock evasion, X-Men Energy, Avengers reservist. All very viable builds for new players to be able to grab and have a synergized deck.

I've wondered that one. That would be horrible if they reprinted Reign or 4 drop Doom. Talk about killing Modern and Silver ages.
The Marvel Legends Booster set (273 total cards) includes:
108 Common cards, 55 Uncommon cards (13:1)
110 Rare cards (1:1)
Complete parallel foil set (1:1)
Alright, lets take a minute to think... 108+55+110 = 273
UDE has increased the set count of cards in the past. What was it? MMK we saw it go to a 220 card count? We might be just over-reacting and all it is is a simple card pool increase. Let's think. There's 163 commons and uncommons and 110 rares. Lets say UDE gives us 5 teams in this set.
110 divided by 5 = 20 rares per team with 10 legacy cards. Normal...
163 commons and uncommons divided by 5 = 32.6 cards per team if they were team stamped. Overall I don't see anything particularly bad about having 273 cards in a set. Yes it will mean buying moe packs but so what? I for one think its good that I will have to buy more packs as 3 months go by until the next set. It should keep sales consistent and if there are indeed 5 teams then it will make limited that much more enjoyable for pods of 6 or 8 that may get the cards they want for their team. Anyway, those are my thought.

Certain cards being only available in Golden Age would make a huge difference ... stuff like Cover Fire, Betrayal, Flame Trap, Reign of Terror, Longshot, Wild Ride, heck even Have a Blast. Most resource hate is either limited in timing [Reality Gem is restricted to the recruit step], has a nasty drawback that limits what decks would pack it [War of Attrition] or can't target team-ups.
Also, there are entire teams [i.e. X-Statix] that are only available in Golden Age.
If they go with reprints, hopefully it is for something like ... bringing some of the characters that were not played much in the past, and giving them a second chance because they might go well with the refeatures. For example, some of the Doom Army related characters from the early sets might get a boost with the Doom stuff from Heralds. However, in Golden Age, playing Doom without going with Boris/Diabolical Genius/Reign of Terror/etc, etc, etc ... is bad. If it's a format where you have access to SOME of the Golden Age cards, but not those ones ... you might actually play it. That was one thing with Doom, there were some very good characters on his team, like the 4-drop Titania, who unfortunately saw no play because Diabolical Genius was so much better than any other 4-drop could be for that team.
I have a ton of those cards and have redeemed absolutely nothing. I don't expect free candy bars and new underpants for my faithful booster buying, but so far, I haven't "paid" to download any desktop wall papers. Maybe something cool in the future... Dunno
Ugh! I am worried about these guys. I don't mind buying the cards (just ask my wife!) but putting together playsets, complete collection sets, foil sets... and then is there a guarantee that any sizeable number of them will be legitimately playable (just stating the obvious while acknowledging the inevitable answer)??? I know they gotsta feed they babies, but I am concerned that they are going to shoot their own cash cow for the sake of "one final go".
In addition to UDE saying that the Legends sets will be the new core sets, didn't they say that some of the teams will be based on supporting a single character? possibly similar to that of the "Doom" affilition? (I could be wrong)
If that's true, could most of these rares be just that... the support cards and characters for the toon specific decks? And the (un)commons are the generic cards that can be used for such decks and those we have today?
