what are they gonna do with the other teams that don't have recognizable icons? Are they just going to make something up so it goes with their new design? I really hope they thought ahead on this because teams like villains united, sentinels, underworld, and i don't know fearsome 5 are going to get screwed.
That's the name of the game... make it up as you go along (unless people complain long enough and loud enough).
(looking for the stubarnes unicorn here....) Um... bigger art box is a good thing. Would be nice were it vertical as opposed to horizontal, but we can't always get what we want.
If they're just going to replace all the keywords with symbols, why not just EA EVERY card?

It might not be what we wanted but it might be what they wanted, I heard the fat guys of the comic universe (blob, etc.) wouldn't sign over their licenses to UDE if they didn't widen the art box. They've got one hell of a union or something because the change was made, meanwhile the tall heroes and villains get the shaft, I'll bet stilt man is pissed.
Just checked vssystem.com and saw the pic of the Hulk card. I like the little cost symbol. And the activate symbol. Ummm....yeah, that's about it. My first thought, "Cool, another triple stacker." But lo and behold, ALL the cards are like that. Not so cool. I spent a couple of minutes trying to figure out where flight and range were, and which team affiliation he's supposed to be on. Why's attack and defense split up on either side of the card? What's wrong with ATK on the top and DEF on the bottom? The concealed/concealed-optional symbols. Sun and moon? What was wrong with the old way, borders, colors, all that jazz? Just glancing at the card would tell you if it was a character, location, plot twist, or equipment. Now all we're given is a little color at the top? Plus all that stuff made EA's so much cooler than the originals. Personally, I'm sad to see the old graphics go. And flight and range? Where are they, oh here they are, hiding in the corner. Remember, this is all just my opinion. To use an old cliche, "If it's not broken, don't fix it."
Edit: I was just reading more posts and they're saying it's looking more like WoW. I don't want to play WoW, I want to play Vs. System.

For like the tenth time... did some of you even look at the cards?
Concealed-optional is now part black framed and part red or grey depending on card type (this is actually better than what we have).
Concealed characters are still entirely black framed.
also the reason a card like SB looks like it might have less art is that it's an old card drawn to the old landscaping parameters...it actually looks like the cards now have more actual art real estate so to speak but when you take a Vertical style card and transfer it to a Horizontal landscape you're gonna lose some art on the height.

The game doesn't play like WoW, you get that right? Just because the art is a little bigger and the cards look all stupid now, doesn't mean the gameplay is going to change.

At least until the "rules changes" are announced... (not holding my breath hoping that LEEEEROY JENKINS is now legal in Silver Age)...
Yeah, the look is completely stupid. Having so much room devoted to a team affiliation, and taking away from the art was waaaaaaaaay better! Using whole detailed disclaimers in the text box like concealed, team affiliations, and the word activate taking more room away from the artwork was the best! I prefer my art to be the size of a postage stamp and the rest of the card be filled with useless graphics. This is a superhero game, featuring talented artists, so lets have huge text boxes! Yep, VS is the new WOW because we now have BIGGER pictures.
We have been given a set of all EAs for no additional cost and people still find ways to gripe.
The location is amazing. The rock I'm less impressed by, though I love that it exists. I love that we have a significant amount of new content as well as a bunch of old favorites coming back around again.
I'd venture that we'll finally start seeing more cards that cross over from set to set now, like Flying Kick did in Hellboy.
I hope this means Savage Beatdown will start to climb in value again.
Ugh, after looking more at them I don't like it at all. The art is fatter. The split ATK/DEF symbols is awkward. The Flight/Range symbols are wayyyy too tiny. What the heck is that little sun? (after reading all posts I guess it means visible? Blech.) The boulder card just looks bland. Nifty effect though, even if it won't see much play.
Please stop copying WoW. WoW's success has %0 to do with the card layout, starter decks, etc.... WoW's success had to do with a great license, more effort put into it than VS (VS HL died while they were getting WoW ready) and better distribution (you can buy it in Wal-Mart and Target!)
The only thing I thought was okay was the little team affiliation symbol. I appreciate the effort to try to improve things, but I think it would have been better served to utilize that effort in other areas.
Edit: This post does not reflect on the card content, which is interesting and as looks well thought out at this point.
