Heh, B & R doesn't have one... there is one on Sunday that is being run up at Galactic Quest. There is one on Thursday the 25th at The Gaming Pit :).
Are you not part of the Atlanta yahoo group? If not, talk to pretty much anyone at one of the events and we'll get ya on.
To Erick> That question was brought up on the forums. I may show up on the 25th because I'm supporting here, but it wasn't really my intention. The reality is I'm not really playing much anymore, I'm kinda waiting out the Legends sets because they're not made for draft. BUT, I do want to encourage our player base to stick together (I will be back, I understand the Legends sets are made as more "base" and not for draft... and if TBS can manage to make JLA NOT suck as a "Mag 7 Legends" deck, I may even be encouraged to draft/play constructed with that). So when rumblings of more people skipping events came up, and then this Quicksilver ban to stop the attrition came up and was brought up by one of the store's organizers and approved by everyone, I wanted to take it on myself to put out the word, because it wouldn't be fair to outsiders if at least some notice wasn't put out, so here it is. Hopefully this gets out far enough and people are cool about it... I don't want to put up the "unofficial ban", only to have random outsiders come in and ruin people's fun.
It's selfish, but I really do want a good group to come back to afterwards. If removing a card and trying to spread the word to prevent attrition locally helps, then I don't think anyone can complain about that :).
Homer> I hear ya... but understand that for all the elemnts of "good ideas going bad" this has, it's a fact we'd have less turnout if this didn't happen; we know that. And if those people are discouraged enough to stop playing, that's even worse. This kinda came through this week... we're taking what measures we need to in order to prevent locals from leaving the game.

Ok i need to chime in again.
At this point it is clear that Dave is talking about the Build a Legend event not the Elite Series.
BandR IS having an Elite Series this Sunday 21st (start time is noon, as i recall).
I dont mean to bring this up in the forum, but after several PMs to evildave, it seems he is mistaking the Legend events for the ES and not correcting it publicly, which may be to blame for some of the confusion.
I dont think BnR has any intention of running the ES outside of UDE protocol. I dont think they, or the players there want to lose their hosting abilities.
As far as the Marquee events at Galactic Quest and the Gaming Pit, the TO's there and their players ARE running them outside of UDEs guidelines. Galactic Quest is doing it modern (which I personally think limits the meta game, since it nerfs any thought of using Crisis), and The Gaming Pit is doing silver, with the QS ban in place.
But with evildave opening the thread stating that the Georgia Elite Series (of which BnR is the only one this time) is banning QS was a misquote from the Atlanta area players.
Unless dave comes out to confirm that he believes the ES is banning QS in response to this post, players should feel free to bring a UDE sanctioned deck to the Elite Series, but with the strong sentiment of disgust that you will face from the local community as mentioned earlier.
Keep Quicksilver, just don't allow any games to end on or before Turn 4...that solves every broken deck.
No no no. Don't allow games to go beyond Turn 4... that solves overly long tournaments and we can go back to best 2 out of 3 matches.
So according to Neuro... does Dave have his events correct? Is Quickie nerfed for an ES or not? Sounds like it may not be but it seems like Dave and the others players feels it is.
(Wow... the lack of any other OP events has us all salivating over this Atlanta Ban Scandal!)
Must be that if you are soundly beaten by a deck on turn four, it is broken and needs to be banned. But if you are smashed to pulp on turn five beyond recognition its just a good deck and does not require banning.
The decision for the local enviroment makes sense. You never want to decrease your player/customer base, and I think most game manufacturers recognize these kind of issues will come up occasionally.
That said, I am concerned both that such a ban is in effect on relatively short notice, and that UDE has yet to address the issues that are leading to Dave's decision. But he is giving fair notice and fair options for those who don't get the information ahead of time.
Our Elite Series Event (at War Dogs Game Center) in Jacksonville FL on the 21st is not banning anything not on the official ban list. Will someone take advantage of that? Maybe. But our decision is to remain consistent with the UDE offical rulings and banned lists. I very much agree that Quickfate is abusive and should have been addressed by now, officially. I could make a case for 2 or 3 other cards that should be banned, but I am not however comfortable in enforcing that kind of decision on a player group that I expect will come from more than just our local base.
Ideally, UDE would allow a provisio for exceptions like this, or be more aggressive in solving problems of similar problem cards/decks. With the situation as it is currently, I can understand and empathize with Dave's call. I don't the decision should have been made, but having been made I hope it works out well for everyone.

if you ban anything from doom I will kill you!!!
jk, but doom is broken!
For the records, I was/ am not in the ban wagon for the elite series. The Build a Legend event is a whole different animal. Local changes here are all good, since performance here doesnt effect your chances to go to the next[sic] PC.
I understand that somepeople think the meta is stale with QS being legal, and in some cases this is true. But my making the Marque event Modern you do solve this problem, but then you also limit the metagame in doing this.
I personally think it is a horrible decision to make the build a legend deck modern. You are left with only 3 decks from the non-Marvel legend sets.
Spiderman, Batman/Supes, and Darksied. You nerf the many other decks from Heralds and crisis that would have expanded the metagame.
But is a limited metagame is fun for some groups of people so be it.
I wont dont think Ill be going to any Modern Legend tournaments because of this.
LOL - Sinister, 7 Drop Juggie, Moliods (COME ON - your "Legends" deck is 12 Moliods?!?!?!?!?!?!), all "for the turn" attack pumps, Only Human, 5 drop Jean, and 9 drop Galactus... and list goes on and on..... basically anything I don't play in my decks that make it harder for me to compete.
Hmm, wow Neuron was right... all right, so it's not an Elite series they were talking about the ban, so I guess it makes it more allright for everyone. It was named an Elite series on our forums, so I thought it was such. Sorry for not checking facts :).
So there you go... it's not even a premier event. I apologize for not checking those facts, though to some degree I'm still glad we have this discussion... mostly in hopes that UDE will see that Quicksilver qas driving people away, and a little bit of communication and/or at least pretending to still care about our game might be nice. It's also interesting to see the perspectives on local bans, obviously they're not a good thing, but will they become necessary (I know I've seen games like UFS do it, but their tournies are on a lower level).
BUT anyway, the Quicksilver is banned locally at a much lower-level scale, so hopefully people will be more OK with that. Once again, my apologies for miscommunication, I wish I could change the subject of this thread :).
Who knows, EvilDave, you may have performed a great public service here with all this noise about Quicksilver/Quickfate. I think you did a great job of taking an important concern for player happiness in your community and doing something about. Besides, now the cat is out of the bag.
This was fun. Let's do it again. I know I'm better off having experienced this.

and here i was JUST about to rant.
Best of luck to your legend series (although quickfate-based legend decks aren't NEARLY as effective)
